A partir du 1er juin 2017, il faudra payer une nouvelle taxe pour rentrer au Botswana de USD30, valable 30 jours, payable par carte de crédit ou en cash aux portes d'entrée ( aéroports, frontières) pour tous ceux qui ne résident pas ou ne sont pas citoyens d'Afrique Australe ( SADC). Préparez donc de quoi payer ce 'Tourism development Levy'.

We’ve been notified by the Botswana Government that minors travelling through Botswana’s borders will be required to produce certified copies of unabridged birth certificates in addition to their valid passports effective from 1 October 2016.

Unabridged birth certificates have been a requirement for travellers entering or leaving South African borders from mid last year. Most travellers either enter and / or exit Botswana through South Africa so they would have had these documents in place already. Please take note of the below for guests entering and exiting Botswana and not coming through South Africa. Any children under the age of 18 will not be allowed to enter the country without these documents. In the event that one parent is not travelling with the child, the other parent’s affidavit consenting to such travel should also be available. However, an affidavit will not be required if the father’s name does not appear on the child’s unabridged birth certificate. CHILD AND BOTH PARENTS Parents must produce : An unabridged birth certificate A valid passport for the child

REQUIREMENTS FOR MINORS TRAVELLING THROUGH ALL BOTSWANA PORTS OF ENTRY The Ministry of Nationality, Immigration and Gender Affairs informs the general public that it has imposed requirements for minors (children under 18) travelling through the country’s ports of entry. Effective from the 1st October 2016 minors travelling through the country’s borders will be required to produce certified copies of unabridged birth certificates in addition to their valid passports. In the event that one parent is not travelling with the child, the other parent’s affidavit consenting to such travel should be availed. However, an affidavit will not be required if the father’s name does not appear on the child’s birth certificate. The development which is aimed at managing the movement of children across the country’s borders has an ultimate goal of tackling human trafficking which is a global challenge. Botswana, like other countries is affected by this problem and as such has enacted the United Nations Anti Human Trafficking Protocol; which calls upon governments to come up with deliberate measures aimed at combating human trafficking.
