Moi je trouve que oui mais comme tu avais déjà des doutes initiaux sur cette visite, si ça ne te tente pas plus que ça et que tu préfères privilégier les parcs et le shopping... Personnellement, je trouve ça très dommage, mais chacun ses goûts. Sur 11 jours, il doit bien y avoir moyen de rogner sur autre chose que sur Key West...

Mais je précise que j'ai été très déçu par KEY WEST cet été car je m'attendais à voir des plages et des plages, et au final pas grand chose en terme de plage et encore, je suis modeste.

Vous alliez à Key West pour la plage ? 🤪 Des plages, il y en a pourtant assez en Floride "continentale"... Quand on va à Key West, ce n'est pas pour la plage, mais pour le côté "petite ville" des Caraïbes introuvable ailleurs dans cet État. Et la route qui y mène est magnifique.

Ce que nous avons préféré dans notre visite aux Keys, c'est la route pour y aller. Ma recommandation serait donc de faire l'aller retour en 2 jours et donc de passer une nuit sur place.
Maintenant définir les priorités d'un voyage, c'est avant tout une affaire de choix et de désirs personnels...
Concernant l'hébergement, je vous conseillerai de ne réserver que la première nuit et éventuellement la dernière - surtout si vous arrivez tard et que vous n'avez aucune envie de prendre la route.
Pour les autres jours, je vous encourage à vous laisser porter par votre voyage car il y a de très nombreux motels partout et ainsi vous pourrez bénéficier des coupons de réduction et des offres du jour.
Je me demande simplement ce qui a pu vous faire croire que vous trouveriez des plages exceptionnelles à Key West... et je trouve dommage de dire que Key West est décevant sur ce simple constat.

Lorsqu'on fait un voyage en Floride, oui je pense que Key West fait partie des incontournables. Bien que notre premier séjour là-bas nous ait également déçus... Je pense que nous avions trop idéalisé cet endroit... Depuis, nous avons eu l'occasion de voir la ville sous un autre oeil puisque nous y sommes retournés 2 autres fois.
Par rapport à ton circuit, il faut rester cohérent à mon avis, inclure Miami, les Everglades, Key West, le Golfe du Mexique et les parcs d'Orlando + shopping alors que tu ne disposes ''que'' de 11 jours... pour moi ce n'est même pas envisageable puisque nous, nous l'avons fait en 3 semaines... Perso, je pense que tu devrais malheureusement faire un choix entre Key West et les plages du Golfe du Mexique pour autant que tu souhaites pouvoir bien profiter de chaque endroit.
Combien de jours as-tu prévu pour faire les parcs d'attractions à Orlando ?
mes filles 14 et 19 penchent bien sur pour les parcs

La route est superbe avec de nombreux ponts ( je crois qu'il y en a un qui fait plus de 8 kms) entre de petites ilôts.
Les plages sont sublimes et on est au Caraïbes... c'est pas les mêmes que dans le sud de la France.

Le coucher de soleil devant les paquebots de croisières,
L'ambiance y est totalement déjantée et cela n'existe et n'est tolérée nulle part ailleurs aux States (même à New Orleans, c'est plus calme le soir)...
Il faut y passer au moins une nuit, sinon ce n'est pas la peine d'y aller.
Mias obligation de réserver l'hotel dès maintenant, c'est toujours complet!
Cote Est ou Ouest?
Naples, Tampa sont très sympas et totalement différents de Miami...
J'adore!
Mais comment éviter Miami Beach, c'est le must.
C'est un peu comme ci vous alliez en vacances en Ile de France et voudriez aller en priorité à Marne La vallée, et ensuite hésiter entre Enghein, Conflent Ste Honorine ou Choisy le Roi. Ces villes sont très bien mais incomparables par rapport à Paris...
Miami Beach (South Miami Beach) cela mérite au mini 4 jours dont 3 nuits sur place.

Si vous recherchez autre chose que les plages, le calme et la tranquilité, dans ce cas je pense que Key West correspond mieux à vos critères.

A mon avis, Key West mérite d'y rester 2 nuits pour pouvoir au mieux apprécier l'ambiance. De plus, une fois que vous aurez fait la longue route des Keys vous serez contents de vous poser un peu. Si tu te décides de séjourner à Key West, question hôtels, je te conseille de réserver à l'avance.
Concernant les parcs d'attractions à Orlando, il vous faudra malheureusement faire un choix car 1 parc=1 jour. Si tu as des questions à ce propos, je pourrai peut-être t'aider... alors n'hésite pas à me demander car nous les avons tous fait plusieurs fois.
Dans un précédent post, je t'ai déjà formulé mon avis à ce sujet. Je le répète donc : Oui, les Keys sont un incontournable de la Floride. La route mérite une journée complète en faisant des arrêt ici et là : Key Largo (John Pennekamp State Park avec canpe dans la mangrove + plages + plongée), Islamorada (Chez Rubbies pour voir de très près des tarpons géants vous manger dans la main), arrêt au Seven Miles bridge, Bahia Honda State park (plage) et arrivée à Key West en fin d'après midi. Le soir et le lendemain, vous profitez de Key West puis retour en fin d'après midi...
alors pour les parcs mes choix iraient à animal kingdom, world case pour les pays mais j'ai un doute pour celui l

Nous avons eu l'occasion de visiter le Marineland d'Antibes et je puis t'assurer qu'il n'arrive pas à la cheville de Seaworld qui est vraiment top, enfin à mon avis !
Si vous êtes intéressés par le monde marin, ça vaut vraiment la peine de le visiter car c'est vraiment un parc très agréable.
Excellent choix concernant Animal Kingdom !Epcot est différent des autres parcs car il compte un petit peu moins d'attractions... il se compose d'une partie qui est dédiée à la découverte de différents pays, l'autre est axée sur les sciences et sur l'évolution des technologies. Bien que ça ne soit pas mon préféré des Disney, c'est un beau parc intéressant.Universal Studios est à ne pas manquer.
Dommage que tu doives faire un choix car ce n'est pas évident....😐
Voici mon choix très subjectif, si je devais n'en choisir que 4:Animal Kingdom.Magic Kingdom qui à mon avis est beaucoup plus magique que Disneyland Paris.Universal Studios, incontournable.Islands of Adventure. Ce parc pourrait d'ailleurs beaucoup plaire à tes enfants car il comprend quelques montagnes russes et autres manèges à sensation forte tout particulièrement dans la section des super héros Marvel. La déco de style BD est également très sympa.

Concernant les sorties du soir, il y a Universal CityWalk où vous pourrez trouver toutes sortes de restos, boutiques, cinés, boîtes, ...
Vous trouverez le même genre d'établissements à Downtown Disney où se produit le Cirque du Soleil. Petite remarque: le secteur Pleasure Island est payant.
Vous pouvez également aller faire un tour à Church Street Station situé à Downtown Orlando. Il s'agit d'un complexe de style western avec boutiques, restos, bars... C'est sympa et très animé.
Pour ce qui est des hôtels, nous aimons bien rester dans le complexe Disney car ayant des enfants ça nous fait rester dans l'ambiance et en même temps ça nous donne la possibillité de profiter de différents avantages. Nous séjournons presque à chaque fois au All-Star Resort ou au Pop Century Resort.
Je ne connais pas l'hôtel que tu cites, mais tu peux aller sur le site ''Tripadvisor'' où tu pourras lire les avis des clients.

Pour y être également allé en Août de cette année, j'avoue que je partage ton interrogation concernant les plages....
Que KEY WEST soit incontournable pour l'ambiance trés particuliére de la ville, je confirme volontiers mais nous avons été trés déçus pour les plages car nous pensions y trouver quelque chose qui rappelle effectivement les Caraibes....alors qu'a ce niveau, c'est franchement pas le top.
D'ailleurs peut on simplement parler de plage a KEY WEST ?

Je croyais vraiment avoir été sur une autre île que celle de Key West.
Si j’ai été un peu déçu en y séjournant pendant 3 jours c’est parce que en lisant des post sur ce forum j’ai assurément pris pour argent comptant ce qui s’écrivait sur Key West et ces plages magnifiques.
Même la plage à péage de la base navale de Zachary Taylor qui est sur un beau site avec des arbres des barbecues un peu de végétation etc. laisse un goût amer lorsque l’on veut rentrer dans l’eau.

Pour en revenir a KEY WEST, même si nous avons beaucoup aimé la ville et effectivement l'ambiance trés spécifique qui y régne, il n'en reste pas moins que nous nous imaginions trouver une multitude de plages et des endroits un peu "magiques" pour se baigner....
C'est de la, je penses, que vient trés souvent la déception des uns et des autres qui s'attendent, comme KW est presque en pleine mer, a être au contact de l'eau avec de superbes plages.
A Orlando je connais ''Premium Outlets'', tu trouveras la liste de tous les magasins présents sur le site. Ce sont très souvent des marques américaines qui sont représentées dans les magasins, ça vaut le coup d'y aller faire un tour....

Comme mon mari trouvait la route très longue de Miami jusqu'à là-bas et moi les hotels très chers pour 4 personnes (et je ne parle pas des B&B), nous avons trouvé une solution qui s'est avérée plus qu'agréable :
Nous avons fait une mini croisère au départ de Miami vers les Bahamas et Key West
De 1 : ce n'est pas tellement cher (concurrence oblige) comparé aux croisières porposées en méditerranée par exemple;
De 2 : Ca présente l'avantage de combiner plage, divertissement et visite de Key WEst...
Donc peut-être une piste pour ton voyage....Personnellement je ne resterais pas 3 nuits à Miami beach, à moins d'aimer vraiment se faire griller sur la plage.
Pourquoi donc ne pas faire comme nous : 1 nuit à Miami Beach mini croisière (4 nuits) au départ de Miami avec : Nassau (Bahamas) et visite de l'hotel Atlantis Cococay (île privée de la Royal Carribean) pour activités (tuba, farniente etc...) Key West

Hello everyone! Really damaged due to flooding caused by runoff after forest fires (a total mess!), does anyone in this friendly forum have any updates on the Apache Trail between Apache Junction and Roosevelt Dam? Is there still a section of the road that’s tough to navigate?
We're leaving at the end of June and will be driving the route between Buffalo and Cody. We’ve already booked our accommodations and a rodeo in Cody, but during the day, we’ll be driving between the two and I’m unsure about the itinerary.
Which route do you think is the most pleasant, interesting, or scenic between:
- The northern route via Highway 14 with Sheridan, Lowell, etc.
- The southern route with Highways 16/20/14, passing by Loaf Mountain Overlook, Powder River Pass, Ten Sleep Canyon...
We’ll be in a car, so we should be able to drive on any road.

I’m almost done planning our September road trip. After our 3-night visit to Sequoia, we’ll have a stopover night in Coalinga (to break up the drive). We’ll be staying two nights in Monterey and would like to stop along the way to visit one side of Pinnacles National Park. We’re torn between the West entrance and the East entrance, and we’d like to do a short hike of no more than 2 hours since we don’t want to arrive too late in Monterey.
This park is split into two distinct zones with no connection between them, and the mileage from Coalinga to Monterey is pretty much the same for both. Which area do you recommend visiting—east or west? And which route is the most scenic?
I’ve spotted two short hikes:
- East: Moses Spring to Rim Trail Loop
- West: Balconies Cliffs Cave Loop
Has anyone been there, or do you have another hike to suggest?

After our first trip as a young couple to the West in 2007 (yes, that doesn’t make us any younger!), we’re planning to go back in 2028, but this time as a family of four! (We have two boys who’ll be 5½ and 13 years old in the summer of 2028.)
Our plan is to combine a few big cities (SF and LA, maybe San Diego) with national parks and state parks, mostly!
Ideally, we’d like to leave at the end of June and head back to France around July 19–20, so we can enjoy the first week of the Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
Since we already did the "loop" in 2007, there are must-see places we absolutely want to revisit—and especially share with our kids: Bryce Canyon, Yosemite, and above all, the Grand Canyon, which is still the most incredible thing I’ve ever seen on Earth!
On the other hand, some places didn’t leave a big impression on us for various reasons, so we’re not making them a priority: Antelope Canyon, Monument Valley, for example.
We’re planning ahead, but might as well be smart about it😏
Do you have any tips for a fun and doable itinerary over about 20–25 days with kids, without rushing?

Just a quick question about King Canyon and Sequoia National Park.
Before our night in Miramonte, we plan to visit King Canyon. The next stop will be two nights in Three Rivers to explore Sequoia National Park. I wanted to go all the way to Roaring River Falls on the King Canyon Scenic Byway and then turn back to head to Miramonte. Since we’re coming from Oakhurst, Google Maps says it’s 300 km and 5 hours of driving. Since we also want to hike to see the sequoias (Big Stump Area and Grand Grove) before tackling the King Canyon Scenic Byway, the timing’s going to be tight. How far do you recommend going before turning back to miss as few points of interest as possible on the King Canyon Scenic Byway? Thanks for your advice, and have a great evening!

I’d like to travel along I-15N from San Diego to Las Vegas with my mom, who’s 67. We’ve explored Northern California and the California Coast over the past two years and now want to continue through the desert.
There are several attractions along the way:
- Mormon Rocks
- Desert Discovery Center and visit the Old Woman meteorite
- Joshua Tree National Park
- Mojave Desert
- Mojave National Preserve
- Anza-Borrego Desert State Park
- Silverwood Lake
My mom has back issues that prevent her from hiking or walking on trails with elevation changes. Is it possible to visit these places by car, or are the routes flat enough?
I’d love for her to experience the desert with an itinerary adapted to her condition. I’m also open to other points of interest that aren’t mentioned. We have 3-4 days for the trip, so we’re not in a rush—just want to explore.

Is it pretty easy to navigate Detroit Airport to catch the connecting flight to Grand Rapids (domestic flight)? There are several of them who speak English well.

We’d like to walk to Eagle Falls and then Eagle Lake. I’ve spotted two parking lots that seem close to each other and give access to the trailhead. Where and how do we pay for entry to Emerald Bay State Park and Inspiration Point?
**Viewpoints on the East Side:**
Are most of the viewpoints (Balancing Rock, Granite Cave, Bonsai Rock, etc.) right by the road, or do you have to hike to reach them?
**Donner Memorial State Park:**
Is it worth making a detour to Truckee to visit this park and the Truckee historic downtown?

I’ve read there are trails to access the trailheads for Cinder Cone (11 km) and Warner Valley. Are these easy trails for an SUV?
Are there any other must-see spots or things we shouldn’t miss?

I’m a total USA addict. I’ve already done several road trips, including the East Coast and West Coast.
I’m here today because I’m planning to go back for another road trip on the West Coast. Possibly with one of my sisters and a couple of friends. It’s still just a plan for now, but I’m working on an itinerary in the meantime. Ideally, I’d leave in 2026, but I don’t have the exact dates yet—maybe April-May or September-October.
My last trip to the West Coast was in September 2014. We went for 2 weeks, but this time it’d be 3 weeks. What made me want to go back was simply a colleague who just left today. As I’m writing this, he’s on the plane. I’m so happy for him, but now all I can think about is going back.
Since I recently went to NY, I noticed that prices have really gone up. I assume the same is true for the West Coast? For 2 people over 3 weeks, what budget should I expect? We’re the type to watch our spending and find great tips.
I think we’ll arrive in San Francisco like the first time and leave from either Los Angeles or Las Vegas.

Travelers to the United States | Photo Now Mandatory Upon Entry and Exit | La Presse
I assume many of you already know, but the America the Beautiful annual pass, which was $80, will increase to $250 starting January 1, 2026.
So if you're planning to travel before the end of December 2026, it's in your best interest to buy your pass in December 2025, since it will still cost $80 and be valid until the end of December 2026 if you purchase it in December 2025.
This price increase only applies to non-U.S. residents.
Additionally, for those who planned to visit just one park, a $100 surcharge per person will apply to access a list of 11 national parks...
For example, if there are 4 of you in a car, you’ll have to pay $35 + $400,
which comes to $435 to visit one of the 11 parks on the list (I don’t have all of them... Bryce, Zion, Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Grand Teton, etc.).
Total madness.
The goal is to push people who only visit one park into buying the annual pass.
Last point: free entry days are over for non-residents!

We just finished 9 days in the American West and wanted to share our experience because we had an amazing time.
I know some of you might ask, why use an agency? Honestly, we didn’t really feel like doing all the driving and planning, especially since we didn’t know the area at all. And since our English isn’t great, having French-speaking guides was a big comfort.
We found Emmanuelle and Isabelle, and wow, they were fantastic. It was just the two of us with them, so it was a truly VIP, ultra-personalized experience. They treated us like royalty from start to finish. These two live in Las Vegas and know the region like the back of their hand. They told us they’ve spent over 15 years exploring every corner of the American West, and it really shows. Their knowledge of geology, park history, and local anecdotes is just impressive. The service was really personalized. They adapted to our pace and preferences, and we could stop whenever we wanted to take photos. It’s the luxury of being in a small private group—you’re not just a number on a big bus.
In short, we really felt like we were traveling with friends rather than professional guides. Everything’s included in the price (hotel pickup, meals, park entries, etc.), so the value for money is fair.
We loved it so much that we’re already planning to come back next year to explore other areas with them. I think we’ve caught the American West bug—it’s all we can think about, and we can’t wait to return.
