J'ai lu beaucoup de posts sur le fait de conduire une moto à Bali, mais aucun ne m'a permis de savoir si le "pilotage" d'une moto sur l'île était aisé pour une personne n'ayant jamais conduit de moto ou de scooter...
Facilement réalisable? 🙂 De toute façon je n'aurai pas le choix mais je préfererai savoir si je revois mon assurance rapatriement ou pas!!! 😛
S'il s'agit du même genre de moto que l'on trouve en location dans les différents pays du coin comme la Thaïlande, le Cambodge, le Vietnam, alors il s'agit de moto avec boite de vitesses automatique. Tout le monde circule là dessus en Asie, de la petite soeur à la vieille grand mère. C'est vraiment sans problème. Léger, maniable, ça ne calle pas quand tu démarres...
Ca c'est une Honda Dream 125, tu vois qu'il n'y a pas de poignée d'embrayage.
J'imagine qu'on doit aussi en trouver des comme ça à Bali, y a pas de raison, vu qu'il y en a dans toute l'Asie du Sud Est...

je suis a bali pour un an et c'est vrai que la conduite est assez spéciale. Mais pas impossible, mon fils de quatorze ans a un scooter, donc!
Il te faut juste savoir qu'il n'y a pas de code de la route, pas de priorité, il faut claxonner dès que tu doubles et savoir que tout le monde déboule dans tous les sens, a part ça, ça va 😏
Quoiqu'il arrive, ne lésine pas sur l'assurance, avoir un accident ici coute très cher et il vaut mieux ne pas prendre de risque.
N'hésites pas si tu as d'autres questions, c'est tellement plus facile quand on est sur place
bonsoir, si je peux me permetre et sans vouloir casser quoi que se soit, je pense que le "PILOTAGE" d'une moto ou d'un scooter c'est le même à bali ou en france ou en suisse ou ailleurs. pour quelqu'un qui n'a jamais fait de la moto ou du scooter, je suis motard depuis 32 ans, et je déconseille vivement ce genre d'experience, que je considère suicidaire, et dangereuse aussi pour les autres usagers de la route, et cela à l'abri d'une bonne assurance.

Bojour, je suis aussi motard (depuis 25ans seulement). Tt a fait d'ac. avec ce qu'on t'a dja répondu: si t'as jamais conduit un 2 roues motorisé tu te casseras la gueule... toute seule. Que ca soit à Bali ou a Paris. La différence c qu'à Paris tu seras assurée pour tes propres dommages corporels et tes soins seront pris en charge. A Bali... ou à Cali c une autre musique. Si tu as une assistance elle exclut EXPLICITEMENT les accidents qd tu conduis et ne compte pas sur l'assurance du loueur. Ds les faits tu peux tjrs négocier avec la clinique ou le toubib pour faire passer ça pour une chute ds l'escalier ou une mauvaise angine. Mais bon, a moins de foncer tt droit ds un camion parceque t'as paniqué tu en seras quitte avec qq jolis pansements ou un platre.
Tu devrais t'entrainer sur un scooter avec un copain avant de partir. Ou si tu commences la bas, loue l'engin le + léger et va très progressivement.
Un jour tu aimeras trop ça et tu loueras de vraies motos - la vraie liberté - mais là tu sauras piloter.

En France, quand un véhicule te fait des appels de phares, c'est pour te donner la priorité...
En Indo, c'est l'inverse... Si un véhicule te fait des appels, c'est lui qui passe...

Ceux qui n'ont jamais conduit de moto, même la motobyke sans embrayage mais avec quand-même des vitesses à gérer, je déconseille.
Par contre ceux qui maîtrisent le deux-roues et qui ont l'habitude de la circulation dans les grandes villes européennes, il ne devrait pas y avoir de problèmes.
En prenant le guidon à Bali, il faut juste totalement oublier la conduite agressive pratiquée en Europe et toujours penser à rouler à gauche. Attention car les balinais circulent sur votre voie en sens inverse au bord de la chaussée ou font des demi-tours parfois imprévisibles. Attention aux chiens, ceux qui squattent la route, aux voiture qui zigzaguent entre les motobykes, aux trous, sable et enfin aux voitures qui vous dépassent. Le secret : observez comment les Balinais roulent et adapter totalement votre conduite à la leure. Attention, sur les grands axes de Denpassar par contre ça fonce ! Je conduis le 2 roues depuis l'âge de 14 ans. J'ai traversé de Saigon à Hanoi en 1996 sur une Minsk 125. Le 1er danger pour les touristes sur les routes Asiatiques c'est : les touristes !
Si tu veux te fondre parmis la population vas y parcours cette île sur ta bebek (ou scoot si tu préfères).
Tu n'auras aucun interet à prendre une moto, car tu ne pourras faire de vitesse et les bebek sont largement aussi confortables.
Les routes balinaises doivent être à mon avis les seules choses à risque sur cette île.
Les abords des villes comme kuta et denpasar sont un peu speed mais tant qu'on ne s'est pas laissé emporté par le flot de scooter on ne peut pas comprendre.
Si tu fais de la route fait attention au bémos et autres camions qui te doublent en te rasant qq fois.
Sinon ce qui m'a le plus impressioné c'est la conduite en fin d'après midi car la visibilité est réduite et toute la population se réunie à la sortie de la mosquet sur les bords des routes, et les restaurants ambulants ne sont pas éclairés.
En fait c'est vraiment facilement réalisable, juste un peu impressionnant au début.
Je ne sais pas quel est ton itinéraire, si tu souhaites faire le tour de l'île mais sache que si tu veux traverser l'île du nord au sud en passant par ubud le climat y est tropical: chaud certes mais très humide. Car il est toujours bon de savoir comment faire/protéger son sac en scooter quand on risque de rouler sous une averse même si elles sont courtes.

I’m planning a motorcycle road trip to Armenia and Georgia in September 2026 or May 2027. I’m looking for one or more riders (male or female) who’d like to explore these countries with me.
Along the way, we’ll visit Cappadocia, the capitals Yerevan, Tbilisi, Sofia, Skopje, and other cities—we can finalize the route and roadbook later.
This trip requires experience with long motorcycle journeys, as we’ll cover around 7,000 km over 5 or 6 weeks (or more, depending on sightseeing and time spent).
I don’t expect dozens of applicants, since motorcycle riders are few and far between on this forum, but I’m putting this out there anyway.
I’m starting to think about a trip that’s really close to my heart: Algeria by motorcycle, specifically the southern part of the country. It’d be for January 2025, and I’ve got two main questions:
Is it possible for an individual on a motorcycle to travel freely, outside of any organized tour, or does the regulation require some kind of supervision in the Algerian Sahara region?
Is the Hoggar massif accessible by road or by (rideable) tracks?
Beyond the official recommendations, I’m really looking for your firsthand experiences.

Why not explore the Peloponnese!
I’m not particularly drawn to museums, ruins, or monuments.
I want to experience local life—small villages, seaside spots, beaches, and the interior if the landscapes are extraordinary.
Ideally, coming from Athens, I’d take a bus or train to get as close as possible to a starting point, then rent a scooter (125cc) to explore by taking secondary roads or even coastal paths. I’d stay in 2-3 places for a few days each to discover their surroundings.

What do you think would be the ideal itinerary?
From Athens, the best option would be to take either a flight or a bus to Kalamata. Rent a scooter and head either west or east. Is there a tertiary road (very lightly trafficked) or a path where I can ride slowly, take it easy, and enjoy the scenery without being bothered by traffic? I’d like to go all the way to Monemvasia, still hugging the coast. I need to find a way to avoid returning to Kalamata to drop off the scooter and catch a flight—maybe a small town where the train stops so I can head back to Athens.

How do you get visas for the countries I’ll be crossing: Uruguay, Argentina, Bolivia, Peru, and Chile? Are they e-Visas, obtained at the border, or through embassies?

I’ve got 15 days off in June and I’m pretty undecided about where to go for a motorcycle road trip. Two strong desires are pulling me in different directions: Corsica or Norway.
Corsica has been a dream of mine for a long time: legendary roads, stunning landscapes, a unique vibe, and the perfect mix of sea and mountains. At the same time, I’m wondering if 2 weeks might be *too much* for Corsica—risking feeling like I’ve seen it all too quickly, especially on a bike.
Since I also have an extra week free in May, I could use that specifically for Corsica. Maybe splitting it into two trips would make more sense? If so, which routes or regions would be the most interesting to plan for a 7-day trip?
On the other hand, Norway is *super* appealing. The landscapes look incredible, totally different from anything I’ve experienced, and it’d be a real “wow” trip. I know 15 days is still short for such a vast country. Getting all the way to the North Cape seems pretty much impossible in that time, but I’m curious about what realistic routes could be planned.
So I’m wondering:
Is it better to save Norway for next year, take 3 weeks off, and do it *properly*?
Or are 15 days enough for a first amazing taste of the country?
I’d love to hear about your experiences—whether it’s Corsica (ideal duration, routes) or Norway (what’s realistic in 2 weeks on a bike).

Hello! We’re planning a motorcycle trip that will include a visit to Auschwitz-Birkenau in June 2026.
We’re unsure (still debating) whether we should stay at a hotel on-site and get to the memorial with an Uber (leaving our bikes at the hotel) and book a guided tour, or base ourselves in Kraków and take a tour that includes transport.
One thing’s for sure—we’d prefer a guide in French since we don’t speak English 😅.

Unfortunately, I’m worried that parts of the N630 may have disappeared or merged with the A66 motorway, forcing us to ride long stretches of highway, which we’d rather avoid.

This is our first motorcycle trip in Morocco. I got my license two years ago with the dream of taking this kind of trip, and here we are! ✌️😍
In France, we usually ride between 300 to 400 km per day on roadsters. We’re not used to off-road tracks, so we’re looking for easy ones 😅—especially for me 😅.
For Morocco, I’ve planned stages of 200 to 300 km per day.
Here’s the idea:

Day 2: Tafingoult - Amzarkou - Telouet (200 km - 4h34)
