Hi there,

With two friends, we just got back from a two-week trip across Sri Lanka on a Royal Enfield 350cc Classic, without going through a specialized agency.

I organized everything myself.

If you need any info, I’ve written a trip report and put together a financial breakdown of our adventure.

Cheers

Hi, Did you pay for the visa on arrival? Where can I find your trip report? Thanks

Hi Stéphane,

We didn’t pay for a visa. We just did the online pre-registration. We were there in early January, during the period when the visa was still free. Authorities have just reinstated the fee for the "visa."

I can send you my travel journal, our itinerary, and the cost breakdown for our trip point by point. DM me your email, and I’ll send them to you tomorrow morning.

Best regards, Alexandre

Hi everyone, I just got back from 17 days on an Enfield in southern India—also without a guide or assistance, just going with the flow... It was absolutely amazing! I’ve got some text and photos on my Facebook page, but here on VF, I’ve only posted the texts.

Sri Lanka, where I went ten years ago backpacking with public transport, still enchanted us.

So, I’d love to hear your tips, especially about where you rented the bikes and the prices. Because it’ll definitely be one of our next motorcycle destinations.

Thanks!

Hi Laurent,

We rented our 3 rides—2 Enfields and 1 scooter—from Cockney Rebel in Negombo.

Price: $25 per day for the bike and a $250 cash deposit.

I can send you my travel docs once lockdown ends... my hard drive is at work.

Best regards,

Hello. I read your message, and your experience interests me. Vintage Rides offers a group trip with REs, but I’d love to be more independent during our journey. So, if you could send me your report and financial breakdown, that’d be great.

Thanks in advance
