Getting to the Balearic Islands by Air
Location Map of Balearic Islands
General Information
All the islands except Formentera have an airport. With 29 million passengers per year, the one in Palma de Mallorca is by far the most important (as well as the third in Spain), ahead of Ibiza with nearly 6 million.
Types of Flights
Charters, Scheduled, and Low-Cost Flights
Unsurprisingly, given the archipelago's intense tourist activity, charters and other seasonal flights make up the vast majority of flights, along with—given the times—the usual range of low-cost airlines, all of which are present here.
Promotions and Special Offers
As with any charter or low-cost tourist destination, promotions and special offers are numerous and regular in the Balearic Islands. They can be found through airlines or tour operators, sometimes even including other services alongside airfare.

Choosing the Best Option
Beyond prioritizing direct flights, to find the best prices, it makes sense to avoid the summer months and peak travel dates. It’s also a good idea to hunt for promotions, which are plentiful for this destination. Since not all seasonal flights appear on search engines, it may be worth checking the websites and offers of specialized tour operators. The same goes for low-cost tickets, which should be checked directly with the airlines.
It’s also worth noting that, as a tourist destination, the Balearic Islands often feature "all-inclusive" packages (flight + hotel) from travel agencies. It’s worth taking a look at these offers, especially during promotions, as they can sometimes be very attractive—even to the point where the "flight + hotel" cost is nearly the same as a standalone flight.
From the Rest of Europe
Almost all of Europe offers at least seasonal flights to the archipelago, primarily to Majorca and then Ibiza. In short, there’s no real difficulty in finding a flight during the season, no matter where you live in Europe.

From Another Country
Apart from a few connections to Algeria or Israel, the Balearic Islands are served exclusively by European flights.
