Is it easy to navigate Detroit Airport?
by Cece21 · 2026-03-08 · 2 replies
Hi, My 16-year-old son is flying to Grand Rapids with other kids his age. There’s a layover in Detroit. There’s no unaccompanied minor service available. Is it pretty easy to navigate Detroit Airport to catch the connecting flight to Grand Rapids (domestic flight)? There are several of them who speak English well. Thanks for your replies,
How long does passport renewal take?
by Gelas06 · 2025-12-18 · 6 replies
Hello,

I applied for a passport renewal at the beginning of November, and my town hall told me it would take about a month to get it. However, I still haven’t received it, and it’s been over a month now. When I checked the ANTS website to track my passport application, I saw that its status changed to "In production" on November 27th. Today is December 18th, and I still haven’t heard anything about receiving it, even though I’ve read everywhere that once the status is "In production," it usually takes about a week to get the passport. I’m starting to worry about not having received it yet...

Do you know what the current processing time is after it reaches "In production" in 2025? Is there a risk that the passport was made but lost in transit?

I’m concerned because I have a trip planned for 2026—admittedly not until April, so there’s still time in theory—but my application seems to be stuck.

Either way, I’ll contact the town hall soon, though I don’t think they’ll have more information...

Thanks, Have a good evening
Our experience in the American West with a French-speaking guide
by Twachi06 · 2025-11-30 · 5 replies
Hey everyone!

We just finished 9 days in the American West and wanted to share our experience because we had an amazing time.

I know some of you might ask, why use an agency? Honestly, we didn’t really feel like doing all the driving and planning, especially since we didn’t know the area at all. And since our English isn’t great, having French-speaking guides was a big comfort.

We found Emmanuelle and Isabelle, and wow, they were fantastic. It was just the two of us with them, so it was a truly VIP, ultra-personalized experience. They treated us like royalty from start to finish. These two live in Las Vegas and know the region like the back of their hand. They told us they’ve spent over 15 years exploring every corner of the American West, and it really shows. Their knowledge of geology, park history, and local anecdotes is just impressive. It’s nothing like someone reciting a memorized script. They answer all your questions and really adapt to what you want to see or do.

What we really loved: the vehicle was super comfortable, and the little details made a difference—like snacks and even a homemade cake! Though, to be fair, we devoured the cake right away, so that counts.

Since they know the sites inside out, they took us at the right times to avoid crowds. So we could enjoy peaceful picnics at Grand Canyon viewpoints without being packed in with 200 people. Plus, on top of the must-see spots, they showed us some hidden gems that were absolutely stunning—places we never would’ve found on our own. They’re true locals who know all the best tips.

The service was really personalized. They adapted to our pace and preferences, and we could stop whenever we wanted to take photos. It’s the luxury of being in a small private group—you’re not just a number on a big bus. In short, we really felt like we were traveling with friends rather than professional guides. Everything’s included in the price (hotel pickup, meals, park entries, etc.), so the value for money is fair.

We loved it so much that we’re already planning to come back next year to explore other areas with them. I think we’ve caught the American West bug—it’s all we can think about, and we can’t wait to return.

If you’re looking for a French-speaking tour with real personalized service and guides who know the region like no one else, we highly recommend them. We had unforgettable moments. They also design road trips for those who don’t want a guide. And they handled our hotel reservations in Las Vegas too. If you want genuine advice from friendly locals, we’re giving them a 200% recommendation!
Annual National Parks Pass
by Usafan · 2025-11-27 · 48 replies
Hi everyone.

I assume many of you already know, but the America the Beautiful annual pass, which was $80, will increase to $250 starting January 1, 2026.

So if you're planning to travel before the end of December 2026, it's in your best interest to buy your pass in December 2025, since it will still cost $80 and be valid until the end of December 2026 if you purchase it in December 2025.

This price increase only applies to non-U.S. residents.

Additionally, for those who planned to visit just one park, a $100 surcharge per person will apply to access a list of 11 national parks... For example, if there are 4 of you in a car, you’ll have to pay $35 + $400, which comes to $435 to visit one of the 11 parks on the list (I don’t have all of them... Bryce, Zion, Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Grand Teton, etc.). Total madness.

The goal is to push people who only visit one park into buying the annual pass.

Last point: free entry days are over for non-residents!

That’s all for now.

How many days should I plan for Nova Scotia?
by Apolloroux · 2025-08-19 · 12 replies
Hi everyone,

I’m planning a trip to Canada this fall. I have 19 days total. The trip will start in Quebec, then continue to Gaspésie, New Brunswick, and finally Nova Scotia. I’ve already mapped out my itinerary, and it only leaves me with 3 days (including the departure day) in Nova Scotia. We’ll be flying out of Halifax for the return. That’s really not much time—just enough to see Halifax and the surrounding area.

I’d love to hear your thoughts: would it be better to cut some days from Gaspésie or New Brunswick to have more time in Nova Scotia? Do you think I’d be missing out by not spending more time in the region?

Thanks in advance to anyone who’s visited these parts and takes the time to reply.
Should I plan 1 or 2 days to visit downtown Boston?

Hi there.

I’m heading to the US in September and stopping in Boston. I’ve got a baseball game booked for Sunday afternoon. Is Monday enough to soak up the highlights of the city, including Harvard?

Thanks for your tips!

Hi,

Bad news for foreign visitors 🙁. No info yet on when this will take effect or the cost of the Beautiful Pass, currently at $80.

United States: Donald Trump raises national park entry fees... for foreigners

Not exactly the best Independence Day news 🙁

Entry Requirements for the United States

Hi there,

I’m not sure what’s being said on the various European diplomatic sites, but on the Belgian one, they mention that an ESTA and/or visa aren’t a guarantee of entry. Immigration services have the final say—they could even ask to see your electronic devices like phones, tablets, or cameras. And there might be extra hassles for LGBTQIA+ travelers.
Family Road Trip: San Francisco - Portland - San Francisco
by Drekafluga · 2025-01-10 · 12 replies
Hi there,

We’re planning a family road trip (kids aged 10 and 15) over 23 days between San Francisco and Portland (Northern California and Oregon). It’ll be a loop. We want to take our time with hikes but also enjoy the cities to relax a bit (Portland / SF).

Here’s our itinerary—I’d love your thoughts on the places we’ve picked, suggestions for stops along the way, and whether this route is doable given the distances (especially Tahoe Lake to Crater Lake and Crater Lake to Portland):

Day 1: Arrive in San Francisco midday, head to Yosemite (3 nights). Day 1/2: Yosemite Valley / Glacier Point, etc. Day 3: Tioga Road with a stop at Mono Lake (1 night in Bridgeport). Day 4: Bodie in the morning, then drive to North Lake Tahoe (2 nights in North Lake Tahoe). Day 5: Lake Tahoe. Day 6: Long drive to Crater Lake via Burney Falls? (2 nights in Fort Klamath). Day 7: Crater Lake. Day 8: Drive to Portland via Bend (4 nights in Portland). Days 9–11: Portland + Columbia Gorge. Day 12: Portland to Newport via Highway 101: Cannon Beach/Tillamook (1 night in Newport). Day 13: Newport to Golden Beach via Florence/Oregon Dunes (1 night in Golden Beach). Day 14: Drive to Jedediah Smith Redwood State Park (3 nights near Crescent City). Days 15–16: Redwood National Park (Fern Canyon / Avenue of the Giants, etc.). Day 17: Drive along the coast via Eureka / Fort Bragg (1 night in Willits). Day 18: Drive to San Francisco via Napa Valley (5 nights in SF). Days 19–22: San Francisco. Day 23: Departure.

Everything’s booked but still flexible, so I can adjust if needed.

Thanks in advance!

by Nimou74 · 2020-08-25 · 7 replies
Bonjour,

by Jjay37 · 2020-07-18 · 19 replies
Bonjour,

Roadtrip Black Hills - Yellowstone - Oregon
by Bladkaizer · 2020-07-13 · 11 replies
Hello,

J4: Custer SP / Mt Rushmore - Nuit à Keystone

J5: Deadwood > Aladdin > Devil's tower > Hulett - Nuit à Hulett

J6: Little Big Horn BF - Nuit à Sheridan

J9: Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone - Nuit sur Mammoth hot springs cabin (Pas le choix)

J10: Grand Prismatic / Madison / Norris - Nuit sur Old faithfull Lodges

J11: Old faithfull (West thumb?) - Nuit sur Old faithfull Lodges

J12: (West thumb?), passage par Grand Teton NP - Nuit à Jackson

J13: Crater of the Moon NM - Nuit à Hailey

J14: (Shoshone Falls?) Bruneau Sand Dunes SP - Nuit à Meridian

J15: Malheur Butte / John Day NM - Nuit à Mitchell

J16: John Day NM / Smith Rock SP - Nuit à Madras

J17: Portland - Nuit à Portland

J18: Astoria - Nuit Astoria

J19: Lake Quinault / Ruby Beach - Nuit à Forks

J20: Hoh Rain forest / La Push / Second Beach / Rialto Beach (+Trail?) - Nuit à Forks

J21: Neah Bay / Cape Flattery / Shi Shi Beach - Nuit à Lake Crescent

J22: Sol Duc Falls / Bainbridge Island - Nuit à Bainbridge Island

J23: Ferry jusqu'à Seattle - Seattle - Nuit à Seattle

J24: Seattle - Nuit à Seattle

J25: Retour

by ZTK · 2020-06-10 · 41 replies
