Hi everyone, I’m planning a trip to Mauritius—anyone have advice on when to go? I’m thinking April, May, or June for my stay. Which month would you recommend for the best beach weather, sunbathing, and exploring the island? Thanks!

Hey! April, May, or June are climate-wise okay, but January and February can be a bit risky with occasional cyclonic weather—bad conditions (you’ll be stuck inside).

Hi there, 😊 and thanks for your reply. Yeah, I’d seen that January/February is a period to avoid... I’m looking at Grand Baie as a starting point for May, but I haven’t decided anything yet. I’ve heard mixed things about visiting the island in May... Have a great evening

Hi, thanks for your reply 😊 The weather conditions aren’t easy to predict, but it’s always good to have a general idea for May. Have a great day!

Hi Franky69,

It depends on what you want to do.

February is the hottest and most humid month. Cyclones start in Nov-Dec and can last until April-May, but they’re still extremely rare.

The period from Dec to Feb is the busiest, so there are tons of tourists everywhere on the island.

In May, it’s cooler and there are fewer tourists, with generally great weather—blue skies—but it’s chillier and windier.

There are loads of amazing things to do, like swimming with dolphins or even walking with lions or cheetahs… (Yes, you walk with the lions in the same enclosure. Guaranteed thrills! ;) )

My wife and I own a house and two bungalows on the west side of the island if you’re interested ;)

See you soon on our beautiful island.

Hi there, I recently asked myself the same question about Mauritius and looked into the climate by month. From what I saw, January and February can be very hot but also quite humid, and it’s the time when cyclones can occur. April seems much quieter—less rain and still warm enough for the beach. Apparently, May to October is often considered the most stable period, especially September-October.

So April seems like a pretty good option to me, though it really depends on what you want to do while you're there 😎 While researching, I came across a site that compares the months using weather data from recent years—it was really helpful for getting an idea.
