For once, I'm heading north... I’ve decided to spend a short time in Iceland, alone, during the first week of July. I’ll only have 5 full days there. Sure, it’s not much, so I’ll focus on what attracts me the most: the Highlands. Obviously, renting a 4x4—or even a regular car—on my own isn’t an option. That’s why I’m breaking my (probably unfounded) principles and have contacted local agencies for "day tours" in small-group format. Well, small-group up to 15 people, anyway... Oh well, I’m going for it! I’m really hesitant about visiting the Golden Circle on the last day, since I’ve read it’s become super crowded. I’d love your thoughts on this. Plus, if I visit that area, I’d want to include Bruarfoss, and as far as I know, only the Troll agency offers that detour. There’s also the Snaefellsnes Peninsula excursion that appeals to me, but it seems time-consuming. Time-consuming like the Jokulsarlon tour I’ve already booked. (But that’s on the first day, so I’ll still be full of energy!) By the last day, I’ll probably be running on empty... Otherwise, I’ll be doing 3 4x4 excursions that I’m really excited about: 1 in Thorsmork Valley, 1 in Landmannalaugar, and 1 in Kerlingarfjöll.

So, Golden Circle or no Golden Circle—that’s the question... Or maybe a relaxed day visiting Reykjavik and a lagoon. Blue Lagoon? Sky Lagoon? Meh...

Hello! We’re heading to the Marquesas in July-August and I’d love to know if it’s possible, for a fee, to do a leg of the journey on the Aranui—like from Hiva Oa to Fatu Hiva, or Nuku Hiva to Ua Pou, or even Ua Pou to Ua Huka? Sure, there are shuttles twice a week with Codim connecting these islands, but the schedules won’t be known until two months in advance, and I need to book flights and hotels much earlier than that. So, what’s the best way to handle this?

While planning a trip to the LOFOTEN for summer 2023 using the excellent guide *Hiking in the Lofoten*, we discovered this trek.

Sure, it’s rated as difficult, but it lets you cross the LOFOTEN on foot from north to south in 11 stages, covering 160 km and 9,193 m of elevation gain (or the reverse, of course).

So, it’s a multi-day hike, with wild camping, and no need to rent a car. Perfect...

What’s making us hesitate a bit are the island transfers (okay, I’ll admit, the difficulty is also a factor for me). These transfers require taking public transport and/or hitchhiking. But the stages are designed with this in mind, and the transfers are well explained. Plus, water isn’t an issue, and you can resupply several times, which helps keep the pack weight down.

For Jean Marie, my partner, this will be his first multi-day trek, but he’s an experienced and hardy hiker. As for me, even though I’m not as tough, I’ve already done some multi-day hikes. So, we should complement each other well.

We’ve read it all about Bali: mass tourism, non-stop parties, ferry disasters, the kingdom of “Instagrammers,” pollution, “Bali belly”... But luckily, this island isn’t just about Kuta’s beaches and the Lempuyang Temple.

Sure, it’s not as exotic or off-the-beaten-path as other Indonesian islands (the Moluccas, Timor, Flores...), but we spent 3 weeks there and loved it!

Our (planned) itinerary in 7 stops: - Ubud (4 nights) - Sidemen (2 nights) - Gili Meno (3 nights) - Amed (2 nights) - Pemuteran (4 nights) - Munduk (2 nights) - Jatiluwih (2 nights)



We booked our accommodations in advance, and for the rest (drivers, activities...), we took it day by day with help from the homestays (making sure to contact them a few days ahead via WhatsApp).

In the end, it’s an “easy” destination, very affordable, and one that’s managed to keep a certain authenticity.

Avoid the car rental company "locationauto" No one was there when we arrived at the airport—we waited 1 hour for someone to pick us up and take us outside the airport. The vehicle... 97,000 km!!!! Dirty inside and out, stained seats. Return was the same—1.5-hour wait to drop off the car. Sure, it’s cheap, but you get what you pay for!!!

Hi everyone, I’ve traveled to New York quite a bit, but not in about 10 years. All my colleagues who’ve been recently tell me that the cost of living has become outrageous. What’s the situation really like? For hotels, I checked the usual sites, and it does seem a bit expensive but not unaffordable—if you avoid the various "peak" periods (and there are a lot of them...). Anyway, the prices seem roughly on par with Paris, at least for accommodation in Manhattan. But what I’ve heard is that restaurants are almost unaffordable for "regular" budgets. By unaffordable, I mean around $50 per person (as soon as you want a drink with your meal). Thanks to any forum members who’ve been recently for shedding some light on this. Long live VoyageForum.

Hello, We’ve just returned (2 senior couples) from 18 days in Cape Verde (21/01 to 7/02) that we really enjoyed. The temperature was great—20° to 27°—admittedly a bit windy at times, but the friendliness of the Cape Verdeans made up for it. Paris Orly, direct flight with Transavia (cheap if you book in advance). We landed in São Vicente, with a 12 € city transfer. We had a fantastic 2-bedroom apartment in downtown Mindelo—Av. Fernando Ferreira Fortes, "Casa So Morabeza"—for 58 € per night. The owner lives in France and communicates instantly via WhatsApp. We spent 2 days exploring the (beautiful) city of Mindelo and its port activity, plus a private taxi tour of the island (6000 CVE for the day). Then we took the Armas ferry (recommended company—1500 CVE) to Santo Antão. From there, a collectivo (450 CVE per person) took us to Ribeira Grande, a central base for hikes. We stayed in a brand-new, modern, and well-equipped 2-bedroom apartment—*Apartamentos Modernos*—for 6770 CVE per night, staying 6 nights. I highly recommend it for its location in town and proximity to *aluguers* and *collectivos* for hiking. The hikes were stunning: - The coastal trail from Fontainhas to Cruzinha (taxi for 1500 CVE) - The route from Corda to Coculi (taxi for 2000 CVE + 100 CVE per person for the return) - The trail from Cova to Cidade de Pombas (taxi for 2000 CVE + 100 CVE per person for the return) - The hike from Miradouro to Ribeira Grande (taxi for 2000 CVE) - The coastal road from Ribeira Grande to Ponta do Sol (visit and lunch at *Mini Familiar* in the city center—excellent and affordable) for the round trip. Ribeira Grande has plenty of restaurants, but avoid *5 de Julho*—it’s loud and slow. We loved: *Bellcanto*, *Cantinho da Amizade*, and *Boca-Fina Churrasqueria*. Meals with drinks cost around 800–1000 CVE. Back to São Vicente by ferry (1500 CVE), then an airport transfer (12 €) and a flight (99 €) to Santiago’s Praia. The airport-to-city transfer was 15 €. We stayed at *Kelly’s* in Plato, Praia, which was disappointing—not ideal for two couples—but well-located. One day was spent visiting the massive *Suspicia* market, then a collectivo to Cidade Velha (2 x 200 CVE round trip per person). We hiked up to the fort, explored *Rua Banana*, and had lunch at *Praça do Mar* by the beach. We rented a car for 6 days (29000 CVE) from *Slimpycar* in Praia. On Saturday, we visited the huge *Assomada* market—don’t miss it!—then hiked to *Boa Entrada* and *Poilon*, the largest and most impressive tree we’ve ever seen. We stayed for 2 nights (138 €) in a beautiful valley in *Picos*—a spacious, lovely house with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and a large living area, surrounded by nature and animals. Lina, the charming neighbor, prepared dinner (8.50 €) and breakfast (4.50 €) for us. Next, we headed to *Tarrafal*, stopping to visit the concentration camp (500 CVE)—a must-see—before arriving. We spent 3 nights (184 €) in a fantastic house called *"Maison Familiale"*—huge, with 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, 2 kitchens, 5 toilets, and a large terrace with sea views. It was absolutely stunning and very close to the beach and numerous restaurants. We did a beautiful 3.8 km hike to the *Farol da Ponta Preta* lighthouse. Tarrafal’s beach is lively and pleasant, with bars, restaurants, and even acrobats! We also explored *Ribeira da Prata* to see the *Piscina Natural de Cuba* (not easy to find). We loved discovering isolated villages like *Ponta Furna*, *Ponta Labrão*, and *Fazenda*. For food, I recommend *Mira Mar* at *Mama’s*. On the way back to Praia, we took the east coast route via *Calheta de São Miguel*, *Pedra Badejo*, and *Praia Baixo*—nothing extraordinary, just a rugged, wild coastline with beaches that seemed a bit tricky to access. Our last evening in Praia was nice. The seaside esplanade was lively, and many Cape Verdeans were swimming at *Prainha* beach, which seemed very accessible and safe. If anyone has already taken this route, I’d love to hear any tips or advice. For now, I don’t have info on ferries for September and October—have you taken them? Do they allow bikes? Top

✈️ One-month Vietnam itinerary from North to Central 🇻🇳

On a à faire à des sociétés sans scrupules et aussi à notre président français qui signe l'ordonnance 315 qui autorise à proposer un avoir, valable 18 mois et un remboursement qui ne peut avoir lieu qu'après ce délai.

Je suis en location en octobre entre Loctudy et Guilvinec, le Palud du Cosquer pour être précis et je voulais savoir si l'on peut acheter directement les pêches aux pêcheurs quelque part ? Certes, il y a les marchés, je me renseignerai sur place pour ça, mais des fois que vous connaissiez un endroit proche de Guilvinec ou Loctudy autre qu'une poissonnerie qui ne traite qu'en négoce. Même une petite adresse d'un pêcheur qui a son vivier nous irait amplement. Une semaine de cure de homard, langoustines et autre petits crabes. 😎

Bonjour, il m'est proposé un appartement Samsara sur le Diadema qui a l'air vraiment superbe. Mais j'ai la nette impression en regardant les films qu'il n'y a pas de balcon EXTERIEUR. Je vois certes un jacuzzi donnant sur la mer, mais il a l'air fermé. Quelqu'un peut-il m'indiquer s'il existe bien AUSSI un balcon extérieur dans ces appartements ? Si tel est le cas, il faudrait prendre la précaution de bien le montrer !

Hello, now that I'm retired, I'd like to go to Greece from January until the end of April. So I'd love to know which island and part of the island has the mildest climate (warmth and wind) for that period. I've done some research, and the islands that come up most often are Crete and Rhodes.

Bonjour, nous partons à quatre qui avons une bonne expérience du voyage à vélo par des pistes un peu partout sur la planète. Nous voudrions faire une sortie de 10 jours entre les différents causses, l'Aigoual, le mont Lozère et la Margeride. Par exemple, on aimerait passer le plus près possible de la crête du mont Lozère de l'est à l'ouest, faire un maximum de montées et descentes à partir des différentes rivières, Tarn, Jonte, Dourbie et d'autres sur les différents causses, Méjean, Noir, Larzac, Sauverette, Bégon.... On aimerait si c'est possible trouver des pistes même si nous roulerons aussi sur goudron, cependant nous serons avec vélo de voyage avec sacoches et pas en VTT, donc pas de pistes trop techniques. D'autre part les conditions de bivouac sont restrictives dans le parc des Cévennes qui englobe tous ces coins, votre expérience nous intéresse. Nous prenons toutes vos expériences et conseils pour faire évoluer notre parcours. Merci par avance Luc

Après 5 voyages aux USA, nous avons décidé de changer de lieu, un peu aidé aussi par une visite à faire a une amie à Victoria. Certes on aurait bien aimé qu’elle soit sur la côte est mais voilà. Nous prévoyons de faire une halte de quelques jours à Victoria dans le courant du mois de juin puis de rejoindre Montréal.

Une rapide présentation s’impose. Nous sommes un couple de retraité qui aura 71 ans à cette époque. On voyage en voiture avec les nuits en motels/hôtels, aucune expérience avec les B&B qui semblent très courant dans ce pays. Comme je suis le seul conducteur, j’ai volontairement limité les trajets à environ 300km/jour à la suite d’une mauvaise expérience en 2017. On aime bien randonner mais maintenant, on se contente de petites distances assez faciles, au besoin on en fera plusieurs par jour.

Dans le circuit ci-dessous, je n’ai, bien sûr, pas indiqué tous les petits arrêts inévitables ici ou là. Comme vous le voyez, les dates ne sont pas fixes et le nombre de jours peut aussi évoluer un peu. Donc rien n’est réservé !

Bonjour, je viens de recevoir un mail de Couchsurfing, nous sommes le 17 mai fin d'apres midi, m'informant que ... Surprise ! (pour moi en tout cas) : Couchsurfing est ... payant depuis le 14 mai ! (depuis 4 jours donc).

Je ne peux donc plus accéder à mon profil sans leur verser ce qu'ils appellent "une aide", minime certes s'il s'agit d'un seul mois (moins de 4 euros) .... attention l'argument massue arrive : """"pour faire face aux conséquences de covid19"""" (ah bon ?)...

C'est pour moi qui ne conservais mon profil en mode "absent" depuis 2017 que pour témoigner d'une mésaventure traumatisante que j'avais eue en Iran et que j'avais signalée à CS, avec pour réponse de leur part quelque chose comme "on s'en fout"... une surprise désagréable... Ces dernier temps je me disais que j'allais le supprimer car je suis maintenant inscrite sur d'autres sites où ça se passe beaucoup mieux.

Mais voilà qu'ils me demandent "mon aide financière" !!! Pire, exigent mon aide financière" pour pouvoir supprimer mon profil !

Je précise que j'ai pour la plupart du temps hébergé des voyageurs de toutes nationalités, et que j'ai très rarement cherché un hébergement.

Il n'y a que moi qui suis en colère de devoir payer pour pouvoir supprimer mon profil ce qui est mon droit le plus élémentaire ? Je suis sûre que ce qu'ils font est illégal.

Dès que je trouve un membre de CS qui veut bien leur verser une poignée d'euros, je lui demanderai de supprimer mon profil. Faites de même.

Personnellement je suis inscrite sur Warmshowers (cyclotouristes) et La Voyageuse : un site entre femmes, sécurisé, vraiment sécurisé, et j'ai déjà reçu plusieurs voyageuses, dont une maman avec son bébé. C'est gratuit pour les hébergeuses (merci), et c'est payant pour les hébergées car la vérification des profils est très sérieuse. Mais pour toutes les voyageuses qui passent chez moi, et je suis sûre qu'il en est de même chez les autres, c'est un accueil *** La certitude d'être en sécurité, confortable, renseignée, accompagnée, et avec le sourire et aucune idée malsaine derrière la tête. Dans un sens comme dans l'autre.

L'aéroport pour un départ de Paris est il situé à CDG ou à Orly ?

Le gouvernement Américain vient d'adopter un plan de soutien à l'économie de 3000 milliards de dollars. Ce plan ne profitera pas aux compagnies de croisière, qui, bien que considérées comme Américaines (Carnival, RCL, Norwegian), ont basé leurs sièges dans des paradis fiscaux. On estime à 420 000 le nombre d'emplois sur le territoire américain créés par l'industrie des croisières et gravement menacés actuellement. Saisi de la question, D.Trump a simplement répondu qu'il voulait que ces compagnies aient leur siège aux USA et paient leurs impôts aux USA. Cela ne va pas arranger RCL, Norwegian et Carnival, dont les cours de bourse ont perdu plus de 70% depuis le début de la crise.

Nous sommes hésitants pour notre voyage de 16 jours en Grèce début septembre dont notre départ est Montréal/Athènes Choix 1 Athènes 2 nuits Paros 4 nuits Santorin 4 nuits Crète 4 nuits Choix 2 Athènes 2 nuits Paros 4 nuits Santorin 3 nuits Crête 5 nuits Nous pensons que 3 nuits peut être suffisant à Santorin et que 5 nuits préférables ....

bonjour j'ai entendu dire que l'équivalent chinois d'uber qui s'appelle didi est dans une mauvaise passe l'une de ses utilisatrice ayant été violée et assasinée ce qui n'est certes pas engageant. Il paraitriat qu'une concurrence s'organise. Comme je suis susceptible d'avoir recours aux services d'une chaufeeur à certains moment en chine j'aimerais en savoir plus, savoir comment contacter ce didi ou un eventuel concurrent. Merci
