History of Tamegroute
What to see and do in Tamegroute
The Zaouïa Naciria
This religious brotherhood, founded in Tamegroute in the 17th century, established a medersa (religious centre) with a superb library open to the public. It houses ancient manuscripts, precious scientific treatises, religious works, and illuminated Qurans.
Underground town and pottery workshops
The other attraction of this small town is its maze of "underground" alleyways. Some of these house pottery workshops that still produce items in the traditional way.

Where to eat
Since Tamegroute is usually just a (quick) stop on the Draa Valley, visitors tend to sleep and eat elsewhere, such as in Zagora or M'Hamid.
