A priori nous ne devrions pas passer en zone à risque pour le palu avant l'été prochain et nous ne savons pas combien de temps nous y resterions, donc difficile de prévoir les stocks.
Nous souhaiterions donc savoir s'il est facile de se procurer un traitement préventif en Bolivie et au Pérou pour les éventuels séjours amazoniens que nous ferions dans ces pays.
Savez-vous aussi si le traitement à base d'arthéméter y est répandu et facile d'accès?

Voici à Landerneau (29): la pharmacie de L'ELORN / Prix de la boîte de Malarone, confirmé le 11 oct 2010 à 34.90 €, et 12.90 € pour enfant.
pour la Bretagne plusieurs adresses à Rennes où les prix sont "relativement" bas.
à noter que la plupart des pharmacies ont augmenté leurs prix de quelques euros (2 ou 3) depuis l'an dernier.

Nous avons voyagé en famille 1 an et demi (couple et enfant d'1 an au départ) et avons choisi, en accord et avec prise de conseil auprès de notre médecin, d'éviter les traitements palu (entre autre préventions) dont les effets secondaires à long terme sont dissuasifs.
Avant de vous précipiter sur des tonnes de médicaments, lisez attentivement la liste des effets indésirable et dites vous que ça n'arrive pas qu'aux autres.
Nous nous soignons habituellement à l'homéopathie, mais nous ne sommes "intégristes" (ou inconscients). Notre expérience nous montre que les cas sérieux sont rares avec une hygiène de vie qui favorise la prévention : un organisme bien "traité" (bio si possible, nourriture, boissons, activité...) a un bon système immunitaire.
En sachant qu'en cas de vrai nécessité les médecins locaux auront un avis bien plus pertinent que les conseils généralisés de votre toubib préféré et la réaction adaptée à votre cas précis.

les villes sitées sont a ;plus de 2500m;je doute que les moustiques survivent a cette altitude;

la ville de santa cruz est a une altitude de 450m environ;

Un traitement anti palu est complètement inutile à Santa Cruz.
De façon générale un traitement anti palu est inutile sur l'ensemble du continent américain. Si vous devez vous rendre dans une zone présentant un risque protégez vous des moustiques et ayez avec vous un traitement curatif au cas où.
Il faut arrêter cette fixation sur le palu.
Actuellement en Amérique du Sud il est préférable de se préoccuper de la dengue qui est en pleine expansion. Et en Amazonie la maladie qui fait le plus de ravages, et dont personne ne parle, c'est la maladie de Chagas.

Je reviens de 5 mois en Amérique latine, et franchement pour avoir fait exactement le même trajet que toi en Bolivie, je te garantie que tu n'as absolument pas besoin de traitement anti pallu.Ils ne sont nécéssaire que si tu vas en amazonie profonde. Ce qui apparemment n'est pas ton cas. Bon voyage! tu vas te régaler. La bolivie est le pays à ne pas râter en Amerique du sud.
aucun traitement anti palu n'est nécéssaire ainsi que les fameux vaccins fortements conseillés. Faire celui contre la fièvre jaune et obligatoire. Le reste c'est simplement pour enrichir les labos.

We're about to go on an organized trip to South Africa, including Kruger Park. We were told that Malarone should preferably be taken in the evening at the same time during a meal. But it's hard to know what time we'll have dinner, especially since I've read that in South Africa, dinner is usually around 6 PM.
I'd love to hear from people who've been on organized trips to this destination and could share their experience. We were thinking of taking Malarone around 7:30 PM, assuming dinner would be closer to 7 PM than 6 PM. Also, if the meal ends up being earlier or later than when we take the pill, would a cookie or a piece of bread be enough to take with Malarone?
I’m planning to set off on a "round-the-world" trip/long journey at the start of next year, lasting between 4.5 and 6 months. For now, the itinerary looks like this: South Korea (2 weeks) -> Japan (1 month) -> New Zealand (1 month) -> Argentina (1 month) -> United States (1 month).
I’m on medication (paroxetine 20 mg/day) and was hoping to bring enough for the entire trip so I wouldn’t have to find a doctor on the spot, deal with a molecule that might be slightly different from what’s available in France, or wonder if that’s even a possibility. Basically, it seemed simpler on paper...
But after looking into the regulations for each country, it’s suddenly way less simple . Many seem to only allow the amount corresponding to the length of your "stay" in the country... Which is a problem if I arrive in Korea with 4.5 months’ worth of medication, for example.
