I’m planning to go to Oman in December (the 9th, if there aren’t too many geopolitical issues) for a month. I canceled this trip last year because of the war. I’m flying with Pegasus for 350 € round trip (easy to cancel in case of war). Is there anyone interested in sharing a car rental? Man or woman. I’m 77 years old and travel a lot around the world. I contacted a travel agency in Almaty, and they’re offering a trip to Charyn Canyon and Altyn National Park with an overnight stay, then they can drop me off at the Kyrgyzstan border in Karkara (so I won’t be returning to Almaty). The cost is $700 USD—it’s pricey solo, but if there are 3 or 4 of us, it seems like a great deal. Are there any backpackers interested in joining this part of the trip on June 7, 2026? (My flight to Almaty is on June 4 from Lyon with Pegasus.)

I’m planning to visit Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan in early June, assuming the war doesn’t spread ??? Could anyone give me some info about the eastern border after visiting Charyn Canyon? First, is it possible to head east using public transport, or should I book a tour from Almaty and stay in the east to continue on to Kyrgyzstan toward Karakol? (I mean, not return to Almaty with the tour.) It’s a bit of a vague question, but those who’ve been there will know what I’m talking about;

Hello, I’m 76 years old and travel a lot around the world. I’m planning to go to Oman from March 19 to April 8, 2026. (After that, I’m off to Turkey to meet some friends.) I’m looking for a fellow traveler to share a car rental to explore some off-the-beaten-path spots. I just got back from Cape Verde, and before that, I was in the USA, Japan, Chile, etc. I usually travel solo, and obviously, I meet a lot of people along the way. For Oman (and Namibia next year), it seems more practical to travel with 2 or 3 people. That’s all! Patrice

I arrive in Fogo at 11 a.m. (if the ferry is on time) from the ferry departing Praia. From what I understand, the collectivos to Cha das Caldeiras leave late morning? Do you think I can leave the same day?

My question is: should I spend a night in São Filipe? I don’t want to take a taxi—it’s too expensive.
