Biscay Bridge ★
This transporter bridge, built between 1888 and 1893, connects Portugalete to Getxo. It is the largest operational transporter bridge in the world and is a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Climate and weather in Getxo

The town enjoys a cool, fairly windy oceanic climate. Summers are free from excessive heat thanks to the influence of the Atlantic Ocean, while winters are relatively mild, cloudy, and especially damp. The heaviest rainfall occurs at the end and beginning of the year. Generally, the best time to visit climatically is June to September to avoid too much rain.
