Where to see bioluminescent plankton in Krabi?
Hi there, I’ll be spending a week in Ao Nang, including two days in Railay. I can’t find the exact info on where I can see bioluminescent plankton from the beach. I think it’s in Railay, but where exactly can you observe the phenomenon?
Should we book airport-hotel transfers and Krabi-Ko Phi Phi trips in advance?
I came to Krabi for 5/6 days 15 years ago, and my partner and I really fell in love with it. We're heading to Phi Phi because I've already visited all the islands on the east coast, and even though I know what to expect from Phi Phi, I still want to see it. For the rest of the trip, we'll be staying 10 days in Ao Nang because we want to explore and extend our visits inland while still enjoying the area. We'll finish with the best part: 8 days in Chiang Mai! !
Should I book airport-hotel and Krabi-Ko Phi Phi trips in advance?
Thanks for the reply. I’ve already been to Thailand fifteen years ago, backpacking with no real itinerary for six weeks, but I wasn’t traveling with kids then! I know in theory everything should be easy, but with kids I can’t just let them sleep anywhere or anyhow. Plus, I’ve always received great tips from this forum, so thanks!

Should we book airport-hotel and Krabi-Ko Phi Phi trips in advance?
Hi there, I’m arriving in Thailand with my family on February 9th (2026). We land at BKK that day and then take a direct flight to Krabi.
My first little question is this: We’ve booked a hotel 4 km from the airport (B2Krabi). Should I reserve a taxi through an app (which one?) to get there, or do you think I’ll easily find a taxi/tuk-tuk on the spot, considering we’ll arrive around 8/9 PM? Any idea of the expected price (for three people) for this short trip?
For the Krabi/Ko Phi Phi route, I’m not entirely sure where the departure point is—I’ve attached a photo of the map. Which company is the most affordable? Do you think I can buy my ticket the day before departure and still be sure to get seats? Is it better to book in advance (and if so, on which site)? Same question for the return trip from Ko Phi Phi to Krabi!

Ferries from Krabi to Ko Phi Phi
Mistake on the date—it's February 2026, not 2025! !

Price for domestic flight Krabi-Chiang Mai
Thanks for the info! 😊
Price for domestic flight Krabi-Chiang Mai
Thanks for the reply. Regarding airlines, I’m not looking at posts, but these are from 2016. Basically, which airline is decent?
Prices for domestic flight Krabi-Chiang Mai
Hi everyone, I’m planning a trip to Thailand.
Since we’ll only be there for two and a half weeks, we want to visit the Krabi area and then Chiang Mai. So we won’t take the train—it’s too long in terms of travel time. We’re wondering if it’s more worthwhile to buy the flight tickets on the spot? If so, is the price difference really significant? From what I see on online booking sites, you’re looking at between 35 and 60 € per person for a Krabi/Chiang Mai route.
Traveling without reservations with a 10-year-old in Thailand
In Asia, I’ve never booked anything except the first and last night.
But I’m traveling with my little guy and I’d like to avoid hassle as much as possible.
A few times, I’ve ended up searching for hotels at 10 PM and winding up in some… let’s just say not very well-frequented guest houses.

I’ve always planned my trips thanks to this forum, and if I’m asking this question, it’s because I imagine there are still a few travelers who enjoy going with the flow wherever they please!
Traveling without reservations with a 10-year-old in Thailand
Hi there, it’s been a good 15 years since I last set foot in Thailand.
Back then, I spent 6 weeks there with my partner, traveling backpacker-style without ever booking anything in advance, and we always managed to find a guesthouse. Now we think our son is old enough to travel the same way.
Do you still find it just as easy to snag a guesthouse room everywhere?
What’s the average price range these days in the north and the south?
For our route, we’re thinking roughly BKK / Koh Tao / Koh Samui / Krabi, then the Chiang Mai area. Thanks in advance for your tips!
