This is a trip of about a month (from September 3, 2025, to October 4, 2025), or rather a part of that trip. This part matches the title exactly: an opera festival in Verona (one evening) and the Dolomites in the Veneto region.

Hi there,
I’d like to spend a week in the Dolomites (4 days of trekking and a few day hikes). Unfortunately, it’ll be in August (no choice). My questions are:
- For a first time in the Dolomites, which 4-day trek should I pick? I’d love the most spectacular and varied landscapes possible. Around 1,000m elevation gain per day.
- Is it busier the first or last week of August?
- Will it still feel "quiet" while hiking? Not like a conga line in August...?
Thanks so much for your help! !

Hi everyone!
I’m putting together our travel itinerary for Veneto at the end of April. And the more I look and research potential sites to visit, the more I find!
We’ll only be there for a week—my family and I—including 3 days in Venice. So we have to make some choices...
I plan to rent a car when we arrive in Venice and head straight to Bergamo, which would be our first stop. We’d leave the car at the airport when we return to Venice so we can explore the city at our leisure.
What do you think: 1 night in Bergamo (a 2h15 drive from Venice airport), 1 night in Garda, 1 night in Verona, 1 in Padua, and 3 in Venice—would that be doable?
Thanks in advance for your tips and experiences! :)

Planning a trip to Italy in October. I’d love to hear about your experiences. Thanks!
Hello,
We’ve just returned from our cruise on the Smeralda. There were four of us in balcony cabin 17001—a nice cabin with a large balcony and a very practical bathroom, though storage was a bit tight for four (small wardrobe and small shelf).
Our assigned restaurant, El Meneghino, served good and hearty meals.
The buffet was fine—since it’s a large ship, we always found free tables at different times, whether for breakfast or lunch. The food was good but not very varied.
Be sure to check the daily program for meal times, as they change every day with different options: either buffet, fixed-menu restaurant, or both.
The pools and jacuzzis were very small and crowded, and despite the nice weather that week, we never saw the aquapark open.
There are plenty of bars where you can easily find a spot to enjoy a drink in peace or with music.
The theater was very small and had unusual hours. Over the week, we only managed to see two shows live—the rest were on TV in the cabin.
We did two Costa excursions: one in Rome with the express train, which was very pleasant, and the other in Pisa, which was well-organized for independent exploration.
Overall, we were quite satisfied with our trip, but we still prefer MSC. Have a nice Sunday.
Hi there, I live in Quebec and I’m planning a trip to Italy. We’re thinking of visiting Rome, Florence, Venice, and Tuscany. Here are a few questions I haven’t been able to find clear answers to online. If anyone can help, I’d really appreciate it—thanks in advance!
- There are different City Passes for Rome. I’ve found the differences between them, but whenever I try to simulate a purchase, I’m always redirected to another site like Tiquet. Is there an official Tourism Office website for these?
- Is it easy to get around Tuscany by public transport, especially in the Chianti region?
- For guided tours (or not), which company do you prefer? Get Your Guide? Viator?
Looking forward to your recommendations—thanks again!
