Official Recommendations

In France, both for individuals and professionals, the "travel advice" from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding precautions for each country has legal value. A similar online travel advice system exists in several countries:

Crime and Delinquency

Despite improved security conditions, crime and delinquency remain significant in Colombia, particularly in urban centers.

Therefore, caution is advised. As always, by taking basic precautions such as not flaunting wealth, avoiding deserted beaches, not walking alone at night in isolated areas, opting for official taxis, and being careful in public transport, risks will be minimized. In case of assault, it is best not to resist and always have "something" to give to attackers. If you have a vehicle, it is highly recommended to use guarded parking lots, leave nothing inside, drive with windows and doors closed, and avoid driving at night.

Scams and "Tourist" Harassment

Socio-Political Risks and Terrorism

Although the situation has improved in recent years, some armed groups—from drug cartels to paramilitaries—still operate in the country. Between banditry and terrorism, violent incidents occur regularly, making border areas, the Pacific coast, and much of the Amazon regions not always advisable. In short, it is strongly recommended to stay informed about the current situation in the areas you plan to visit, especially if venturing off the beaten path.

Additionally, protests and strikes occur regularly in the country and can escalate. It is best to stay away from them.

Foreign Consulates in Colombia

If you encounter problems while traveling abroad, your country's consular services can assist you. It is also worth noting that if you are a citizen of the European Union and your country is not represented, you can contact any other EU member state's representation.
