Perso, j'éviterais peut être le taxi à cause des bouchons sur la 90, et je prendrais le métro(CTA). La blue line vs emmène en 45 mns 1 h au centre ville, et en sortant à CLARK, vs êtes à 2 mns de MICHIGAN AVENUE.
De là, Pourquoi par remonter MICHIGAN jusqu'à la HANCOCK TOWER.
PS : Pour les bières, je ne suis pas d'accord, mais mon avis ne compte guère : je dois être le seul Français au delà de 8 ans qui adore la Root Beer 😏

Je vais "souvent" à CHICAGO, et la premiere fois, j'ai mis plus de 2h pour passer l'immigration. Je m'etais bêtement enregistré dans des places à l'AR du 330 d'AF, et je suis sorti dans les derniers. Et apres il y avait 2 gros porteurs qui sont arrivés en même temps au terminal 5.
Depuis, je me rapproche plus de l'avant de l'avion (notamment en prenant des Premium) et je connais moins d'attente.
Donc même si le passage à l'immigration est assez rapide, on peux perdre pas mal de temps.
La douane est comme d'hab une simple formalité.
Une fois sorti, vs tachez de faire reenregistrer vos bagages tout de suite au terminal 1 (il y un Shutlle gratuit entre les terminaux, le ATS)
Ensuite vs prenez le metro la blue line, qui a des arrêts terminal 1
Pour le retour, les départs en vol intérieursont beaucoup plus rapide.
En arrivant aux USA, il faut obligatoirement que le passager récupère en personne ses bagages avant de reprendre un vol intérieur. C'est juste une formalité mais ça prend quand même un peu de temps.
En fait, le passager qui arrive aux USA doit réaliser toutes les formalités d'immigration ET de douane dans le premier aeroport ou il atterit.
Donc à chicago O'HARE, vs allez donc recuperer vos valises apres l'immigration, passer la douane (normalement une pure formalité, on ne vs arrete même pas) et ensuite les remettre à l'enregistrement.
A O'HARE, je sais qu'il y a juste apres la douane un tapis sur lequel on remet ses bagages en cas de transit, mais comme je n'ai jamais repris un vol interieur directement, je ne sais pas si c'est pour toutes les compagnies.
à vrai mon 1° et seul voyage aux usa, s est fait par la cote est en sortant du canada où je me suis shooté à la boréale rousse ..... mon meilleur souvenir de la belle province !!!!

J'ai pu lire qu'il y avait un réseau piétonnier à Chicago , mais je n'arrive pas à trouver où il se localise.
J'envisge de faire milénium park, Lincoln park, hancok tower, balade en vélo le long du lac,
Ballade le long de la rivière, promenade Michigan avenue , et la Willis tower
Dans notre circuit en 2 jours et demis est ce réalisable sachant que nous logeons dans le loop ?
Y a t'il d'autres quartiers à visiter ?
Et enfin côté Resto qu'elles sont les bonnes adresses à prix abordable ( nous sommes 4)

Notre circuit se poursuivra par la visite de Washington 2 jours et demi et ensuite nous prendrons une voiture de location que nous aurons pour faire Niagara, Boston , cap cod , arrivée New York pour 5 jours où nous abandonnerons le véhicule.

Je vs demandais si vs veniez en avion pour savoir si vs auriez une voiture ou non...car ca peut changer les visites à faire.
Une voiture n'est pas utile à CHICAGO, sauf si on veut aller hors centre ville, pour par exemple voir la rive nord du lac, etc.
Votre itinéraire est bien.; Perso, j'ai fait plusieurs fois CHICAGO->Est USA, mais toujours en voiture.
Si vs arrivez à O'HARE, vs avez le metro qui vs emmene directement sur le (la?) Loop.
C'est la Blue line, Toutes les infos sont sur le site CTA.
Vs arrivez au terminal5 (international) et vs prenez le mini metro qui vs mene au depart de la Blue line qui est au T1 T2.
Le metro est pratique, et rapide, car la 90, l'autoroute qui mene au centre ville, est souvent bouchée.
Pour les restos, si vs aimez les chinois, je vs conseillerais le MINGHIN, dans le quartier chinois, dans l'espece de centre commercial moderne qui longe S Archer Avenue.
Autrement, tout pres de la Water Tower, le Jake MELNICK sur East Superior St.

Pour la location retour NYC, j'avais choisit HERTZ car ils ont pas mal d'agence dans Manhattan.
c'est tres pratique pour rendre et prendre un vehicule pas loin de son hotel.
A Washington, la voiture est aussi tres pratique pour aller à Mount Vernon et Annapolis.

Je crois que le pass 3 jours serait une bonne solution, dans le cadre de la decouverte de la ville, et il sera vite amorti.
Déjà, le trajet pour O'hare coute 5$.
Votre hotel est tout pres d'une station de la blue line : Jackson ou La salle.
Ensuite, on marche beaucoup à CHICAGO, et même si on veut en faire le maxi à pied, prendre le bus peut etre une bonne option pour revenir en bus des coins eloignés....(Par exemple le trajet de Lincoln parc jusqu'à votre hotel fait 4 miles...)
Le pass permet de ne pas lesiner sur les trajets, et de ne pas s'embeter avec l'achat de ticket(et je ne sais pas si vs en etes à 20$ pres).
Enfin, vs pourrez faire le traditionnel tour du loop sur le metro aerien.
Je partage votre point de vue le pass nous permettra de nous déplacer plus facilement dans Chicago même si nous sommes déjà dans le centre
Et en plus le métro aérien de Chicago est à faire absolument.

Pour Chicago, Nous avons effectivement prévu de louer un vélo et nous balader entre autre le long du lac Michgan.
Pour Washington, je pense que nous ferons d'avantage la visite des principaux sites sur le National Mall à pieds, je ne sais pas si on peut laisser en toute sécurité les vélos à chaque visite. D'autre part si on loue et que l'souhaite visiter en même temps , il faudrait garder le vélo toute la journée .
Nous logeons à Dupont Circle donc relativement proche des différentes choses à voir.

Sur Washington j'ai trouvé les tarifs de restaurant assez élevé du moins dans le centre
j' en ai retenu 2
le premier c'est celui ci le "pavillon café" bonne adresse si l'on a un petit creux
Le second pas très loin de la maison blanche est un vieux restaurant
Rien que le bar il vaut le coup d'oeil
J'y ai pris plusieurs fois le petit déjeuner car il était correct et bien servi
Après il y a de nombreux restaurants le long du potomac en allant sur Georgetown
Prennez un taxi pour vous y rendre c'est pas bien cher (15$ du mall)
Faites vous déposer à Waterfront park il y a de nombreux restos sur la marina
Si vous trouvez pas votre bonheur, montez à pied sur M street là aussi vous trouverez surement un resto qui vous conviendra
J'y retourne en y restant 2 jours du 19 au 21 Mai 2017 pour faire le Semi Marathon de Chicago avant mon road trip dans l'ouest (arrivée le 19 - semi le 21 au matin, et l'AM direction Vegas)
Quand je vois les tarifs des hôtels 😊 ... ça a encore très fortement augmenté par rapport à 2015 ou j'avais logé au BW River North.

Perso maintenant je prends un hotel un peu à l'exterieur de CHICAGO.
MAIS c'est parce que je suis pratiquement obligé d'avoir un vehicule de loc pour aller voir mon fils qui loge au sud de CHICAGO et que ca ne me derange donc pas.
En plus c'est netemment moins cher, et ca paie largement le parking pour la journée de la voiture.
A tes dates, je vois des chambres à moins de 80$ dans les hôtels de O HARE ou MIDWAY, qui sont bien desservies par le metro.
Oui mais comme je n'y reste vraiment pas longtemps cette fois ci j'ai pas trop envie de passer mon temps dans les transports ... même si les transports sont ok a Chicago ...
Et puis le départ du semi le dimanche est à 7H du matin - ensuite je doit rentrer rapidement à l’hôtel et essayer de prendre un avion pour Vegas vers 14H / 15H maxi) - ça va être la course mais ça devrait le faire si je suis à proximité.
j'aime bien tout faire à pied . En 2015 ma 1ere journée à Chicago (que j'ai adoré) , j'avais marché entre 30 & 35 km.
Enfin j'ai encore le temps d'aviser ... et peut être que d'ici là, je tomberai sur une bonne opportunité.

Puisque vous serez a Dupont Circle, je conseille que vous allez a la rue 18th Street et marchez un peu au nord. On voit beaucoup jusqu'au nord du carrefour avec Florida Ave. On trouve beaucoup de restaurants au bord de 18th St, surtout un peu au nord. Les prix sont moins chers qu'au centre ou a Georgetown. P Street a l'ouest de Dupont Circle a plusieurs restaurants aussi.

After our first trip as a young couple to the West in 2007 (yes, that doesn’t make us any younger!), we’re planning to go back in 2028, but this time as a family of four! (We have two boys who’ll be 5½ and 13 years old in the summer of 2028.)
Our plan is to combine a few big cities (SF and LA, maybe San Diego) with national parks and state parks, mostly!
Ideally, we’d like to leave at the end of June and head back to France around July 19–20, so we can enjoy the first week of the Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
Since we already did the "loop" in 2007, there are must-see places we absolutely want to revisit—and especially share with our kids: Bryce Canyon, Yosemite, and above all, the Grand Canyon, which is still the most incredible thing I’ve ever seen on Earth!
On the other hand, some places didn’t leave a big impression on us for various reasons, so we’re not making them a priority: Antelope Canyon, Monument Valley, for example.
We’re planning ahead, but might as well be smart about it😏

We went as a family to Mount Rushmore in 2023, where my son bought a multi-function pocket knife like the one below with his name engraved—'NOAH'.
Unfortunately, he just lost it, and he was really attached to it. So, if there’s a kind soul passing by Mount Rushmore who could bring one back for me (I’d obviously cover all costs), that would be amazing for my son.

We're leaving at the end of June and will be driving the route between Buffalo and Cody. We’ve already booked our accommodations and a rodeo in Cody, but during the day, we’ll be driving between the two and I’m unsure about the itinerary.
Which route do you think is the most pleasant, interesting, or scenic between:
- The northern route via Highway 14 with Sheridan, Lowell, etc.
- The southern route with Highways 16/20/14, passing by Loaf Mountain Overlook, Powder River Pass, Ten Sleep Canyon...
We’ll be in a car, so we should be able to drive on any road.

I’m almost done planning our September road trip. After our 3-night visit to Sequoia, we’ll have a stopover night in Coalinga (to break up the drive). We’ll be staying two nights in Monterey and would like to stop along the way to visit one side of Pinnacles National Park. We’re torn between the West entrance and the East entrance, and we’d like to do a short hike of no more than 2 hours since we don’t want to arrive too late in Monterey.
This park is split into two distinct zones with no connection between them, and the mileage from Coalinga to Monterey is pretty much the same for both. Which area do you recommend visiting—east or west? And which route is the most scenic?
I’ve spotted two short hikes:
- East: Moses Spring to Rim Trail Loop
- West: Balconies Cliffs Cave Loop
Has anyone been there, or do you have another hike to suggest?

Just a quick question about King Canyon and Sequoia National Park.
Before our night in Miramonte, we plan to visit King Canyon. The next stop will be two nights in Three Rivers to explore Sequoia National Park. I wanted to go all the way to Roaring River Falls on the King Canyon Scenic Byway and then turn back to head to Miramonte. Since we’re coming from Oakhurst, Google Maps says it’s 300 km and 5 hours of driving. Since we also want to hike to see the sequoias (Big Stump Area and Grand Grove) before tackling the King Canyon Scenic Byway, the timing’s going to be tight. How far do you recommend going before turning back to miss as few points of interest as possible on the King Canyon Scenic Byway? Thanks for your advice, and have a great evening!

There are several attractions along the way:

- Desert Discovery Center and visit the Old Woman meteorite
- Joshua Tree National Park
- Mojave Desert
- Mojave National Preserve
- Anza-Borrego Desert State Park
- Silverwood Lake
My mom has back issues that prevent her from hiking or walking on trails with elevation changes. Is it possible to visit these places by car, or are the routes flat enough?
I’d love for her to experience the desert with an itinerary adapted to her condition. I’m also open to other points of interest that aren’t mentioned. We have 3-4 days for the trip, so we’re not in a rush—just want to explore.

We’d like to walk to Eagle Falls and then Eagle Lake. I’ve spotted two parking lots that seem close to each other and give access to the trailhead. Where and how do we pay for entry to Emerald Bay State Park and Inspiration Point?
**Viewpoints on the East Side:**
Are most of the viewpoints (Balancing Rock, Granite Cave, Bonsai Rock, etc.) right by the road, or do you have to hike to reach them?
**Donner Memorial State Park:**
Is it worth making a detour to Truckee to visit this park and the Truckee historic downtown?

I'm shocked by the price of the Upper Antelope Canyon tour—$175 for less than an hour… You might say, "if you can’t afford it…" But the real question is whether it’s really worth it, because $350 for two makes me feel like I’m getting ripped off. For those who’ve done both Lower and Upper, can you tell me if the price difference is really justified? Thanks

As you can see, we're heading back from September 6th to the 27th.
Everything’s booked for September—flights, accommodations, and the car. As I plan, I’ll be asking the experts for help. This is our second trip to California, but most of the stops are new to us.

Cinder Cone and Painted Dunes (Day 4)
Devil’s Kitchen and Boiling Spring Lake (Day 5)
I’ve read there are trails to access the trailheads for Cinder Cone (11 km) and Warner Valley. Are these easy trails for an SUV?
Are there any other must-see spots or things we shouldn’t miss?

I’m a total USA addict. I’ve already done several road trips, including the East Coast and West Coast.
I’m here today because I’m planning to go back for another road trip on the West Coast. Possibly with one of my sisters and a couple of friends. It’s still just a plan for now, but I’m working on an itinerary in the meantime. Ideally, I’d leave in 2026, but I don’t have the exact dates yet—maybe April-May or September-October.
My last trip to the West Coast was in September 2014. We went for 2 weeks, but this time it’d be 3 weeks. What made me want to go back was simply a colleague who just left today. As I’m writing this, he’s on the plane. I’m so happy for him, but now all I can think about is going back.
Since I recently went to NY, I noticed that prices have really gone up. I assume the same is true for the West Coast? For 2 people over 3 weeks, what budget should I expect? We’re the type to watch our spending and find great tips.
I think we’ll arrive in San Francisco like the first time and leave from either Los Angeles or Las Vegas.
Thanks for advising me on the booking—should I reserve a room in the hotel or go for a cabin for the best view?

I’m planning a week-long family trip to NYC in October 2026. The focus is on museums and soaking up the New York vibe. I’ve been checking Airbnb, but the prices in Manhattan are through the roof. Since I don’t know NYC well, is it "wise" to look outside Manhattan? Any neighborhoods you’d recommend?
After our first trip to the West, we’d love to go back to see other must-see spots!

Travelers to the United States | Photo Now Mandatory Upon Entry and Exit | La Presse
I assume many of you already know, but the America the Beautiful annual pass, which was $80, will increase to $250 starting January 1, 2026.
So if you're planning to travel before the end of December 2026, it's in your best interest to buy your pass in December 2025, since it will still cost $80 and be valid until the end of December 2026 if you purchase it in December 2025.
This price increase only applies to non-U.S. residents.
Additionally, for those who planned to visit just one park, a $100 surcharge per person will apply to access a list of 11 national parks...
For example, if there are 4 of you in a car, you’ll have to pay $35 + $400,
which comes to $435 to visit one of the 11 parks on the list (I don’t have all of them... Bryce, Zion, Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Grand Teton, etc.).
Total madness.
The goal is to push people who only visit one park into buying the annual pass.
Last point: free entry days are over for non-residents!

I’m planning a week in S.F. in April 2026 and I can’t figure out how to tell the cable cars—of which I understand there are three lines—apart from the trams, which I think number seven. I can’t find their individual numbers or routes anywhere.
