Looking for a less touristy Thailand itinerary in February?

Hi, if you're heading to Koh Chang and find it too crowded, push on to Koh Kood. Happy travels!
Too much info: which quiet island in Thailand to enjoy the beach and snorkeling?

Hi there, we're currently on Koh Chang, everything's going well—no worries at all. We're not exactly thrill-seekers, though. So far, so good!
Safety in Chanthaburi - Trat and Ko Kood
by Enavent · 2026-01-19 · 0 replies
Hello, does anyone know if it's still advised against traveling to Chanthaburi, Trat, Ko Chang, and Ko Kood? On thailande.gouv, they recommend staying more than 10 km away from the Cambodian borders. I don’t know if that’s a good idea. But on TripAdvisor, it seems to be discouraged.

Hello, we’re currently on Koh Chang. Everything is calm. No problems coming from Bangkok, just a few military personnel at the ferry departure and arrival. It seems there are fewer tourists. We’ll see.
Old Burmese adventures (oh, how many!)

Hello, to answer your question. It was in 1985, I was traveling with NF, and we stayed at the Strand Hotel. You could believe that no maintenance had been done since the British left. Broken windows, a flush mechanism that no longer worked—everything was dilapidated. Outside, the sidewalks were completely wrecked, and there was no point in looking before crossing the avenues since there was no traffic... And if I may add to the story: At the airport, I didn’t see any RATP buses, but a kid tried to buy my pack of cigarettes for a few kyats?!? I realized later that he just wanted the plastic bag containing the pack... On top of that, we arrived during demonetization. The exchange rate was super interesting—everyone wanted to get rid of their large bills on the black market. To get into the city, we chartered old, big American cars (like in Cuba). They had nothing—I remember that on our first night, we went to a "restaurant" that didn’t even have a bottle opener... just a piece of wood with a bolt (very ingenious). However, we could find Coca-Cola and Fanta—it’s amazing how these brands take root everywhere in the world. So, it was poverty, but not misery (it seemed like everyone had enough to eat). At the time, the dilemma was whether to visit this country—risk enriching the dictatorship or allow the population to connect with foreigners. For me, it was my first time on a plane, so you can imagine...

Hi Arthur, thanks for your reply. I thought it was the start of the good season—what do you mean by "cooler"? Colder? And what about the other side of the Gulf of Thailand? We’re staying in this beautiful country for over a month. Best,

Hi everyone, great to be back here. In 10 days, we're heading to Thailand to escape the gloomy weather here and warm up our old bones over there. On the southeast coast, we're torn between Ko Chang and Ko Kood—we're looking for tranquility and the chance to do some snorkeling along the coast. Do you have any great tips for accommodation (max 30 €)? Maybe we should head straight to the southwest coast instead. Thanks for your input!
Which airline should I choose for Thailand from Toulouse?
by Enavent · 2024-10-30 · 8 replies
Hello, my current question: which airline to choose — the cheapest and also the one with the shortest travel time from TOULOUSE? Thanks for your help

Hi there, we’re also from Toulouse and we’re leaving on November 13th for BKK with Lufthansa on an A380 via Munich. Maybe not the cheapest, but a good European airline with not-too-long layovers. Watch out: checked baggage is extra, otherwise it’s only 8 kg in the cabin, which is a bit tight. We booked in September with flexible dates... Happy travels
