Thanks everyone for your messages!

The project is coming together—the lodges are booked. Now I’m looking to book a flight from Seronera to Zanzibar. Any airline you’d recommend? I was looking at FlightLink or Auric Air.

Thanks a lot! 🙂

We traveled with FlightLink.

From Seronera to Arusha on a Cessna Caravan (14 seats). Just one pilot and it shakes a bit. Fun for some, stressful for others.

From Arusha to Stone Town on a superb ATR 72. No issues, it was perfect. Just a reminder, you need to show mandatory insurance upon arrival in Zanzibar. But you can also pay for it on the spot (around $50 per person).

Note that we left Seronera late, but since the Arusha flight was waiting, we arrived safely (with a good hour’s delay).

No other experience.

Hello,

Over the course of 5 stays/safaris in southern Tanzania, I’ve taken 18 Cessna Caravan flights between various reserves and Mombasa (and used 4 different airlines, including Auric Air and FlightLink). There’s no real difference between the airlines.

I’m an aviation fan, and I love flying in these planes—they’re perfectly suited for the African bush. Sure, it can get a little bumpy: we even flew through a pretty intense rainstorm once, and the raindrops hitting the metal sounded like hail!!

But it’s amazing to see the landscape from low altitude and sometimes spot elephants or giraffes. It’s "real aviation," old-school style, with a modern and reliable aircraft.

That said, it’s important to note that these planes usually require soft-type luggage (no hard-shell suitcases), and there’s a maximum baggage weight of around 15 kg...!! Check each airline’s baggage policy.

If the plane isn’t full, there might be some flexibility, but still be careful! Safe travels. Best,
