hi! In Takeo Onsen there’s a really beautiful hot spring establishment—it’s a restored historic building with rooms.
Happy travels

Questions about budget and payments in Japan
Hi there! There are tons of well-stocked convenience stores with little snacks to munch on (onigiri, sandwiches, fried chicken, drinks, desserts...)
Often, after a good breakfast at the hotel, I just grab something like that for lunch.
In the evening, I spend between 10 and 15 € max.
These same convenience stores have ATMs for withdrawing cash.
Some charge fees (660 yen, or 3.7 €) for 20,000 yen—this is shown before the final confirmation.
Others are fee-free, like ATM+, I think, and you can even set the language to French 👍
You’ll often need cash for small amounts.
I recommend getting an IC card per person and topping it up—it’s super handy and often replaces cash.
Have a great trip!
Withdrawing cash from ATMs at Tokyo Haneda
Hi, there are several ATMs at the airport, also near the station for buying tickets or topping up your IC card.
But I don’t know the commission rate.
It’s between 0 and 660 yen for 10,000 yen.
The exchange rate is good right now.
Have a great trip!6
Going to Japan for 2 to 3 months, what are your tips?
Hi there!
In 2 or 3 months, you’ve got plenty of time to make it all the way to Hiroshima and Miyajima—it’s really great!
A stop in Okayama and Himeji 😊 too!
Happy planning!

Kyushu between Fukuoka and Nagasaki in autumn 2024 (Japan)
Hi there!
I’ve planned my itinerary using info from different forums and Facebook groups.
I’ll be in Kyushu for almost my entire stay—25 days in November.
I’m planning to travel slowly and only use public transport (ferries, buses, trains, etc.).
It’s super exciting to plan, can’t wait...
Have a great day everyone

Kyushu between Fukuoka and Nagasaki in autumn 2024 (Japan)
Yeah, I’ve planned my trip:
a few days in Kyoto when I arrive, then I’m taking a ferry to Beppu (departing from Osaka), followed by
Aoshima, Kagoshima, Yakushima, Kumamoto, Unzen Onsen, Nagasaki, Takeo Onsen, Fukuoka, and 3 nights in Tokyo before heading back...
I’ll be there the whole month of November—I can’t wait!
Wishing you all the best on your travels

Hello,
Could you please give more details about the observatory? Is it only accessible by car?
I’ve spotted Mount Inasa, which is accessible by cable car...
Thanks a lot!
I’m following your travel journal with great interest—it’s really inspiring me for my upcoming trip to Kyushu this November.
Trip to Japan in autumn 2025 with a child
A visit to one of the 2 teamLab spots could be nice...
Hiking stop between Matsumoto and Tsumago
Yeah, it gets pretty crowded during the day.
It's really nice to rediscover the village when the crowds have left or early in the morning.
I was at Magoma Chaya—it’s great, halfway up the alley, with good meals.
Hiking leg between Matsumoto and Tsumago
from what I remember, I arrived in Nakatsugawa by train and took a bus to Magome.
I stayed overnight in Magome, then hiked to Tsumago.
In Tsumago, I took a bus to Nagiso, and from there a train to Nakatsugawa, Nagano... quite a long day
Hiking leg between Matsumoto and Tsumago
Yeah, it's possible, but I'm not sure it's really worth it—you might end up walking along the road... Otherwise, walking to Nagiso is possible too.
Japan: First Discovery!
Thanks for sharing!
It’s really interesting and inspiring for my next trip.
Happy holidays to you!
Japan: First Discovery!
I also think it’s one of the most beautiful castles with its well-maintained walkways. There’s such a lovely atmosphere there! 👍
Japan: First-Time Discovery!
It's not comparable—when you organize things yourself, it's definitely cheaper... Japan is easily accessible, and any worries about transportation don’t last long. It’s really easy and very well signposted.
There are lots of lines that intersect or require transfers, but if you follow Google Maps, there’s no way to go wrong.
In Kyōto, it’s mostly bus lines, and I found that a bit more complicated, but it’s all relative.
At worst, if you make a mistake, you just backtrack!
If you don’t have a precise arrival time, it doesn’t change much.
However, when planning your day, allow extra time for transportation. The stations are huge, and in Kyōto, for example, it took me a good 10 minutes to cross the station even when walking fast.
Next time, I’ll book a hotel near the bus station... 😅 Have a great trip!

Thanks so much for sharing this! It’s really inspiring—I’m keeping all the info for a solo trip next November... but I won’t be able to stay as long, and I’ll be getting around by public transport.
Thanks!
Thanks!
