Yeah, it's super high-end, but the prices are scary😎

Thanks for this detailed review! What’s the price range like? If you had to pick one place, which would it be?
Thanks

Doctor recommendations in Bangkok
Hi there,
I'm currently in Bangkok: How can I find a good doctor for a consultation? It's for a friend who'd like a second medical opinion compared to what they got in their country of residence. Any professionals you'd recommend? How much does it cost?
Thanks for your help

Flight refund due to war in the Middle East
Yeah, a big detour if we go around the south: I think we could easily add 2 hours to the original duration. Thanks Songsam for your cooperation (you really got what I meant ;))

Thanks for your reply,
Sure enough, checking the routes, the flights do go through Egypt before reaching Oman via Saudi Arabia. The only downside is that we end up right in the path of potential Houthi fire toward Israel 😐.

Hello, Hi there,
I have a flight scheduled for next week with a layover in Muscat (Oman Air). Given the current situation in the region, can I request a refund for my ticket based on the risks involved?
Thanks for your helpful comments! :)

Gulf Airlines
Okay, I'll check that out, thanks. Just so you know, I have a 5-hour layover on the way there and a 2-hour-50-minute layover on the way back with Air India. I've already tried Air India before, but it was a while ago (even back then, the security check-in was already a bit long). Like I mentioned earlier, the experience with this airline wasn't the worst (but not the most pleasant either 😎)
Gulf Airlines
Okay, I finally found 2 interesting tickets: Air India or Royal Jordanian, around 650 € with decent layovers (which one should I choose??)
Gulf Airlines
Ah, okay, that explains it. For me, it's 1 month😎
Gulf Airlines
Nice one! Great deal. How many weeks? I know that often affects the price.
Gulf Airlines
True, it’s still a good deal for Emirates. Though, worth checking the layover durations?
Gulf Airlines
Yeah, that's what I was saying in the title... plus, nothing exciting about the duration (less than a month). Yesterday, I checked for the period I'm interested in, and the best price from a Gulf airline was with Gulf Air: 868 € with a reasonable layover. 😎
Gulf Airlines
Yeah, sure (not for a big family 😏)
Gulf Airlines
😎 Can you believe I got the same thing: Qatar Airways... but when I ran the simulation for a Paris/BKK flight, it turned into 1100 € (great promo, right?🤪). You know, these airlines do this kind of little marketing stunt all year with a really tempting headline, but in the end, the prices are way higher than what they used to charge us.
City to visit in the Isan region (Thailand)
I think I'll give Nakhon or Nong Khai a try. Thanks a lot, friends, for your help! 🙂
City to visit in the Isan region (Thailand)
Thanks to everyone for your suggestions (it’s clear there are some real experts here😉)! Just to clarify my request a bit: My question is, which is the most interesting CITY (I’m a hardcore city-dweller—countryside or islands bore me after 48 hours max😏) in Isan (within city limits)? I’m not talking about the surrounding areas (though that could be a bonus), but a pleasant, walkable city where you can stay a few days, with some things to do in the evening (not a sleepy town). Basically, the Chiang Mai of Isan, if you will😎

Thanks, Songsam—I’ll take a closer look at these cities. At first glance, Roi Et caught my eye (I’m more of a city person than a countryside one).

Gulf Airlines
Yeah, it’s true—those low prices we’d gotten used to, weren’t they just a magical interlude when you compare them to the years when you had to fork out 10,000 francs to travel to the other side of the world? The fierce competition in the airline industry, especially with the rise of Gulf carriers over the past few decades, has definitely worked in our favor as travelers. Digging through my emails, I found flights with Etihad for 430 € 😮, and even a direct round-trip with AF in that price range (though no checked baggage—can’t push it too far 😎)!! But it’s also true that no matter how much fares increase, planes are still packed to the brim (fewer flights? Other airlines that didn’t survive the COVID years?...). Anyway, I’ve included a little link in English that explains some of this:
https://www.agbi.com/analysis/aviation/2024/11/gulf-air-traffic-rebounds-but-fares-still-high/
PS: Sure, you can still find "cheap fares" around 500 €, but at what cost (no pun intended 😏)… enduring endless layovers or flying all the way to China with those airlines we know 🤪 just to get back to BKK (no thanks 😏)

Cities to see in the Isan region (Thailand)
Hi there,
I’m about to take a trip around the region in March. According to the "experts," which cities are really worth the detour? My key criteria: a slightly lively downtown + walkable. I’ve already been to the region a few years ago, but my memories are pretty mixed (Ubon Ratchathani, Udon Thani, Khon Kaen).
Thanks😎
