From Caño Cristales to Tayrona Park
Hi there,
we didn’t run into any security issues in Bogotá or anywhere else. Neither during the day nor at night. Our hotel was close to the pedestrian street and Bolívar Square right in the heart of La Candelaria, and it was a real pleasure to stroll around there. No problem walking to the funicular either.
Even less to worry about in Villa de Leyva or Barichara.
There are plenty of buses from Bogotá to Villa de Leyva.
Between Villa de Leyva and Barichara, there’s no direct bus. But it’s easy to manage.
Villa de Leyva / Tunja / San Gil. We took a taxi between San Gil and Barichara for convenience, but you can do it by minibus (we took one on the way back). In Barichara, you can grab a tuk-tuk to drop you off right in front of your accommodation if needed.
The bus terminals are very well organized, and the buses leave on time.
This was our second time in Colombia, and we still didn’t have any security issues (see our travel journal *Rencontres, paysages, culture en Colombie*).
If you need anything, feel free to reach out. Happy to help if I can!
