While for many the state is limited to Atlanta and its economic dynamism or to Savannah and its typical Old South architecture, Georgia has much more to offer in terms of tourism. The area boasts a pleasant coastline, including the Sea Islands and their beaches, natural zones like the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge, which is home to birds and alligators, one of the country's main hiking trails, the Appalachian Trail stretching 3,500 km, as well as various cities and remnants of the region's Southern past (beautiful plantations, Milledgeville, Stone Mountain Park...).
