Hello

Is this Ida Ougourd’s souk?

Hello, In this area, near Ounara, one of the largest souks in southern Morocco takes place on Sundays—Had Draa’s souk. It’s really impressive.

Yes, that’s the Ida Ougourd souk. It’s really impressive, just as it is.
JE Jeeaan Globetrotter ·
Both souks are just as interesting as each other. It all depends on the day of the week you're in the area.
AX Axelfl Regular ·
Hi, Do you know which day these two souks take place? Thanks!
BB Bbayle2 ·
The one near Ounara is the Had Draa souk on Sundays. The one in Ida Ougourd is on Wednesdays

We were indeed in Ida Ougourd on a Wednesday. And we really loved that little souk. The one on Sunday in Had Dra must be much bigger.

Our last little trip to Essaouira to pick up some gift shopping because our vacation is coming to an end. And in Essaouira, there’s so much choice—the selection is huge. Then back to Marrakech to complete the loop. We found a lovely riad right in the heart of the medina, a charming riad called Riad Shama—well-located and peaceful...

The neighborhood is very authentic; it’s really nice to get lost there...

And we spent the next day exploring the medina, the souk, and doing some final shopping.

Our last meal in Marrakech, in the new town—a restaurant we discovered and really liked. And now we're leaving Marrakech, with just one desire: to come back as soon as possible.

Thanks Violette for this travel journal—it’ll keep me going until May when I (re)discover this city, which has probably changed a lot! But I’d love the name of that restaurant; it looks amazing 😛

This is Beldi Fusion Kitchen—I think it’s a chain. We really liked the mix of traditional and international cuisine. And the decor is super nice.

Marrakech is a city I enjoy spending two or three days in every time I visit. Sure, it’s touristy and quite polluted, but I love the vibe there. If you haven’t been in a while, feel free to share your thoughts—it’ll be interesting!

Have a great evening

We’ve been in Morocco for a few days now. So happy to be back in this amazing country. The weather’s already really nice, though a bit windy. But the sun is out, and being able to have breakfast outside is such a treat.
VI Viovio2 Regular ·
I think Morocco’s had a lot of rain over the past few weeks, especially in the north of the country. It’s gonna turn green again and lift the spirits of Moroccans.
DD Dd44 Veteran ·
Yes, Morocco has turned green again. It’s really beautiful.
JE Jeeaan Globetrotter ·
Yes, right now it’s really green and sometimes in full bloom.
SO Soju Veteran ·
Good news... After all this time, the whole country was waiting for rain!

Not all regions were watered as generously, but it’s better than nothing. And the snow-capped Atlas peaks gave hope that the wadis would stay supplied for a while longer.

We’ve been back for about ten days now. This trip was absolutely amazing. Thanks to everyone for sharing your best finds!
JE Jeeaan Globetrotter ·
Don’t hesitate to tell us a bit more about your trip. Have a great evening!

I'm swamped right now, but I'll get to it as soon as I have more time.
JE Jeeaan Globetrotter ·
Well, we'll wait patiently... Looking forward to reading your tips!

I don’t keep a travel journal myself, but I love reading other people’s....

Lovely trip that makes us dream of other departures.
JE Jeeaan Globetrotter ·
Dominique, I think you forgot about us... too bad. Oh well, our loss.
MI Milo53 Regular ·
It definitely takes a lot of time. And not everyone is comfortable with writing. That’s a bit like me. I’m really grateful to all those who make the effort to share their travels with us. I get so much enjoyment from reading them. And it’s such a rich source of information.
DD Dd44 Veteran ·
Thanks for being understanding. It's true, I have less time these days. And when it's not done right away, I lose motivation. That's how it is for me, at least.
MI Milo53 Regular ·
I totally get you. No worries.
VI Viovio2 Regular ·
The main thing is to enjoy yourself—no need to force yourself to write a travel journal.

Here’s an invitation to hit the road again in Morocco. We’re thinking spring 2026, but I’m already starting to plan our route.

Spring’s a great time to travel around Morocco. After winter, it’s much greener.

Writing a travel journal comes naturally, but much later. It's an inner voice calling you to pick up a pen or the keyboard. A journal is truly rewarding, first for yourself and then for others, especially when it's written in a hybrid style—I mean both narrative and poetic.

Everyone has their own way of doing things. The main thing is the enjoyment you get from it. And that will be proportional to the daily pleasure you experienced during your trip. It’s something very personal.

hi, Totally agree, Jeeaan, thanks for your feedback! 🙂 see you very soon

Thanks for your kindness. I’m hopeless—I really enjoy reading everyone’s travel journals. But I don’t give back much, or only occasionally when there’s a specific question.

Sharing others' travel stories is incredibly enriching for me! I can't wait to go to Aoukourad in October to share my photos with you all. I've stayed in Ammeln several times, and yet I've never heard of it before! 🙂
