Where to stay for a week and explore Oman with a guide?
Hello,
Yes, it's totally doable, but it really depends on what you'd like to discover.
With just 7 days, I’d recommend planning two accommodations rather than one. That way, you’ll spend much less time on the road and get more out of your visits.
For example:
• 3 nights in Muscat to explore the capital, the Grand Mosque, Mutrah, the forts, and the surrounding areas (Bimmah Sinkhole, Wadi Shab...).
• 3 or 4 nights in the Nizwa region, perfect for discovering the Jebel Akhdar or Jebel Shams mountains, traditional villages, forts, and, if you're up for it, a trip to the Wahiba Sands desert.
This setup lets you visit Oman’s main sights in great conditions, with a comfortable pace that many travelers appreciate.
Wishing you an excellent trip preparation! If you have any questions about travel times or organizing your itinerary, I’d be happy to help.

What's the best time to visit Oman?
Hi,
It all depends on the type of trip you're looking for.
In my opinion, the best time to visit is from October to April. The temperatures are pleasant, perfect for exploring the wadis, the desert, the mountains, and traditional villages.
October - November: mild temperatures and landscapes still very green after the Khareef in the south.
December - February: the most pleasant period, with sunny days and cool nights, ideal for the desert and camping.
March - April: still an excellent time, with warmer water for swimming, even if temperatures start to rise.
If you're planning a specific itinerary, I'd be happy to advise you on the best regions to visit depending on the season.
Happy trip planning!

Travel companion for Oman – 1 month from mid-February to mid-March
Hello,
I’m looking for a female co-traveler to join me in Oman for a one-month period from mid-February to mid-March.
We’ll rent a Toyota 4X4 locally for 1 050 € for the month—I’ll be driving the vehicle.
At the moment, there are two vehicles in our group, with a gentleman who’s going for the 4th time.
We’re planning free camping on-site, alternating with accommodations roughly every 8 days.
Planned itinerary: Muscat, heading south to the Empty Quarter desert, then back up along the coast, canyons with swimming along the way, and the Hajar Mountains on the return to Muscat.
I’m a 70-year-old woman, experienced in travel.
Write to me for more details.
Thanks.
Hi, Your travel plans sound really inspiring, and the timing is perfect for exploring Oman. If I may share a quick tip from a local guide: some tracks, especially in the Empty Quarter or certain mountain and wadi areas, can change depending on terrain conditions. It’s always a good idea to check locally before heading out. With a month there, you’ll also have plenty of time to discover traditional villages and lesser-known landscapes that are well worth the detour. Wishing you an amazing adventure in Oman! If you need any advice on routes, access conditions, or must-see sites, I’d be happy to help. Best regards, Aymen, French-speaking guide in Muscat

Looking for travel companion(s) for Oman - March-April 2026
Hi Patrice,
Your travel plans sound really interesting, and the timing you’ve chosen (late March to early April) is perfect for exploring Oman.
If I may share a few tips as a local guide:
For areas like Jebel Shams, Wahiba Sands, or some of the wadis, a 4x4 vehicle is highly recommended.
The main roads are excellent, but some tracks require a bit of off-road driving experience.
With nearly three weeks there, you’ll have plenty of time to see both the must-see spots and some much quieter places.
If you’re planning your itinerary and have questions about routes, accommodations, or which sites to prioritize, I’d be happy to help.
Wishing you a fantastic trip prep, and maybe see you in Oman soon!
