Egyptian Cuisine
Location Map of Egypt
Local Cuisine
Egyptian cuisine refers to a variety of specialties from this part of the Mediterranean, with a preference for the mezze system, which is an assortment of dishes available to diners.
Other Cuisines
Beyond local specialties, you’ll also find all kinds of other cuisines in major cities and beach resorts. As for the buffets and restaurants in all-inclusive hotels, they often offer a mix of local cuisine (or that of neighboring countries) and "safe bets" from Western cuisine that their clientele is typically used to—though the quality varies depending on the establishment.

Where to Eat
You can eat well in Egypt for very little, and there’s no shortage of places to dine. From small local eateries to restaurants accustomed to tourist crowds, as well as street stalls, everyone will find something to suit them—whether for a full meal or just a quick snack.
Common thread: prices are very affordable, even more so. Expect to pay less than 5 € for a meal in local spots (though hygiene can sometimes be an issue) and around 8 € to 12 € in more touristy places. For breakfast, it’s less than 1 € locally and 2 € to 4 € for a "continental" style.
