Oman with a one-year-old in September: feasible or not?

Hello,

We’d like to travel to Oman in September for about two weeks. Our baby will be one year old then, and I’m wondering if the heat might still be too stifling at that time of year. What do you think?

Do you know if it’s easy to find baby food jars and diapers there?

We’re open to any feedback in general about a road trip with a little one if some of you have done it 😊

On another note, I see that a lot of sites recommend a 4x4. Do you think it’s really a must? I’m worried it’ll blow our budget… If you have a car rental company to recommend, we’d love to hear about it!

Thanks so much, and have a great day! ☀️☀️

Hi there, don’t do that! September is still way too hot (40°C). The streets are empty from 11 AM to 5 PM. Your baby will get dehydrated. And generally speaking, Oman is a country for adventure, wadi crossings, and mountains. You’ll get bored with a baby. Do some research on this country. Good luck

Hi there, It’s doable, yes—we saw families with babies, but that was in December/January 2025. September’s way too hot to enjoy with a little one. You’ll find everything you need in Oman’s big cities—diapers, baby food, etc. For two weeks, you don’t necessarily need a 4x4. Plenty of wadis are accessible without one, and lots of trails are doable without 4x4 for part of the way.
Bienheureux les fêlés, car ils laissent passer la lumière.
