Motorcycle Companion for Road Trip in Spain and Portugal in April-May 2026
I'm looking for a fellow biker to join me for part of a motorcycle road trip from the Jura to the Basque Country, then northern Spain, down to southern Portugal, and back through central Spain. I want to avoid big cities as much as possible and stick to small roads.
I'm retired, so I've got all the time in the world—the length of the trip isn't set and doesn't matter. Ideally, it’d be another retiree like me so we can take it easy—no rush. Planned for the second half of April and May 2026. Hope to see you soon!

Ferries to Spain from southern France
Hi everyone,
I’m planning to drive my camper van to southern Spain in autumn 2026. Ideally, I’d like to find a ferry leaving from France (Marseille or Toulon, doesn’t matter) that drops me off as far south in Spain as possible. I’ve done some research but haven’t had any luck.
Thanks for your tips!

Looking for female companion (59/69 years old) for about 5 weeks in Andalusia + Lagos (Portugal)
Hello everyone,
Foreword: I have the moral elegance to keep disparaging comments to private messages. I expect the same in return! I won’t engage with "camel" or "motorcycle" avatars.
Andalusia in all its glory—that’s what I’m offering to a companion who’d love to share every morning of the days to come with me... From Cartagena to Lagos (Portugal), roughly speaking, if I had to sum up my desires. More precisely, 5 to 7 days in each of these towns: Cartagena – Carchuna – Córdoba – Seville – Huelva – Lagos. Having been there twice and visited part of the region, I already have a good idea of what’s interesting or spectacular.
Knowing about the Moors’ historical presence isn’t essential, but it helps understand certain architectural features.
When? Departure between February 20th and 25th, 2026. Why this time? We’ll escape the gloom, rain, and chill that will have settled over France (I’m speaking for my region). Plus, no matter where you go, there’ll be very few tourists at this time, so queues are much shorter, and accommodation rates are at their "low season" prices! (We also gain about an hour of daylight at this latitude.) I’ve already done some research (tedious but necessary...) on 5 towns (Cartagena – Carchuna – Córdoba – Seville – Huelva) plus Lagos (Portugal) regarding accommodation—open to discussion to agree on which to choose.
Of course, I know what to see and do in each area. Up for debate...
Budget? I’d rather discuss that in person. For my part, I’m financially comfortable.
Temperatures: around 16°C during the day in Cartagena, about 18°C in Seville, and around 18°C in Huelva (maybe 1 or 2°C warmer), with very little rain!
Vehicle? A reliable, well-maintained Citroën van. It can carry 2 bikes so we can explore some stunning regional natural parks. Plus, we’ll visit some massive cities—I’m especially thinking of Seville! The driver? Very cautious.
My advantage? I speak the language well. It’s pretty much a must, otherwise, you’re guaranteed to feel down after 2 days (laugh).
Lunch: picnics more for the joy of being outdoors than to save money. Dinner at local restaurants or fondas.
Preference for a companion living within a 2-hour drive of Castres (81), to make meet-ups easier as we "get to know each other" and finalize plans. Exception: if you live within 25 km of La Roche-sur-Yon—I’m considering moving there.

Old Canfranc Station in Black and White
Perched at 1,200 meters above sea level in the Spanish Pyrenees, right on the border with France, the monumental Canfranc Station was inaugurated in 1928. It fell into decline in the 1970s after being abandoned by the SNCF, but it’s been restored by the Spanish hotel group Barceló, which transformed it into a luxurious five-star palace. Nicknamed the “Titanic of the Pyrenees” with its 241-meter length,

Best time to book flight tickets to Seville
Hi everyone,
Does anyone have an idea about how flight ticket prices drop for a given destination? (Excluding Ryanair, of course.)
We need to leave for Seville on December 27th. Generally, airlines launch trips on a specific date with a high price to start filling the plane. As the departure date gets closer, the airline tries to fill the plane and lowers its prices, so the ticket price becomes reasonable again.
Example: Right now, for a trip in about 10 days, the average round-trip ticket price is usually around 200 €. Currently, the round-trip ticket price for December 27th is 450 €.
If any of you have more precise info on this topic (for example, if the price drops 15 days before departure), thanks in advance for your input. Jean Paul

Recommendations for a road trip in southern Spain and Lisbon
Hi everyone!
I’m currently on a road trip in southern Spain, stopping for a few days in Mérida and Badajoz, then heading toward Lisbon, which I’ve been strongly recommended to visit 🙂
Any ideas for sights, restaurants, bars, or must-do activities in my upcoming destinations? I’m all ears!
Thanks in advance! 😎

Booking with married name instead of maiden name on Ryanair
I booked a ticket to Spain with my married name instead of my maiden name.
On my ID, my maiden name (×××××××) is listed. Do I need to change my name? Thanks

Which cruise line stops in Barcelona to send a magnet?
Hello everyone,
I’m looking for a cruise line that stops in BARCEELONA and can go to the BARCELONA Aquarium to buy a magnet. I bought one for my 9-year-old grandson, but unfortunately, his dad dropped it, and the boy is sad because it was his grandfather’s. So if someone could buy another one, it’s around 4 €, and I’ll cover the shipping costs. I’ve attached a photo of the model. Thank you so much!
Best regards,
Patrick
Feedback on 6-day Alicante itinerary
Hi everyone!
I’m planning a little trip in October and wanted to share where I’m at with my preparations.
We’re heading to Alicante from October 18th to 23rd and will be staying on C/ Bailén. (We won’t have a car.) We’ve decided to buy a bus and tram card with 20 trips for the two of us to start. Depending on the weather, here’s what we’ve planned: a visit to Alicante including the covered market, the bullring (?), Santa Cruz…
La Illeta del Banyets,
Lucentum,
the MARQ museum,
ELCHE,
Tabarca Island,
Villajoyosa,
Villena Castle,
Orihuela (if we have time).
Any thoughts? Anything that doesn’t seem worth it? I’m bringing my snorkel mask and a wetsuit just in case.
I remember a bit of Spanish—just *unas pocas palabras*—but otherwise, I get by in English. I’m bringing some euros in small bills. I don’t eat gluten, lactose, legumes, or rice—not allergic, but I feel sick if I eat them. If there are any dishes you’d recommend trying (I’ve heard about *patatas bravas*, and there must be seafood and octopus), or anything for my husband, who can eat everything.
We’re hoping to find a holiday vibe with some atmosphere, even though we’ll be there at the end of October.

Sleeping in Terminal 1 at Barcelona Airport
Hi,
We’ll be arriving late at night and have a very early flight the next morning, so getting a hotel wouldn’t be worth it.
We’d like to know if there’s a nice spot in Terminal 1 where we can catch some sleep or at least get comfortable for a few hours.
Thanks to anyone who’s familiar with the terminal or has been in the same situation as us
Riding the Ruta de la Plata by motorcycle
Hello,
Next October we’re planning to ride the Ruta de la Plata by motorcycle—a historic Spanish route that runs from Gijón to Seville, also known as the N630.
Has anyone here already ridden it?
Unfortunately, I’m worried that parts of the N630 may have disappeared or merged with the A66 motorway, forcing us to ride long stretches of highway, which we’d rather avoid.
Thanks in advance for any tips or details about this route!
Fear of flying due to emetophobia
Hi everyone. Sorry if my post might make some of you laugh, but here’s the thing—I’m emetophobic, which means I’m terrified of vomiting or seeing someone vomit. So, I’m *extremely* afraid of flying and the possibility of someone getting sick on the plane. I’m taking a flight in a few days from Lyon to Palma de Mallorca. I know it’s a short flight, but I’m still terrified that someone might get sick. I was wondering if there are any professionals or frequent travelers who could honestly share their thoughts or experiences with this. Thanks in advance for your kindness and support.
Smartwatch for the Camino de Santiago
Hi everyone, let me introduce myself—I’m Claudy Georges, and I’m from Belgium. I’d like to take on the Camino de Santiago.
I’d love your thoughts on the type of gear to bring, especially smartwatches.
I’m torn between the Amazfit T-Rex and the Garmin Fenix 7.
I’m a total beginner and get lost easily, so having good gear is key.
Could you shed some light on this for me?
Thanks in advance.
Travel companions for Spain starting mid-September
Hi there,
I’m posting another announcement for a slightly more specific destination—Spain. Departing from Montpellier by Flexibus to Barcelona, then following the coast south, visiting the Ebro Delta, and prioritizing local transport or BlaBlaCar.
Who’d be up for this 3-week (or longer) trip starting mid-September? If you’re not afraid of walking and laid-back living is your thing, let’s go!
Hope to hear from you soon
Which sections of the Camino del Cid are worth doing?
Hi there,
The full route from Burgos to (just before) Murcia is 1,300 km.
If you’ve done the whole thing, do you think the entire route is worth the trip, or can some sections be skipped?
Thanks.
