Bonjour Nous partons au Japon le 4 avril et nous arrivons à l'aéroport Kansai Osaka Nous allons acheter le Kansai Thru Pass en arrivant à l'aéroport car nous restons une semaine dans la région de Kyoto en finissant par Koyasan Ensuite nous activerons le rail pass national 14 jours Lorsque je regarde sur Hyperdia, j'avoue que j'ai du mal à bien comprendre le système des trains privés avec tous les changements pour faire l'aéroport - Kyoto Si quelqu'un pouvait m'aider....... Je vais partir 4 semaines au Japon (du 23 mai au 20 juin). 1 semaine pour visiter Kyoto et Osaka et 3 semaines de stages à Kobe. La première semaine je dormirai dans des ryokan déjà réservés (environs 300 € pour la semaine), et durant mes 3 semaines de stage je serai hébergé chez une famille (dont le père travail dans l'entreprise où a lieu mon stage). J'aimerai leur donner de l'argent pour l'hébergement mais je ne sais pas comment aborder le sujet avec eux car ont m'a dit que c'était assez tabou de parler argent avec un Japonais. De plus, combien pensez vous que je devrais leur donner ??? Sachant que mon budget sera de 3000€ pour les 4 semaines (hors avion). Merci d'avance!

Bonjour, Tout d'abord merci à tous pour vos précieux conseils, je m'envole lundi pour Osaka : je me suis bien préparé mais pas trop pour ne pas tuer la spontanéïté du voyage ! 😛 En gros je passerai une semaine à Kyoto et de là je visiterai : Nara, Himeji, Osaka (Aquarium sûrement, Studio Universal sans doute) et peut-être Hikone. Après, je passerai 3 nuits à Hakone Yumoto, l'une des 2 journées complètes je ferai "La Boucle d'Hakone" et la seconde je me prélasserai dans un Onsen 😇 Ensuite, une bonne semaine à Tokyo (quartier Ikebukuro), pas trop préparé pour y aller à l'instinct, visiter chaque quartier, descendre la rivière d'Asakusa à Odaïba, aller à Nikko bien sûr... La dernière nuit je la passerai à côté de l'aéroport de Narita, car je décolel au matin.

Alors j'ai encore quelques questions : Pour les trains, les tickets peuvent s'acheter à des bornes en anglais où il faut passer d'office à un comptoir ? Et ensuite, lorsqu'on a le ticket, on doit le pointer quelque part ou le montrer à quelqu'un avant d'embarquer, ou c'est un contrôleur qui passe dans le train par la suite ? Pour la ville de Narita, j'ai vu qu'il y avait un joli temple avec un beau parc, je compte aller les voir, mais y a t il un grand centre commercial aussi, pour quelques derniers achats impulsifs afin de liquider mes yens ? A quel genre de quartier dois-je m'attendre à Ikebukuro, à la base j'avais opté pour Shinjuku, mais l'hotel était au nord de Kabuki-Cho et donc j'aurais dû traverser ce quartier tous les jours pour rejoindre ou revenir du metro... alors j'ai changé pour Ikebukuro. Mais est-il vivant, y a t il moyen de sortir le soir ou c'est mort après 22h ? Je rajouterai peut-être d'autres questions d'ici lundi, merci d'avance ! 🙂

Bonjour à tous, eh oui j'ai vécu mon rêve d'aller 3 semaines au Japon. J'ai retrouvé quelques amis sur OSaka, KYoto, Tokyo ...et nous avons pris le temps de nous imprégner de ces mégalopoles pendant 20 jours cet été. C'était génial ...mais maintenant le Japon nous manque, peut-être pas pour y vivre, ...mais quelque chose de magique s'est produit sans que nous ne nous en rendions compte et une part de nous est restée là-bas.

Du coup on meurt d'envie d'y retourner, mais comment continuer pour garder la magie, après avoir découvert des grandes villes qui offrent tellement de services et de divertissement? On a adoré les sites de Kyoto, Koyasan, Nara, ....mais le côté Electrique et shopping on aodre aussi ...alors on se voit pas retourner au Japon et se perdre dans les montagnes ou qqch. comme ça.

Par quoi avez vous continué après un premier voyage et quels conseil auriez vous pour continuer à explorer le Japon en gardant cette ambivalence moderne/traditionnel? Kyushu? Shikoku? ....j'aimerais bien passer vers Miyajima, Hiroshima ...et partir de ce côté là.

Bonjour, nous partons au Japon au mois de juillet notre circuit est assez classique, Tokyo, Hiroshima, Kobe, Kyoto, Osaka et les différentes excursions Nara, Himeji, Mont Fuji. J'ai consulté plusieurs sites avec les horraires et les tarifs des trains et je voudrais connaitre votre avis sur la nécessité de prendre un JR Pass de 14 JOURS. A votre avis, intéressant ou pas ? Notre programme se compose comme suit : Tokyo : 2 jours (nuits a Tokyo - on est loge par un copain) Nikko : 1 jour (nuit a Tokyo - on est loge par un copain) Hakone : 1 jour (nuit a Tokyo - on est loge par un copain) Takayama : 1/2 journee (le temps de voyager depuis Tokyo) - nuit a Takayama Shirakawago : 1 journee - nuit a Shirakawago Kanazawa : 1 journee et train pour Kyoto - nuit a Kyoto Kyoto : 2 jours - nuits a Kyoto Nara : 1 jour - nuit a Kyoto

Est ce que cela vous parait bien ? On hesitait a remplacer Hakone par Kamakura ? On se demandait si ca vaut vraiment le coup d'aller a Shirakawago et Kanazawa ? On se demandait si on n'allait pas enlever Nikko ou Hakone (ou Kamakura) pour remplacer par une visite du chateau de Himeji ?

De plus une question sur les transports : le JR pass ne marche pas a priori pour les trains "Nozomi" entre Tokyo et Nagoya, ce qui veut dire que il faut soit acheter un billet a part soit prendre des trains beaucoup plus lents, est-ce exact ?

J'ai lu que des ferries relient Pusan ou Ulsan en Corée à Shimonoseki, Fukukoa, Osaka et Kobe au Japon. Ca me donne envie de faire une petite parenthèse au Japon durant mon séjour en Corée.

Quelles sont les durées de ces trajets ? Est-ce que ça vous paraît une bonne idée ? Je ne sais pas du tout ce qu'il y a à voir dans ces villes mais le meilleur moyen de le savoir c'est encore d'y aller ... ceci dit ça m'intéresserait de lire des commentaires de gens qui les auraient visitées 😉 !

Will there be anyone cycling in South Korea in September? Will there be anyone cycling in southern Japan in October?

I’m planning to arrive in Seoul at the very beginning of September, cross the country, then take a boat to Japan at the end of September. My route isn’t set yet, but I won’t go any farther north than Osaka. I’ll be heading back at the end of October.

I’ll be camping or bivouacking, with some hikes here and there. I’ll be doing between 0 and 100 km a day—it all depends on the climbs, the people I meet, the landscapes, and the weather.

It’d be great to share part of the journey with other cyclists. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Now I’m at the stage of buying train tickets for the few segments we’ll need to cover: Tokyo - Hakone Hakone - Kyoto Kyoto - Osaka Osaka - Tokyo Here are my questions: a) Is it possible to buy train tickets for these segments from Canada? b) If so, which website should I use to do this? c) And if it is possible, will we be able to print our tickets from Canada? d) If it’s not possible, where in Tokyo should I go to buy these tickets when I arrive?

Hi, I’m planning a 20-day family trip to Japan in June 2026. I’d love to hear your thoughts on arriving in Tokyo and departing from Osaka (or vice versa)—not using the same airport for arrival and departure. I’m convinced it’s much more comfortable and avoids retracing our steps by train across Japan, but I get the feeling flight costs skyrocket.

Hi there, Barely back from my trip (autumn 2025) and I already want to go again! I’ve already done a 3-week stay (Tokyo-Kamakura-Nikko-Japanese Alps-Kyoto-Osaka-Koyasan-Nara).

So this time, a different trip: Day 1: departure Day 2: arrive in Osaka (stroll around the center in the afternoon) Day 3: day trip to Minoh Falls + Katsuo-ji Temple Day 4: Universal Studios. 1h20 train in the evening to Okayama Day 5: visit Okayama (Korakuen Gardens and the castle), then a 25-minute train to Kurashiki (evening stroll) Day 6: 45-minute bus to Fukuyama (day trip to Tomo no Ura). 20-minute train in the evening to Onomichi Day 7: electric bike excursion on the Shimanami Kaido (70 km round trip), return to Onomichi in the evening Day 8: stroll around the heights of Onomichi. In the afternoon, 1h20 train to Takehara Day 9: stroll in Takehara. In the afternoon, train to Hiroshima Day 10: day trip to Miyajima Day 11: explore Hiroshima, then train to Kyoto Day 12: Kyoto (Kinkaku-ji and Ryoan-ji area in the morning). Hi there! After a wonderful trip in 2024, we’ll be heading back to Japan at the end of July 2026 to reunite with our daughter, who will have been there for a few months.

Last time, we did a route: Tokyo – Japanese Alps – Kyoto – Osaka – Hiroshima. This time, we’ll have 10 days to ourselves before our daughter joins us for a full week. We’re thinking of spending 2 days in Tokyo and 1 day at the end of the trip for shopping.

We’re looking for ideas for a route (by train and bus) that’s a little off the beaten path, especially avoiding the most touristy spots like the best-known temples in Kyoto. Our favorite spots in 2024: Kanazawa, Takayama, and Miyajima Island. We love temples, gardens, and would love to explore the nature, which looks incredible.

I’m planning another trip to Japan next July-August (three and a half to four weeks). We were lucky enough to visit the country back in 2012 and explored Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, Nara, Hiroshima, and Miyajima Island.

This time, we’d like to spend a few days in Tokyo again and then discover other regions and cities. I really want to see Himeji Castle and Naoshima Island, but I haven’t decided on the rest yet.

Since we’ll be in Japan mostly in July (three weeks) and a bit in August (first week), I’m also thinking about the weather, which seems more favorable in the north (northern Honshu and Hokkaido), though the south (Shikoku, Kyushu) is tempting too.

I’d love to hear your advice on an itinerary, keeping in mind that we love variety—some history, temples, nature, and big cities.

Great to be back here—it’s been years!

We’re heading to Japan with the family in mid-July and will mostly explore Kyushu for this second trip. We’ll wrap up with 3 days on Yakushima, but we’re planning to fly back to Osaka from Tanegashima after stopping by the space center. To get from Yakushima to Tanegashima, I’ve found two options: - Depart from Miyanoura port and go to Shimama with the Taiyo II ferry, but it arrives a bit too late for us (it gets in at 10:05 AM, and we need to be at the space center by 10:30 AM…) - Depart from Anbo port, but in that case, the boat goes to Nishinoomote, which is all the way at the north of the island—super inconvenient since the space center is at the very south!

Does anyone here know if there’s another way to make the Miyanoura/Shimama trip besides the Taiyo II ferry (like a private boat, a fisherman’s boat, or something else)? It feels silly to go all the way to the north of the island just to head right back down…

Hi there, I’m planning to visit Japan in May this year, and I’d love to try doing it without taking a flight. I’m currently in Vietnam, and my plan is to travel to Shanghai and then take a ferry to Osaka. I can’t find any clear info online about whether this is still possible. Most links mention a weekly departure, but when I check the company’s website, it says passenger transport is suspended.

If any of you have more recent info, I’d really appreciate it!

I just lightened my wallet by 3000 € for 3 tickets: Paris > Tokyo > Osaka > Paris (well, not just mine—I’m exaggerating, there are two of us). For my daughter’s 10th birthday, we’re heading to Japan—it’s her "decade gift," though I thought she’d pick London🏴‍☠️. But I’ve been dreaming of going back to Japan since my 2013 trip, so I’ll admit this trip is (a lot) for me too. We’re traveling during school holidays, so the ticket prices are unfortunately sky-high. Maybe I could’ve gotten a better deal if I’d waited, but who knows... oh well, it’s done now. We leave at the end of October, so we still have a few months to prepare. That said, I’d rather start early to make sure we don’t miss anything (like the Ghibli Museum—I couldn’t go last time, and anyway, I’ll have to wait until September to book). Last time, there were three adults, so it was pretty straightforward. Eleven years later, well, now it’s two adults with a 10-year-old😛.

So I’m wondering how many days to spend in Tokyo. My daughter idealizes the city (that’s why she wants to go to Japan), and she’s really drawn to Japanese culture and food. Actually, what first got her interested in Japan were all the *kawaii* character products... Tokyo is such a fascinating city, but it can also be exhausting—especially for a kid, and I’m not sure what to expect. Beyond Tokyo, honestly, I’m not entirely sure. I was thinking of Hakone and maybe stopping by Fujikyu Highlands. Then heading down to Osaka for a few days in Kyoto before flying home (our return flight is from Osaka). We only have 11 days there (not counting the arrival day, and since our flight leaves at 11:30 PM on departure day, we’ll have the whole day), so it’s not a ton of time. I already spent a week in Kyoto on my last trip (huge crush on it), and I’d love to have two months there, but... well, you know how it is.

For example: 5 days in Tokyo 2 days in Hakone 4 days in Osaka/Kyoto

What do you think? If you’ve done this trip with kids, do you have any tips for family-friendly accommodations in Tokyo and Hakone? My daughter would love to try an onsen. We have a decent budget, but it’s not unlimited. We’d like to book as we go to spread out the costs a bit.

My wife and I are heading to Japan from March 27 to April 22, 2025. On the evening of the 21st, we’ll be staying in Tokyo to catch our international flight. For this first trip, we’ve prioritized a fairly classic itinerary. Here’s the plan:

- Osaka (arriving at Kansai Airport) - Hiroshima - Itsukushima (also known as Miyajima) - Kyoto - Nara - Kanazawa - Shirakawa-go - Takayama - Tokyo

We’ll likely finish our sightseeing in Tokyo around March 17.

We’re thinking of heading somewhere "quiet" or "by the sea," maybe an island, between the 17th/18th and the evening of the 21st.

What are your thoughts or experiences?

Arrivée Osaka le 20/02/21 retour Osaka le 03/03/21

Nous avons l'habitude de voyager sans courir, ni faire trop de déplacements. Nous préférons rester plus longtemps au même endroit et "errer" au grès de nos envies en nous baladant hors des sentiers battus plutôt que d'enchainer les lieux et les visites "incontournables"et dire "ça je l'ai visité".

Notre idées c'était de rester du 20 au 25 à Osaka

le 20: arrivée vers midi à l’hôtel , repos l’après midi + balade suivant la fatigue 21: visite d'osaka 22: visite d'osaka 23: parc Universal studio 24: hime-ji

puis du 25 au 3 : kyoto

25: départ pour kyoto depuis Oksaka + visites 26 au 2/03: visites et balades 3 au matin : départ pour l’aéroport et décollage à midi

côté logements: - sur Osaka, pour l'instant je n'ai rien trouvé intéressant, donc si vous avez des bons plans de logement familial, nous sommes preneurs... - sur Kyoto nous aimerions loger dans le quartier nord-ouest, nous souhaitons volontairement sortir du quartier touristique. quelqu'un a-t-il déjà pris un logement avec Ben's Guesthouse ? Nous aurions souhaité un logement avec 2 "chambres séparées" mais je n'arrive pas à trouver mon bonheur dans ce qui colle dans mon budget. si vous avez des idées ....

concernant les visites: -Sur Kyoto nous avons 2-3 points que chacun souhaite voir mais nous n'allons pas enchainer les longues journées surtout avec nos 2 petits marcheurs (vraiment, la marche ce n'est pas leur truc). Nous verrons en fonction des envies de chacun. Pour les enfants nous avions vu le studio de film samouraï , si quelqu'un l'a testé, combien de temps avez vous mis pour le visiter? Seulement, Mon fils de 7 ans me supplie pour aller visiter la maison de Totoro en banlieue de Nagoya ainsi que la ville de Iga qui est une ancienne ville de Ninja (avec maison à visiter et musée) mais je ne sais pas trop où les caser ? depuis Kyoto? sachant que dans les 2 cas il faudrait compter 1 journée chaque... Il resterait 3.5 jours pour Kyoto, cela semble jouable mais dans ce cas j’enlève le studio de film et la journée à Ohara...Aller sur Iga permettra, du coup de découvrir la campagne japonaise de ce côté là. Ces 2 destinations sont elles facilement accessibles? -Pour Osaka, nous n'avons pas d'objectifs particulier si ce n'est le château d'Osaka, Universal studio et Himeji. pour le reste, on verra sur place. si nous avions eu un peu plus de temps, nous aurions aimé pousser jusqu'à la région autour de wakayama et nous y "perdre" en train le temps de 2 jours.

Un temps nous avions penser visiter osaka en 1ere partie et remplacer Kyoto par kanazawa et takayama. Mais nous avons peur que pour les enfants cette partie soit moins attractive, enfin surtout moins variée pour eux.
