Hi there, what’s good to do around BKK for 2 days outside of Bangkok? We’re wrapping up our Laos-Cambodia-Thailand trip. We don’t want to stay in BKK anymore (we’ve been there many times over the past 35 years), and someone mentioned Kanchanaburi. Is it worth it? Any other suggestions, keeping in mind we’re not looking for beaches (we already know Thailand’s beaches well). All recommendations are welcome—we’re on a tight schedule as we head back to Thailand on February 3rd and have 2 days to spend outside Bangkok from the 7th to the 9th of February. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help! Tialou

Hi, just an hour west of Bangkok there’s the city of Nakhon Pathom, which has one of the largest Chedis in the world, the Phra Pathom Chedi.

Hi, Kanchanaburi (town) and its nearby surroundings are definitely worth the trip, but they require more than 2 days. Visiting the province takes 9-10 days. Nakhon Pathom: a good suggestion, but 2 days will be too much. In the immediate vicinity of Bangkok, you’ve got the charming and rural Koh Kret, which is worth a day if you leave the main village to bike (rentals available on-site) or walk around the island (about 6 km). In 2 days, Nakhon Pathom + Koh Kret = a great plan.

hi, still to the east, the city of Chachoengsao: 3 temples and a splendid bird park. A clean and very well-renovated city, in the evening the two main streets are bustling with original and lively restaurants that stay open late. It's 50 km from Bangkok, but you'll need a way to get around.
