Weather info for an Amazon tour in May
Hi everyone. I’m planning a trip to Colombia in 2027. The idea is to arrive in May. From what I’ve gathered, that’s the start of the rainy season. Can anyone confirm that it’s already raining a lot during that period? I know the climate can obviously vary from one region of the country to another. I’d really like to go straight to Leticia in the Amazon. Any info on the weather at that time? I’m also looking for a plan for an Amazon tour. Specifically, a good, conscientious agency that does things right in terms of environmental respect. I already did a tour in Peru 10 years ago in the Pacaya Samiria reserve, and it was amazing. The simple reason was that the tour was on a motor-free canoe—we made no noise, so the immersion was total. Is it possible to find a tour in Leticia that offers a motor-free boat excursion? Thanks in advance for your answers, and fair winds to everyone!!

Which direction to explore Patagonia in February-March?
Hi, we’re planning to travel through Patagonia (Chile and Argentina) in February and March 2027. From a seasonal and weather perspective, at that time of year and with hiking as our main activity, is it better to explore Patagonia from south to north or the other way around? Thanks in advance. Is it worth visiting the Lençóis in November and December?
Hi there. On my itinerary from São Luís to Jericoacoara, I’ll be passing through the Lençóis. Is there any point stopping there this time of year? Apparently, the lagoons are dry, but aside from the lagoons, is the surrounding landscape still interesting enough to warrant a 1- or 2-day stop? Thanks in advance for your help.

Weather in Ecuador in January-February
Hi everyone, I’m planning a trip from mid-January to the end of February but I just can’t make up my mind 😕 I’ve looked into a few different options: Brazil, Cambodia, and Ecuador. The last one really appeals to me, but what’s making me hesitate is the risk of our trip being a bit too rainy (literally ), We’re more drawn to the Andes, exploring colonial cities, typical villages, markets, and a bit of the coast. We’ve already gotten a taste of this in Bolivia, Colombia, and Chile. Plus, we’d love to do part of it by car since we’re used to driving at our own pace and stopping whenever we feel like it. Anyway, time’s running out, and I need to decide so I can finalize a route and book the tickets!! Can anyone help me make up my mind or decide to postpone it for later? But for this year, I don’t have any other time slot to travel. Thanks for reading this far! !

Weather and activities in Chiloé in late August/early September
Hi there, We’re planning a trip to Chile this coming August and would love to head down to Chiloé. We’ve heard that as we go further south at this time of year, the weather gets pretty rough. What’s the weather like in Chiloé in late August/early September? What activities can we do? And which ones become really tricky because of the weather? Thanks in advance for your tips! Marie

Weather in northwestern Argentina in September
I’m taking a month-long trip to northern Argentina throughout September. Buenos Aires, Iguazu, Salta, Humahuaca, Cafayate, and if time allows, La Rioja. I’m unsure about what clothes to pack. What are the temperatures like in September? Thanks for your great tips! Dominerja

Beach climate in Brazil in July
Hello, I’m planning a trip to Brazil in July/August. The thing is, I don’t know where I could find a beach with high temperatures (24 °C / 27 °C) and a favorable climate (not too much rain) during that time. I’d like to enjoy the beach and maybe spot some marine wildlife. I don’t surf. Any ideas or personal experiences you can share?

Chile in May: weather at southern sites (Lake District and Patagonia)
Hi there, I’m heading to Chile for 3 weeks starting May 1st.

I can’t seem to find reliable info about the weather in May in the southern areas (Lake District and Patagonia).

Do you think some sites are still doable without too much rain at that time?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help! 😊

Where to travel in October worldwide based on weather
Hi everyone,

This question probably comes up pretty often, but my little family and I are planning to travel from October 17th to November 5th and we haven’t settled on a destination yet.

We’re mainly looking for discovery, a change of scenery, beautiful landscapes, and great hikes—so not necessarily by the sea—but with warm weather and not too much rain.

We haven’t decided on a destination yet, but we’d like to go somewhere "affordable," since we’re also hoping to take another two-week trip in December, so we’d like to keep the budget in check.

Since we’ve already been to Thailand, Indonesia (Java, Lombok, Bali), Mexico (Yucatan), Costa Rica, and Jordan, we’re really keen to keep exploring Asia, but the season doesn’t seem ideal. I know it’s all relative, and there must be some exceptions.

So, broadly speaking, we’re considering:

- **Asia**: Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Myanmar, India, Sri Lanka - **South America**: Ecuador, Brazil, Colombia. We’re saving the colder countries for a future trip (Argentina, Chile, Bolivia) - **Africa**: The required budgets seem higher for the countries we’re interested in (Namibia, Tanzania). We’ll save that for later. - **Central America**: Guatemala, Mexico.

Even though weather isn’t an exact science, which countries would be the best fit for our travel period with pleasant weather and a low cost of living?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Rental vehicle equipment for winter mountain driving in Peru
Hi there,

We’re heading to Peru from February 3 to 27, 2025. From the 12th to the 23rd, we’ll be traveling through high-altitude areas above 4,000 meters between Arequipa and Puno, Puno and Cuzco, and then Cuzco and Nazca. My question is whether we might encounter snowy roads, and if so, whether rental vehicles (a standard tourist car rented at Lima airport) come equipped with chains or anything similar. Thanks in advance! Eric
