There is no noise from the construction in the completed section. I was there in January and I am returning next week.

The waves are strong enogh to boogie board but the hotel does not have any boogie boards.

There is no snorkeling in front of the hotels. On green flag days you can swim out where it is 25 feet deep and it's still sand. At the west end of the beach past all of the hotels there is a small point and reef that is good for snorkeling. Bring some bread or bananas to feed the fish. It takes about 40 minutes to walk there along the beach. You could also take a bike from the hotel (free) or scooter (rent) and get there by road.

hi, I dont think it took me more than about 10 minutes. It's possible to cut across the pool area because there is a bridge that goes across the pool. As I mentioned (maybe on another forum), there are lots of electric carts around and they arrive quickly after a phone call to the front desk.

Les bloques 08, 09 et 10 ne pas prete quand j'ai depars la semaine passe. Je ne pence pas que ces bloque a prete pour un autre mois ou deux. Je reste dans le bloque 06 et tres convenient pour moi.

Le Barcelo ouvert le 24 Dec. Je va a 1 Janvier et j'ai mon voucher pour le Barcelo. Mon premier semaine, a commencer le 25 Dec, je reste a le Melia Las Dunas mais demanager a le Barcelo le 1 Jan.

Je depart le 25 Decembre et retour le 8 Janvier. Les date que je reste a le Barcelo est 1 Jan a 8 janvier 😉

Anyway, I am booked to go to the Barcelo Cayo Santa Maria for two weeks starting 25 Dec with Air Transat Holidays. Yesterday I received an email from Air Transat saying that the Barcelo was opening on 24 Dec but Air Transat wasn't sending any clients there until the next week and gave me three choices: 1. Move to Melia Las Dunas for two weeks and recieve $100 compensation when I return. I could also chose to spend my second week at the Barcelo. 2. Chose another date and/or hotel and pay the difference in price. 3. Get a full refund.

I chose the first option with staying at the Barcelo the second week. Today I received my eticket that has two hotel vouchers, 1 week at Melia Las Dunas and another for 1 week at the Barcelo. I think it will be fun to try two hotels on one vacation. This is my first trip to Cuba and mt first time in an AI.

So, I think those of you going in January shouldn't worry about the Barcelo being open or not 😎
