History of Le Porge

What to see and do in Le Porge

The main attractions here are its 13 kilometres of relatively quiet beaches in season, its naturist camp (La Jenny), and a great surf spot.

As is typical in the region, the beach is a few kilometres from the town, which is inland. The coastline remains quite wild, with no buildings on the shore; the few bars, restaurants, and car parks are scattered behind the dune line.

Climate and weather in Le Porge

Like the rest of the coast, the area has what’s known as an Aquitaine oceanic climate. Winters are fairly mild thanks to the proximity of the ocean, and summers are warm (without being scorching). While rain is most common in winter, it can also occur throughout the year, including in summer in the form of storms.
