Borders

Germany has over 3,500 km of borders with nine countries: Austria (784 km), Belgium (167 km), Denmark (68 km), France (451 km), Luxembourg (138 km), Netherlands (575 km), Poland (446 km), Czech Republic (646 km), and Switzerland (334 km).

Road and rail border crossings between the countries are numerous and pose no problems. Additionally, since all are members of the Schengen Area, there are no border controls (under "normal" circumstances).
