Hi there,
we’re planning our trip to the North Cape this summer. We bought a new vehicle for it. Unfortunately, the registration document is still being processed, and the delay seems long—I don’t think I’ll have it in time for our departure...
I have the transfer documents, insurance in my name, and all the supporting paperwork, but not the registration document. So my question is: does the ferry company require the registration document *mandatorily* when boarding in Denmark or not?
Thanks for any insights...

Kattegat isn’t just the name of the village in the TV series *Vikings*—it’s also the stretch of water separating Denmark from Sweden... the sea, basically! And further north, you’ve got Norway and its fjords!
Originally, I’d planned to just do a loop around Kattegat, with the *Under* restaurant in Lindesnes as our anniversary treat... but along the way, we thought, why not "push" a little further north, keeping an eye on the budget since we’d chosen to travel by car in June 2025 through Scandinavia.

Why by car when most travelers opt for a camper van, while others prefer the comfort of cruises? Well, because we don’t own a camper van, renting one is pricey, and then you’ve got to add fuel costs (those things guzzle gas!), ferry fees, and other "tolls." All things considered, we went for mostly rentals—especially since there were four of us at the start of the trip. We spent the first week in Denmark with our daughter and son-in-law. Then they flew back to Belgium, and we continued our adventure as a couple. For accommodation, we mainly booked Airbnb apartments, which helped keep costs down and, most importantly, let us prepare our own meals (diet, diet!). In this travel journal, you’ll discover (or rediscover, for those who followed my older ones) our unbridled love for theme parks, museums, unique experiences, and—especially in Denmark—Legos! Unfortunately, we didn’t do any hikes this year because the unpredictable weather had made the trails slippery, and since I’d already taken three tumbles during the trip, I didn’t want to risk another! In the end, we traveled for 32 days, covered 6,200 km, and most importantly, discovered the charming country of Denmark, marveled at Norway’s breathtaking fjords—all without suffering the heatwave that hit France and Belgium that June! If you’ve got any questions, don’t hesitate to ask!

hi
I’ll be in Copenhagen this coming May for a few days.
Do you have any recommendations for things to visit?
If I had to pick one castle to visit, which one would it be?
I’m torn between: Rosenborg Castle, Amalienborg Palace, or Frederiksborg and Charlottenborg Palaces
Any suggestions?
Thanks

Hello,
This is still just a plan: My wife and I are considering a bike trip in Denmark.
The timeframe would be July 2020, for a solid three weeks. We’d prefer to do a loop to avoid seeing the same landscapes and cities. We also camp.
We have our own well-equipped bikes and a single-wheel "Bob" trailer.
We’ll likely start and finish in Copenhagen, covering 40 to 60 km per day while leaving time to explore the cities and regions.
Through word of mouth, we know Denmark is another cycling country, so we won’t have any trouble finding bike paths.
However, when it comes to documents, we’re a bit lost. Since we don’t know the country at all, we’re not sure what’s most interesting to see and travel through.
We have the double-sided *Dänemark* map at 1:150,000 from Freytag & Berndt. It shows bike routes and campgrounds (which is great!), but it’s not very practical for biking.
Our experience in the Netherlands with "road" maps that quickly fell apart in the rain showed us the limits of those documents...
Are there more practical resources? Like a bike guide similar to what we have in France or for European bike routes?
Is there a system for identifying bike route numbers like in Holland?
And of course, we’d love any practical tips—cost of living, campground prices, hospitality (which I’m sure is excellent), weather quirks, coastal areas, wind (memories of the Netherlands!!!), and, of course, your personal favorites...
Thanks in advance to all contributors;
Pierre and Dominique from Lorient

Good evening,
We’re planning a cycling tour in Denmark and I’m figuring out how to get there. We have electric mountain bikes (and since I’m really happy with mine, I’d prefer not to rent bikes there). We have 9 days.
- I looked into trains, but the prices aren’t great, and I’m worried we won’t always be able to take our bikes. Packing them in a bag and disassembling them seems overwhelming, especially given how big mine is.
- The Flexibus: we’d have to go through Paris from Lyon, which would waste a lot of time.
- Flying? It might not be more expensive than the train.
- We have a camper van, and I’m wondering if that’s an option. Do you know if you can park your vehicle for a week in a parking lot? I get the impression that parking time is limited. Thanks for your advice! Have a great evening,
Sandrine

Hi,
How do you prepare for a trip in Northern European countries when you own a 2000-model motorhome?
Hi there,
I’m traveling to Denmark this July with my three boys, aged 12, 14, and 17.
I’d like to plan a little cycling trip and I’m thinking of doing the Copenhagen–Malmö route via Helsingborg.
The idea is to take our time and stop along the way based on points of interest or for a swim if the weather allows.
I have a few questions:
- How many days should we plan for? 2, 3, or 4?
- What are the recommended stopover towns?
- What are the points of interest along the way?
- Do we need to take a ferry for the Helsingør–Helsingborg stretch? Should we book in advance?
If anyone has great tips for accommodation along the route, I’d love to hear them!
Thanks! !
Hi there,
I’m posting this because I can’t decide.
We’d like to travel in mid-October to explore a Nordic destination.
We’ll have 6 full days on-site. I’m torn between the Faroe Islands and Lofoten... What about the weather and the cost of accommodation?
My budget is a maximum of 120 € per night. I don’t want to rush but take the time to explore just one part of these islands and avoid running around too much.
The Faroe Islands might be pricier and less lively.
Lofoten requires more flight connections...
In terms of landscapes and 6-day hikes, could you share your feedback?
My request is a bit vague.
Thanks for reading!

Hi!
I’m looking for tips on how to travel by train from Copenhagen to Florence. The route from Copenhagen to Switzerland is pretty clear to me, but the part between Switzerland and my final destination in Italy is much less so...
Thanks in advance if you’ve got any great tips to share!
Nicolas
