Hi everyone,

For me, such a beautiful landscape is a place where, upon discovering it, my brain went "wow" in silence...

For me, "such a beautiful landscape" can only be a creation of Nature, without any trace of human intervention...

And finally, the most beautiful of the "such beautiful landscapes" I’ve come across on my travels... the one where nightfall forced me to leave. How stunning nature is when autumn arrives... and the light adds its own touch of magic...

In the immediate vicinity of the city of Xingyi (with its "futuristic" architecture, which is incredibly interesting) at the southwestern tip of Guizhou, near Yunnan, there’s a karst landscape known to English speakers as "Ten Thousand Peak Hills," but the Chinese call it Wanfenglin.

A tough choice—I had at least 10 that deserved a spot on the podium... So, since I had to pick:

Unamilanese Photo 2 *** Ragamuffin Photo 3 ** Puma2A Photo 3 *

I also really loved: Djalma 2, Attila 2, Envallis 1, Xrctn 2, Kate 1, Sinfora 3, Valmiche 2, Megapixel 2, Pagaljavab 3.

Since we have to choose... Pagaljavab 1 (Le Crotoy) 🙂 🙂 🙂 Rouquine 38 No. 1 (Iceland) 🙂 🙂 Valmichel 1 (Dolomites) 🙂

But also Unamilanese 2, Attila 2 (the Dolomites are so photogenic—they really "speak" to me), Djalma 1, Kate 1 and 3, Raga 1, and many others...

And as Pagaljavab so rightly said:

Mention "could have deserved the win if not for being out of competition" Philippebrg 0, Thailand

It was a really tough choice between these three. For me, each one deserves 3 points. I spent a long time wavering between the first two. But also the third because I really love the moody sky effects. And since I still had to decide...

UnaMilanese’s Photo 1 would’ve been stunning in black and white, I’m sure of it.

As a mediocre photographer, my judgment is first based on the following criteria: I eliminate the "postcard" photos you can find in travel brochures (Ayers Rock, Machu Picchu, etc.). I prefer wild, colorful landscapes (I don’t like black or gray dominance) in the mountains or rolling, rugged, rocky countryside far from urban areas. No paved roads, buildings, hotels, railways, etc.

xrctn - photo 2: 3 points - I really like these mountains with their unusual green, typical of the Caucasus. Ragamuffin photo 1: 2 points. I love the lush karst reliefs, and the river is a bonus. Valmichel86 photo 2: 1 point

PS: I would’ve prioritized Attila’s Dolomites if there weren’t those reminders of civilization (buildings, hotels, and access roads). I also really liked Muriel 28’s Drôme landscape (near Saou, which I know well). Mégapixel’s early-morning volcano. Ragamuffin’s southern China karst landscape.

Hi there

Tough choice this month...

My vote: 🙂🙂🙂 For Ragamuffin 1 Laos. Because Asia, water, nature, mist, mountains... 🙂🙂 For Djalma 2 Vercors. A lone man in that vast mineral expanse 🙂 For Unamilanese 2 Italy. Lovely contrast between foreground and background in the composition.

Hi,

Kate photo 1 Baie Saint-Michel: 🙂🙂🙂 The lack of natural relief, Breton stone, a hint of the northern lights... Magic happens.

Attila photo 3 Kyrgyzstan: 🙂🙂 Ah, that path! A bright curve that brings everything into focus: contrasts, colors, reliefs, volumes.

Pagaljavab photo 2: Norway 🙂 A beautiful balance, structured as much by the reliefs as by the contrasts.

Hello,

My vote for this month—it was tough to choose among so many stunning places, but in the end, after looking at them for a long time, it was the light, intensity, or contrast that made the difference:

Mexapixel 1: 3 points. Pagal 2: 2 points Elhine 1: 1 point.

Hello, it's the last day—don’t forget to vote for your favorite landscape!

KA Kate Globetrotter ·
Hello

Here’s my vote:

UnaMilanese, photo 2, 3 points Spectacular view of the rocky peaks, with the little house in the foreground giving a sense of scale. A lively sky and beautiful colors. I love the serenity it conveys. The composition is perfect.

Rouquine38, photo 1, 2 points In terms of atmosphere, this photo is even more polished than the previous one. The tension is striking and almost surreal. The nearly monochrome palette enhances the dramatic effect. I just miss a small focal point.

For third place, I’m torn between Pagal’s photo 3, Djalma’s photo 2, and Attila’s photo 2... So, it’ll be Pagal, photo 3, 1 point. For someone who claimed to be terrible at photography! 😉 It’s a very photogenic landscape thanks to the rock formations. The textures are rich: vegetation, clouds, rock. I would’ve cropped it a bit since the sky takes up 60% of the space (some areas seem artificial—overdone HDR?). Being so bright, it draws the eye away from the landscape.

I tried posting my photos several times without success... and I really struggled to see all the submitted photos, since VF only lets me see the last page! What a hassle this forum is! My votes: Rouquine 38 photo 1 in Iceland 3 points. Proves you can take stunning photos even with weather that wouldn’t normally excite me! Attila photo 2 Dolomites 2 points Beautiful mountains, gorgeous sky, and the contrast between the two buildings—it’s a classic shot that makes me want to go there. Pagaljavab photo3 1 point Cappadocia under a beautiful sky.... In photography, just like in painting, the sky is often a "living" part of the landscape.

Here’s my vote for this month:

3 points: UnaMilanese - Photo 2 - Le Odle - Dolomites The path leading us to this little house and these stunning mountains.

2 points : Pagaljavab - Photo 3 - Rose Valley - Cappadocia Gorgeous view, but the rocks in the foreground bother me a bit. Personally, I would’ve cropped them out. The sky, when it has texture like it does here, is an integral part of the landscape. That said, I agree with Kate—the sky is a little overprocessed. Maybe there were other options besides HDR, which I always find a bit excessive.

1 point: Ragamuffin - Photo 1 - Vang Vieng - Laos Lovely atmosphere with those lingering wisps of mist over the karst rocks
