Overview
Districts and Tourist Areas
The city of Venice is divided into six historic districts, some very (or too) touristy, others not at all.

Cannaregio District
This lively and popular area is in the north of the city. Though not heavily visited, it boasts several beautiful churches and palaces, as well as the Ghetto, which was the first Jewish quarter in the Western world.

Dorsoduro District
This is the southern part of Venice, with its alleys and small canals, galleries, museums, churches, and palaces. The area is also famous for its bars and restaurants around a few squares.
