Hi there, I’m planning our trip for February 2026. I’ve done my homework, but I’d still love your insights in case I’ve missed anything.

Arrival in Stone Town – 1 night

Jambiani – 6 nights. Activities with a guide: Mnemba, Safari Blue Mangrove, Nakupenda sandbank, etc. Without a guide, we’re thinking of renting bikes on the beach, visiting Maalum Cave, Jozani Forest ??? (no strong opinions), N’tende ??? What do you think? Quad biking?

Nungwi – 3 nights, mostly chilling and a sunset boat ride.

Last day: on the way to the airport, visit Stone Town and a spice farm.

For Jambiani, I was considering Garden Beach Bungalow. Any other accommodation recommendations?

Thanks a million for your feedback...

Hi there, Here are a few suggestions for your stay in Zanzibar if it helps:

Stone Town is an absolute must-visit—the old town is stunning, plus a moving moment at the slavery museum. Don’t forget to stroll through the Forodhani Gardens in the evening, where locals from Stone Town come to eat. If you're traveling with kids: take a trip to Prison Island to see the giant tortoises. (Go by 9 AM to avoid the tourist groups that arrive after 10 AM.)

Jambiani: For accommodation, also check out the Papaye Verte website—it’s a preserved spot right by the beach. Jozani Forest: Great for seeing the endemic colobus monkeys of Zanzibar, plus a walk through the mangroves. There’s a spice farm near Jozani, so you can combine both visits. Mtende Beach: Very touristy but pretty. Note that the beach is only accessible at low tide, so check the tide times. It’s one of the few beaches in Zanzibar where you can see fish near the shore, so bring a mask and snorkel, plus water shoes—there are lots of sea urchins. Mnemba Island: I think this island is closer to Nungwi than Jambiani. Also worth seeing in Nungwi: the turtle sanctuary. If you’re in Zanzibar during a full moon, it might be fun to join the Full Moon Party in Kendwa, which isn’t far from Nungwi. You can find info online. Have a fantastic time in Zanzibar!..

Hi Lionel, Regarding your trip to the Zanzibar archipelago, I see you're sticking to the main island (Unguja). Personally, I preferred Pemba Island—it felt more authentic and, most importantly, way less crowded with tourists. As for the third island in Zanzibar (Mafia), I haven’t visited it. You can check out a map of the three Zanzibar islands here: https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zanzibar_(archipel) It’s totally up to you, of course. Best,

Good evening, Just a heads-up about Jambiani: while it’s super local and really nice, if you're going for the sea and swimming, you might be in for a big disappointment. The beach slopes down a little, then it’s completely flat all the way to the coral reef, which is about 1 km out! So at low tide (or even mid-tide), the sea is 1 km away. A year ago, my wife and I were in Jambiani for a few days—we left after just one night... We’d just done Kilimanjaro and a 6-day safari and were really looking forward to swimming, but it was only possible in the morning and evening at high tide. Just search "Jambiani low tide" on Google and check out the photos.
