That’s for Raga, this series !;)

Exactly! (Raga, if you’re reading this :P) I remember their photo showing a dead dog on the floor of a butcher shop in China (I think), ready to be used in some broth or grilled dish. I didn’t find the scene great—the photo, though, was dramatically beautiful. Raga called me a naive soul

A dead dog in court-bouillon, even in China, is enough to scare more than one goose!

The crossing of the Mara River by thousands of wildebeest is a spectacle every year.

The wildebeest can wait for hours, even days, on the other side of the river.

When one of them finally makes up its mind, there’s a stampede into the Mara, followed by a deafening uproar of bellowing.

Phew! The river has been crossed, the wildebeest are safe and sound, and calm returns instantly.

Following up on Dolma’s misty landscapes,

Out of the mist:

Griffon vulture in the Verdon Gorge

Buffaloes in the middle of the road in Aberdare National Park, Kenya

Rushing to take shelter in Madeira’s laurel forest

Hi,

The link is inactive, but I was able to watch the video HERE.

Those clowns took off after their stunt. Better safe than sorry!

I recently witnessed a scene that could’ve ended in a similar disaster at the Musée Marmottan. Too many people in cramped rooms. Someone got too close to the works, was jostled, and nearly fell onto some Eugène Boudin paintings.

Thanks, I’ve updated my link.

These are attacks! One day, we’ll either need to protect works with a glass screen like for La Pietà or seriously regulate the flow of visitors.

Hello,

After cows, dogs, wildebeests...

In Mali: better together than alone

This new format is really appealing. Great job!

The flip side of the contest, the other side here ;) San Gerardo de Dota Valley, 6:30 AM, 2,200m altitude, the quest for the Quetzal is on...

Ugh, is this the local photo club? 😄

You wouldn’t happen to have a blue dog, would you? 😉

I stepped out of my comfort zone with my second series by photographing people 😊 I hesitated with this series in a documentary style, featuring these sardine fishermen in Oman packing up their fishing nets.

The nets are washed in the sea.

Then the fishermen take them far from the shore,

to spread them out and dry them.

That’s exactly what I thought when I saw your series 🙂 Like, “Let’s see… hmm… this shouldn’t be as good as with animals… ha ha, it’ll be weird scoring zero points ” But no, it’s beautiful. You really know how to use your camera.

I’ll still point out that overall, the photos are well-crafted. And if some are a bit awkward, it’s no big deal—they still tell an interesting story. The great thing about series is that if one image isn’t as strong as the other two, it still works. That’s the power of a series—it’s always more impactful than a single photo.

Voting’s gonna be tough!

Indeed, the photographers are ready 😄... but it doesn’t feel too dreamy 😕 I get the impression there’s a point you shouldn’t go beyond?

So! Did I pass the test, Kate? 😃 But don’t worry, I’m not done surprising you yet! 😊 😆

True, the photographers are ready 😄... but it doesn’t exactly spark dreams 😕 I get the feeling there’s a point you shouldn’t go beyond?

Actually, the valley is pretty steep, with only one road running through it. But it’s famous for being the home of the Quetzal, Costa Rica’s iconic bird that lives above 1,500m. A few eco-lodges (including ours) sell you a 100% guaranteed hike to spot the bird starting at 6:00 AM—the creature avoids the sun. The hike takes you up the road in a 4x4 for about 10 minutes, where guides know exactly when and where the bird will appear... Right place, right time! And $20 per person, please 🤪 The lineup of spotting scopes is just a coincidence—no imposed limits.

That said, this valley was absolutely stunning, like a Garden of Eden.

Newbie here, but this topic raises an issue I hadn’t considered. It’s so broad that there are endless possibilities, with wildly different suggestions, and voting is going to be even trickier...
