Nous , nous avons fait tirer la manette d'un jeu au casino à notre fille de 16 ans, 5 vigiles de l'hotel nous sont "tombés" dessus, les papiers de notre fille étant restés dans la chambre, ils sont montés avec nous et sont entrés dans notre chambre !!!!
Environ 1/2 heure de remontrance....et le devoir de quitter l'hotel sur le champs !
Nous avons obtenu de dormir cette nuit là (il était un peu près 2 h du matin) et de partir dès 10 h le lendemain.
Notre fille est fichée et n'a plus le droit de revenir dans un casino à Las Vegas à vie !
Alors ne rigolez pas avec les règles aux USA !
Je suis désolée pour vous. Ca n'a pas du être une expérience plaisante... Et oui aux USA on ne plaisante pas avec la loi.
Cependant je rectifie un peu votre message. Ce n'est pas le Strip qui est interdit aux mineurs après minuit mais bien l'accès aux casinos et ce quelque soit l'heure de la journée . En fait les lois du Nevada sont assez précises là dessus : Pour jouer aux casinos et boire de l'alcool, vous devez avoir plus de 21 ans!!!
Si vous avez moins de 30 ans vous devez toujours avoir une pièce d'identité sur vous pour justifier que vous avez plus de 21 ans (si c'est le cas😛 )
Si vous avez moins de 21 et que vous êtes en train de jouer, vous verrez effectivement une nuée de vigiles se ruer sur vous, car si le casino ne respecte pas cette loi, il peut perdre sa licence de jeux !!! Et si vous avez eu la main heureuse (et que vous êtes âgé de moins de 21 ans) vos gains seront confisqués immédiatement.
Certains hôtels sont encore plus stricts (comme le Bellagio par ex), ce qui peut expliquer qu'on vous ait demandé de quitter l'hôtel sur le champs.
Et de manière plus générale, la loi n'autorise pas les majeurs à jouer au casino si ils sont en compagnie de personnes de - de 21 ans. Vous risquez là aussi d'avoir des problèmes.
Vous pouvez juste traverser les salles de jeux et de machines à sous et normalement sans vous arrêter😕.
Quand à l'interdiction à vie des casinos à Las Vegas, il faudra vérifier auprès d'un avocat la réalité de la chose si elle veut y retourner jouer un jour. (après ses 21 ans😠)

Désolée pour votre mésaventure. Dans mes posts, j'avais déjà signalé qu'il y a même un couvre feu applicable aux mineurs en plus de l'interdiction d'approcher les slots.

Mais c'est une information qui revient très souvent sur les forums. Les mineurs ont le droit de traverser les salles de jeu, mais pas de s'arrêter devant les machines à sous ou les tables de jeu. Donc pas le droit de jouer. Et ce n'est pas "après minuit", c'est 24h/24h.
Mais ça n'a rien à voir avec le Strip, les enfants peuvent se promener avec leurs parents, même la nuit.

Une fois, alors que je jouais à une machine à sous de l'Excalibur, un vigile est venu me demander mon passeport. Je précise que j'avais 31 ans. 😎
C'est vrai que ca peu paraitre exageré quand meme de demandé le passeport meme quand on voit bien que l'on ne fait pas 21 ans.
Au casino j'ai jamais eu de probleme mais pour boire au bar on m'a regulierement demander mon passeport alors que j'ai trente ans.J'ai meme deja vu dans un bar , un serveur demander le passeport d'un gars qui fesait au moins 40 ans j'etais sur le cul 🙂
Mon mari a été obligé de présenter sa ID à la caisse d'un supermarché pour l'achat d'un pack de bière (la soixantaine, les cheveux grisonnants….)
Comme il voulait sa bière, il a sorti son passeport. 😉

Cheveux grisonnants pour moi aussi et 2 mésaventures en supermarché (je ne sais plus où exactement, Utah sûrement ou zone Indienne ???):
- un dimanche matin.. le rayon bières et alcools avec grilles métalliques fermées et sous clef... Frustration !
- en semaine avant 10h00, interdiction de sortir avec le pack de bière qui était dans le caddy... avant l'heure c'est pas l'heure !
A mon avis ta fille était seule au casino après 22h ou minuit (selon que c'était en semaine ou le WE), et a joué à une machine à sous, une ou sans doute plusieurs fois alors que le personnel le lui avait interdit....
Si elle était avec vous et avait juste essayé 1 fois, ils auraient juste fait la remarque qu'elle ne devait pas rester à coté des machines à sous, poliment mais fermement...Pour être "expulser" il faut accumuler les non-respects des règles, et ne pas respecter les consignes données.....

Il est donc utile de traduire et de lire que le Strip est interdit aux mineurs après minuit et jusqu'à 5 h du matin le lendemain (vendredi et samedi uniquement) si ils ne sont pas accompagnés d'un majeur qui en a la responsabilité légale. C'est une nuance qui peut avoir son importance 😉

Effectivement, les règles sont les règles et ils ne plaisantent pas du tout avec ceux-ci... Je dirais même que les passe-droits n'existent pas : si on n'a pas 21 ans, on n'a pas le droit de s'arrêter devant une machine un point c'est tout! Petite anecdote : en 2009, nous étions au Monte Carlo avec notre bébé qui avait quatre mois à l'époque. Lui, faisait dodo paisiblement dans sa poussette et nous jouions à une machine à sous. Et bien, un gardien bien costaud est venu nous prévenir que nous devions arrêter de jouer immédiatement. J'ai donc demandé pourquoi et le gars de me répondre : «Les mineurs ne sont pas admis dans le casino.» Vous imaginez? Tout ça à cause d'un mignon bébé qui ''était arrêté'' et ne ''circulait'' pas... J'ai vraiment trouvé que c'était exagéré et je le pense encore d'ailleurs. Je comprends quand l'enfant marche, touche à tout et peut physiquement mettre de l'argent dans une machine, abaisser le levier, appuyer sur des boutons... Mais franchement, avec un bébé qui fait dodo, c'est trop ridicule.
Alors quand je dis qu'ils ne rigolent pas, je veux dire qu'ils ne rigolent VRAIMENT pas...

Ma "qualité" de "senior" (ici et là-bas !) avec mes 67 ans en 2010, la serveuse d'un bar de l'aéroport d'Atlanta a exigé mon ID pour un demi de bière pression !! J'ai eu beau la remercier humoristiquement du compliment, rien n'y a fait !
Un citoyen-client local m'a rassuré : il y avait eu droit aussi, malgré son aspect adulte confirmé !

Oui, c'est une idée.... mais comme tu peux t'en douter la serveuse a des ordres formels de son boss : "pas d'ID, pas d'alcool". Mais là-bas aussi le "gros bon sens" est bien peu la règle !!
Où j'ai eu ma petite vengeance, c'est quand la fille a eu mon passeport sous les yeux alors qu'elle attendait un permis de conduire... Elle n'a même pas cherché à déchiffrer ma date de naissance... de toute façon écrite à l'envers pour elle !
Comme quoi il y a une différence entre vérifier l'âge et juste exiger une ID !!!!

je pense que pour ne pas être accusé de discrimination vis-à-vis des jeunes qui peuvent facilement être à 1 an ou 2 ans près de l'âge fatidique sans être sûr ... et éviter que les serveurs se demandent s'il faut ou pas demander à untel ou untel, ils demandent à tout le monde, même si ça frise le ridicule.
Au moins, tout le monde est au même niveau et c'est un critère important aux USA.
Pour ma part, je reviens d'un circuit dans l'Ouest des Usa avec deux jours à Végas avec ma femme et mon fils de 17 ans.
Je me suis arrêté dans un casino pour regarder, jusque quelques secondes, les mises à la roulette.
De suite, on a demandé l'ID de mon fils avant de le faire avancer illico. Ca n'a pas trainé.
Mais d'une façon très polie et courtoise.
Idem dans un magasin où nous nous étions arrêtés sur le Strip pour acheter des bouteilles... d'eau.
Mon fils a du sortir car ils vendaient en majorité de l'alcool.
Ils sont stricts mais après tout, nous sommes dans leur pays et devons respecter leurs lois.

D'après ce qui est écrit dans tes citations, il semblerait que l'alcool ait été vendu en dehors des magasins d'état regroupés sous l'enseigne Systembolaget (http://www.systembolaget.se/English/).
Or ce sont les seuls qui sont autorisés à vendre de l'alcool au delà d'un certain degré alcoolique (plus de 3,5°). Ces magasins sont en petit nombre et ouvrent à des heures déterminées.
Tout ceci a été fait pour restreindre la consommation d'alcool, quoique les croisières entre Suède et Finlande servent souvent de défouloirs pour un certain nombre de buveurs impénitents.
Tout cela pour dire que la consommation d'alcool y est très encadrée et que certains comme toujours font du zèle.

Interdiction des mineurs sur le Strip après minuit le vendredi et le samedi jusqu'à 5 h du mat le lendemain matin SAUF si ils sont accompagnés par un adulte responsable légal du jeune. Ce n'est pas moi qui le dit mais le site institutionnel de la ville de Las Vegas.

Moi j'ai fait mon premier séjour à Vegas à 21ans (et 2 mois) mais je fais assez jeune physiquement (surtout comparé aux américaines) et je peux dire qu'en effet c'est pas vraiment très drôle. Obligé d'avoir le passeport sur soi en permanence, souvent sollicité pour le montrer. Par contre l'année dernière à 31ans ils m'ont pas trop embêté avec ça 😄
Dans certains casinos j'avais eu un espèce de bracelet sticker (truc de festival) pour signaler au personnel que mon age avait bien été vérifié et que je pouvais jouer mais une fois sortie de ce casino je devais souvent remontrer mon ID.
Donc en effet à Vegas ça ne rigole pas ... en même temps je ne comprends pas ce topic il y a des règles, si on les contournes on s'expose donc consciemment à des sanctions (mêmes si elles peuvent paraître disproportionnées)... ce n'est pas parce que la France est laxiste que les autres pays doivent l'être 😏

Ce qui m'étonne, c'est que vous ignoriez cette interdiction, en ce qui concerne les casinos et les jeunes de moins de 21 ans !
Nous sommes allés à Las Vegas l'été 2012, et pendant la phase de préparation, j'avais bien lu, à plusieurs reprises, que les mineurs n'avaient pas le droit de jouer, ni même de regarder les autres jouer. Ils pouvaient traverser les salles de jeux des casinos...mais sans jamais s'arrêter, ni donc évidemment toucher à quelque machine que ce soit. Le Guide du R...pour n'en citer qu'un le précise bien 😊 "Tant que vous marchez avec eux, on ne vous dira rien, mais ne vous avisez pas de vous arrêter devant une machine à sous."
Nos 2 ados étaient donc briefés, ont vu les tapis verts de loin, et marchaient en permanence quand nous passions au milieu des machine à sous.

Hello everyone! Really damaged due to flooding caused by runoff after forest fires (a total mess!), does anyone in this friendly forum have any updates on the Apache Trail between Apache Junction and Roosevelt Dam? Is there still a section of the road that’s tough to navigate?
We're leaving at the end of June and will be driving the route between Buffalo and Cody. We’ve already booked our accommodations and a rodeo in Cody, but during the day, we’ll be driving between the two and I’m unsure about the itinerary.
Which route do you think is the most pleasant, interesting, or scenic between:
- The northern route via Highway 14 with Sheridan, Lowell, etc.
- The southern route with Highways 16/20/14, passing by Loaf Mountain Overlook, Powder River Pass, Ten Sleep Canyon...
We’ll be in a car, so we should be able to drive on any road.

I’m almost done planning our September road trip. After our 3-night visit to Sequoia, we’ll have a stopover night in Coalinga (to break up the drive). We’ll be staying two nights in Monterey and would like to stop along the way to visit one side of Pinnacles National Park. We’re torn between the West entrance and the East entrance, and we’d like to do a short hike of no more than 2 hours since we don’t want to arrive too late in Monterey.
This park is split into two distinct zones with no connection between them, and the mileage from Coalinga to Monterey is pretty much the same for both. Which area do you recommend visiting—east or west? And which route is the most scenic?
I’ve spotted two short hikes:
- East: Moses Spring to Rim Trail Loop
- West: Balconies Cliffs Cave Loop
Has anyone been there, or do you have another hike to suggest?

After our first trip as a young couple to the West in 2007 (yes, that doesn’t make us any younger!), we’re planning to go back in 2028, but this time as a family of four! (We have two boys who’ll be 5½ and 13 years old in the summer of 2028.)
Our plan is to combine a few big cities (SF and LA, maybe San Diego) with national parks and state parks, mostly!
Ideally, we’d like to leave at the end of June and head back to France around July 19–20, so we can enjoy the first week of the Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
Since we already did the "loop" in 2007, there are must-see places we absolutely want to revisit—and especially share with our kids: Bryce Canyon, Yosemite, and above all, the Grand Canyon, which is still the most incredible thing I’ve ever seen on Earth!
On the other hand, some places didn’t leave a big impression on us for various reasons, so we’re not making them a priority: Antelope Canyon, Monument Valley, for example.
We’re planning ahead, but might as well be smart about it😏

Just a quick question about King Canyon and Sequoia National Park.
Before our night in Miramonte, we plan to visit King Canyon. The next stop will be two nights in Three Rivers to explore Sequoia National Park. I wanted to go all the way to Roaring River Falls on the King Canyon Scenic Byway and then turn back to head to Miramonte. Since we’re coming from Oakhurst, Google Maps says it’s 300 km and 5 hours of driving. Since we also want to hike to see the sequoias (Big Stump Area and Grand Grove) before tackling the King Canyon Scenic Byway, the timing’s going to be tight. How far do you recommend going before turning back to miss as few points of interest as possible on the King Canyon Scenic Byway? Thanks for your advice, and have a great evening!

We’ll be alternating between house swaps, motels, and campgrounds. I’ve booked all the accommodations (except the campground at Bryce since sunset bookings open only 14 days in advance) and the first activities, as well as the most touristy ones.
I’m currently putting together my day-by-day roadbook and having some trouble planning certain days, like in LA or Las Vegas. Choosing hikes isn’t easy either—it’s tough to decide!

I’d like to travel along I-15N from San Diego to Las Vegas with my mom, who’s 67. We’ve explored Northern California and the California Coast over the past two years and now want to continue through the desert.
There are several attractions along the way:
- Mormon Rocks
- Desert Discovery Center and visit the Old Woman meteorite
- Joshua Tree National Park
- Mojave Desert
- Mojave National Preserve
- Anza-Borrego Desert State Park
- Silverwood Lake
My mom has back issues that prevent her from hiking or walking on trails with elevation changes. Is it possible to visit these places by car, or are the routes flat enough?
I’d love for her to experience the desert with an itinerary adapted to her condition. I’m also open to other points of interest that aren’t mentioned. We have 3-4 days for the trip, so we’re not in a rush—just want to explore.
I’d love to take a road trip and visit Nova Scotia. I’d appreciate some info on the best cities to see and the most interesting spots. The trip should last about 10 to 15 days, staying in hotels or motels. Thanks in advance!

Is it pretty easy to navigate Detroit Airport to catch the connecting flight to Grand Rapids (domestic flight)? There are several of them who speak English well.

We’d like to walk to Eagle Falls and then Eagle Lake. I’ve spotted two parking lots that seem close to each other and give access to the trailhead. Where and how do we pay for entry to Emerald Bay State Park and Inspiration Point?
**Viewpoints on the East Side:**
Are most of the viewpoints (Balancing Rock, Granite Cave, Bonsai Rock, etc.) right by the road, or do you have to hike to reach them?
**Donner Memorial State Park:**
Is it worth making a detour to Truckee to visit this park and the Truckee historic downtown?

I’ve read there are trails to access the trailheads for Cinder Cone (11 km) and Warner Valley. Are these easy trails for an SUV?

I’m a total USA addict. I’ve already done several road trips, including the East Coast and West Coast.
I’m here today because I’m planning to go back for another road trip on the West Coast. Possibly with one of my sisters and a couple of friends. It’s still just a plan for now, but I’m working on an itinerary in the meantime. Ideally, I’d leave in 2026, but I don’t have the exact dates yet—maybe April-May or September-October.
My last trip to the West Coast was in September 2014. We went for 2 weeks, but this time it’d be 3 weeks. What made me want to go back was simply a colleague who just left today. As I’m writing this, he’s on the plane. I’m so happy for him, but now all I can think about is going back.
Since I recently went to NY, I noticed that prices have really gone up. I assume the same is true for the West Coast? For 2 people over 3 weeks, what budget should I expect? We’re the type to watch our spending and find great tips.
I think we’ll arrive in San Francisco like the first time and leave from either Los Angeles or Las Vegas.

I assume many of you already know, but the America the Beautiful annual pass, which was $80, will increase to $250 starting January 1, 2026.
So if you're planning to travel before the end of December 2026, it's in your best interest to buy your pass in December 2025, since it will still cost $80 and be valid until the end of December 2026 if you purchase it in December 2025.
This price increase only applies to non-U.S. residents.
Additionally, for those who planned to visit just one park, a $100 surcharge per person will apply to access a list of 11 national parks...
For example, if there are 4 of you in a car, you’ll have to pay $35 + $400,
which comes to $435 to visit one of the 11 parks on the list (I don’t have all of them... Bryce, Zion, Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Grand Teton, etc.).
Total madness.
The goal is to push people who only visit one park into buying the annual pass.
Last point: free entry days are over for non-residents!

We just finished 9 days in the American West and wanted to share our experience because we had an amazing time.
I know some of you might ask, why use an agency? Honestly, we didn’t really feel like doing all the driving and planning, especially since we didn’t know the area at all. And since our English isn’t great, having French-speaking guides was a big comfort.
We found Emmanuelle and Isabelle, and wow, they were fantastic. It was just the two of us with them, so it was a truly VIP, ultra-personalized experience. They treated us like royalty from start to finish. These two live in Las Vegas and know the region like the back of their hand. They told us they’ve spent over 15 years exploring every corner of the American West, and it really shows. Their knowledge of geology, park history, and local anecdotes is just impressive. The service was really personalized. They adapted to our pace and preferences, and we could stop whenever we wanted to take photos. It’s the luxury of being in a small private group—you’re not just a number on a big bus.
In short, we really felt like we were traveling with friends rather than professional guides. Everything’s included in the price (hotel pickup, meals, park entries, etc.), so the value for money is fair.
We loved it so much that we’re already planning to come back next year to explore other areas with them. I think we’ve caught the American West bug—it’s all we can think about, and we can’t wait to return.
