I posted a few questions recently about Costa Rica and Panama, since we're still hesitating between the two for a trip in July.

Our plan would be to drive up through Panama to Bocas del Toro, then fly back (a classic loop).

We have tons of questions, since travel blogs and sites are often so glowing, which is why we'd love to hear real firsthand experiences.

1-We're really drawn to small colonial-style villages. Are there any similar to Casco Viejo in Panama City elsewhere in the country? 2-Which island is worth the detour, and are there any paradise-like beaches (clear water, snorkeling right from the beach) outside of Bocas del Toro and San Blas? 3-Which coast is better between Panama City and Bocas del Toro?

We're traveling with a child, so we'll avoid anything like treks or waterfalls that are hard to access.

We’ll be in Venice from March 20th to 24th, and I’m looking (for two couples) for a hotel close to St. Mark’s Square—my husband can’t walk long distances. For four nights with breakfast, our budget is around 1,400 € per couple. To avoid too much walking for him, I’d also prefer a hotel where we could potentially eat dinner in the evenings. I want to start in Las Vegas, revisit Monument Valley, and head toward Dallas, stopping in Albuquerque and other cool spots along the way. 4 days in the Bocas del Toro archipelago

3 days in Panama City and surroundings

2 days in Valle de Antón? Not sure if it’s really worth it

We’re also debating whether to take a direct flight to Bocas first, then rent a car to gradually make our way back to Panama City and do San Blas at the end—or do the opposite: start with San Blas, rent a car, and finish with the domestic flight from Bocas back to Panama City.

Hello, After much hesitation about the direction, we finally bought our flight tickets (we splurged on Premium): it’ll be a 15-day road trip starting from Los Angeles in June 2025. We want to do our "farewell tour" by saying goodbye one last time to the landscapes of the "Grand Circle" that amazed and fascinated us during 4 trips between 2008 and 2012. Practical question for choosing a vehicle (possibly a Toyota RAV4 from Alamo): should we opt for the GPS supplement (over 200 € for 15 days; they only "gift" the second driver)? In our previous trips, we didn’t have one, and we don’t really remember struggling in L.A., San Francisco, Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, or Denver. It would mainly be useful for driving through Los Angeles at the start and end of the trip, but not really elsewhere... On the other hand, I’m thinking that there must be few vehicles without GPS in service in the U.S. these days, and maybe an upgrade at pickup isn’t out of the question (?). If that doesn’t happen and we have last-minute regrets, can we change our minds and take the option without being too financially penalized compared to booking in advance? That’s the (very 😉) little dilemma of the moment. Thanks for your insights and advice!

On foot, it seems tricky, and the shuttles don’t really appeal to us. Is it better to skip Shark Valley and focus on Loop Road? Is the day too ambitious with the drive back to Fort Myers Beach? I wanted to avoid Naples because I’d prefer to stay two nights in each place to avoid changing hotels every day. But if it’s too tight, we’ll do one night in Naples and one in Fort Myers Beach. - Night in Fort Myers Beach

Day 7 - Saturday, April 12: Sanibel Island - Day on the island with bike rentals to reach J.N. "Ding" Darling National Wildlife Refuge, then beach time (Bowman’s Beach?) - Night in Fort Myers Beach

Après avoir du renoncer à notre projet 2020 dans l’ouest américain suite à l’annulation des vols de fin juin et avec l’actualité actuelle non propice aux voyages ( bon, nous avons quand même pu partir 10 jours dans les Cyclades en plan B) j’envisage, si la situation s’améliore, un nouveau projet pour l’été 2021 avec un départ mi juillet ( au lieu de notre préféré fin juin..).. on va essayer d'y croire!!

J'ai acheté il y a 4 jours un gravel croix de fer Genesis 20, que je me suis fait vélo hier !!! J'avoue avoir eu un coup de coeur pour ce vélo.... mais depuis ce vol je me suis mise à nouveau en quête de recherche car j'ai à nouveau comparé les prix et les équipements et à nouveau le doute plane. Le problème du croix de fer c'est la dimension du cadre il faut avoir un buste assez long pour avoir un minimum de confort ou alors raccourcir la potence mais le guidon devient nerveux et la tenue de route se dégrade selon avis d'expert ! Alors toutes les questions sont là pour un budget entre 1000 et 1500e grand max car l'assurance heureusement va me rembourser mais je vais perdre de billes ! : - cadre acier ou alu - choisir un cadre et faire monter son vélo // cadre ll city par exemple // - choix de la transition - choix des freins - pneu en 700 de quelle marque ? car il paraît qu'on ne fait pas assez attention aux pneus quand on achète son vélo alors que ce sont eux qui après le cadre offre une belle adhérence et confort route

déjà une bonne base si je pouvais avoir vos avis d'expert ....! voire quelques modèles en exemple ....

Je pense avoir finaliser mon parcours 2021 et j'aimerai votre avis dessus.

Actuellement, départ le 06/10/2021 avec un retour au 30/10/2021 (Atterrissage le 31). On a essayé de caler un départ le plus tôt possible en Octobre et on ne peut faire mieux que ces dates. J'ai déjà 4 nuits réservées à Yellowstone sur les dates prévues. Pour le reste, rien n'est figé. Voyageant avec des enfants en bas âge, certaines étapes ont étés réduites en terme de kilomètres.

J1 (06/10) : Arrivée à Minneapolis à 13H - Nuit à Mankato. L'idée est d'avoir les vols sans escales et nous avons donc fait le choix de ne pas passer par Denver. Mankato n'est pas très loin de Minneapolis et cela permet de gagner 1H de route sur le lendemain.

J2: Mankato > Sioux Falls > Oacoma - Nuit à Oacoma Journée de route tranquille, rien de passionant.

J3: Oacoma > Badland NP - Nuit au Cedar pass Lodge

La partie côté Oregon vous semble t elle pertinente? J'ai l'impression de survoler et j'hésitais à modifier la fin en prenant le ferry dès le J22 et en supprimant une nuit à Seattle pour la mettre en Oregon.

Bonsoir 🙂 Je suis arrivée à J 7 de ma préparation pour notre Road trip de septembre .J’ai quelques questions pour lesquelles je n’ai pas pu obtenir d’infos ( aïe aïe aïe mon anglais !!) Je vous les soumets pour avoir votre avis Guffey : j’ai cru comprendre que la Rocky Mountain Wildlife foundation était fermée (loups )et est ce que les gorges de Paradise Cove valent l’arrêt ? Twin Lakes : aller vers le Nord pour les voir nous fera faire un détour d’environ de 80 km. Est ce que ça vaut le détour sachant qu’on ne pourra pas aller jusqu’à Indépendance pass car après nous dormons à Salida (au Sud) . Est qu’il y a une petite marche à faire sur place ou c’est uniquement pour des photos ? Saint Elmo : qui a fait les Agnes Vaille Falls ? Great Sand Dune Overlook : facile ou non et combien de temps Creede : Bachelor Loop : combien de temps pour faire la boucle ? Piste roulante ou 4x4 recommandé ( nous aurons un SUV) ? Après notre étape de Lake City nous dormons à Ouray. Lors de ma préparation j’avais prévu de passer par les US 20 et 24. En se penchant sur l’ititinéraire il me semble bien que ce sont des routes très techniques que seuls les 4x4 peuvent emprunter 😕 et il va falloir rejoindre Ouray par le nord et le Curecanti ( Sapinero, Montrose ) avant de redescendre Pouvez vous me le confirmer ? Bonjour, Suite à une erreur de ma part🙄 nous allons arriver à 14h à Miami pour une croisière qui part le lendemain à 19h. Je voudrai visiter la ville mais surtout aller voir le parc des Everglades et ses crocodiles. Nous aurons 1 semaine plus tard une escale de 7h à 16h à Miami. Est-ce que dans le port on trouve des sociétés pour des excursions à la journée? J’hésite à louer une voiture pour y aller (nous serons 3). Autre question, pour se ballader le 1er soir, et découvrir un peu, il vaut mieux loger dans quel coin? J’ai l’habitude d’organiser mes excursions moi-même mais je ne maîtrise pas trop le facteur temps d’une grande ville comme ça. Merci

2021 n est pas si lointaine quand on pense réservation....

Cécile ayant adoré le 1er voyage dans l ouest , elle veut redoubler en faisant SF et yellowstone entre autres...

pour ma part, ayant déjà trippé dans la région, je m ajoute quelques coins non visités comme antelope island à SLC, , cathedral gorge, cedar breaks, extraterrestreal road notamment

nous avons le choix entre 2 itinéraires:sans passage à cedar city:

V2 avec passage par cedar city



cette version met 1 jour de plus ce qui devrait être faisable ..

N'étant pas fans de montagne, on voit le mont blanc de lyon, ni de longues marches, j ai supprimé: - grand téton où suis déjà passé voir mes cousins



- et kanarra creek , 3 à 4h de marche en plus avec le vertige ... - ceci dit , suis preneur de plein d idées originales et sympa

pour moi cela dépendra surtout d'un phénomène bien particulier : la possibilité de réserver sur yellowstone sachant, si j ai bien compris, que ceux qui ont du annuler cette année seront prioritaires pour 2021

ce sera certainement mon dernier voyage dans l ouest....

Je prévois de partir 3 mois aux Philippines en Septembre pour du tourisme et du surf puis rejoindre l'Indonésie pour 3 mois également.

Je me pose beaucoup de questions pour les visas et formalités administratives.

Quel visa choisir pour les Philippines ? Pour l'Indonésie ? Je me doute bien qu'il va falloir faire des renouvellements sur place...ou dois-je m'adresser ? aux ambassades ? Ailleurs ?

j'ai cru comprendre qu'il fallait imprimer ses billets d'avion pour les Philippines et présenter aux autorités des billets d'avion de Transite ou de sortie du Territoire ?

Je pense que je vais opter pour des billets multi destination... Est-ce une bonne idée ? J'ai prévu de faire Lyon/Manille début Septembre, puis Manille/Jakarta début Décembre et pour mon retour début Février 2021 Denpasar/Lyon ou Jakarta/Lyon.
