I hope this won’t just be a one-off post—I’ll try to share our bike trips with you here regularly. To start: our May trip on the Elberadweg, the queen of German bike paths, between the stunning city of Dresden and Magdeburg. I invite you to visit:

Elberadweg in Germany – From Dresden to Magdeburg

The Elbe bike path is about 1200 km long, following the river from its source in the Giant Mountains in the Czech Republic to its mouth in Cuxhaven, on the North Sea. The route crosses a variety of landscapes: mountain valleys, vineyards, open plains, and coastline. As is often the case in Germany, the signage is excellent and the route easy to follow.

But what surprised us was the number of cobblestone sections! Sure, the cobblestones are well-laid and fairly smooth—but they’re still cobblestones. And when they disappear, they’re often replaced by concrete slabs, typical of river dikes. That’s just part of the face of this 30-year-old "queen"—a heritage that’s hard to replace entirely with fresh asphalt.

Along the way, don’t miss the many cultural highlights. Dresden impresses with its restored old town, the Frauenkirche, and the Brühl Terraces along the Elbe—it’s one of Germany’s most elegant cities. In Meissen, you can visit the famous porcelain factory and its Gothic cathedral. Wittenberg is a must-stop to follow in Martin Luther’s footsteps, with its castle church and Reformation Museum. And to finish, in Dessau-Roßlau, besides the Bauhaus, don’t miss the stunning Dessau-Wörlitz landscape gardens—one of the oldest English-style parks in Europe.

We were invited to a friend’s wedding in this beautiful part of Brittany, so we took the opportunity to spend a few days there—first on the Pink Granite Coast and then in Cornwall. Our friends, who are from the Trégor region, had found us a really nice little gîte in Tonquédec, just a stone’s throw from the coast. It was the perfect base for exploring the area’s iconic sites. We stayed in a lovely little house that combined authenticity, comfort, elegance, and tranquility.

Our first trip to the coast was to Ploumanac’h, a small village we discovered thanks to Stéphane Bern’s show. It’s an adorable little fishing port where we parked the car before continuing on foot along the sea. It’s charming—more than that, it’s magical!



Our first walk, our first hike along the coastal path, and our first photos of these massive rocks bathed in light.





The views change with every turn, and so do the surprises—especially the view of the Château de Costaérès.

The path through the woods leads us to the Chapel of Saint Guirec, which overlooks the beach.





This pretty little beach is famous for its oratory, which sits in the middle of the sand and houses the statue of St. Guirec. In the past, young women hoping to marry within the year would often pray to him—they’d stick a needle into his nose! Today, the statue is made of stone, but back then, it was wooden, which must’ve made it easier.





It’s really charming, well-sheltered, and the water is crystal clear. We noticed that everywhere we went!

How to use local transport... local bus for the trip from Dubrovnik to Kotor while avoiding organized tours leaving from Dubrovnik. The flexibus buses cost 32 € ...64 € round-trip... other buses are 28 €..... I don’t think Croatians charge that much for a 92 km bus ride... anyone have any info.... or should we rent a car if there are two of us? Best regards, Serge

Hello everyone! I just got back from a little trip to Cambodia, and I really wanted to share this experience with you—because honestly, it was wow from start to finish. I set my bags down in Siem Reap, and even though I knew the temples would be amazing… I wasn’t expecting that much beauty. Angkor Wat, of course, is THE classic, and you quickly understand why. I went super early in the morning to see the sunrise (yes, 4:30 AM wake-up, and no complaining 😊), and I don’t regret a second of it: that soft light, the silhouettes of the towers in the mist… you feel so small. I also loved Bayon, with its mysterious faces, and Ta Prohm, overrun by giant roots—guaranteed Tomb Raider vibes, but without the crowds of Lara Croft. What I found amazing is that beyond the big temples, there are plenty of quieter, almost forgotten spots where you can sit, listen to the birds, and just soak in the moment. It was hot (really hot!), so I didn’t hesitate to take breaks in the shade with a nice cold mango juice. For nature, I took a little trip to Tonlé Sap Lake. Very different, more raw, but super interesting. The floating villages are surprising—it makes you think about life at the rhythm of the water, and I was lucky enough to chat a bit with a local thanks to my guide. Authentic, simple, and touching. And then those kids rowing like pros in plastic boats… respect. In short, this trip did me so much good. Landscapes that filled my eyes, sincere smiles, and that feeling of having brushed against something bigger, something older. Cambodia—I’m not really leaving it behind; I’m bringing a little piece of it with me. If you’re hesitating about going: just go for it! And if you have any practical questions, I’d be happy to chat 😊

I’m planning a hiking trip to India in 2025 with my wife and another couple.

We’ll most likely be leaving at the end of April (TBC).

This isn’t my first time hiking abroad, and I’ve often run into parasites that take advantage of the night to bother you (you know what I’m talking about, haha).

I’ve dealt with flies, mosquitoes, and all kinds of critters during my sleep before, but for this trip to India—which could already be pretty hectic—I really want to be prepared and avoid this issue.

If you know where I can find effective mosquito nets that won’t give me any trouble with mosquitoes, I’m all ears!

Bonjour à tous, nous partons à 4 couples de navigateurs louer 3 semaines un catamaran aux îles sous le vent fin octobre. Vous vous doutez qu'avec le Covid il faut et il a fallu jongler avec les reports de vol et les locations. Tout cela avait été finalisé fin d'année dernière mais il a fallu tout revoir au fur et à mesure que la date du vol (28/10 Frenchbee) approchait. Après le bateau nous passerons une semaine entre Moorea (4 jours) et Tahiti (2 jours). Initialement nous partions ensuite pour la Nouvelle Zélande où nous avions réservé un camping-car à 2 couples pour 3 semaines mais la N.Z. nous a fermé ses frontières. Pour remplacer cette dernière escapade, tant qu'à être en Océanie, nous pensons passer 8 jours aux Marquises du 25/11 au 3/12. J'ai prévu d'être du 25 au 29 à Hiva Oa avec une visite le 28 à Tahuata et du 29 au 3/12 à Nuku Hiva. Comme ce sera rapide je ne voudrai pas rater l'essentiel et je m'adresse donc à vous pour des bons conseils, nous aimons randonner et pour se faire vaut-il mieux louer un véhicule ou s'adresser à un guide? En avril dernier, à la suite de Régis puis de Claire, nous avions partagé sur ce forum notre pérégrination atypique au Kenya dans la réserve du Masaï-Mara. A l'issue de ce récit, nous avions imaginé repartir soit en randonnée sur les plus hautes terres d'Ethiopie (une dizaine de jours dans les montagnes du Simien lors d'un long séjour en 2009), soit de suivre le cours tranquille de la rivière Luangwa, dans sa partie sud (deux semaines à cheval sur octobre et novembre 2019). Dans le but d'animer les colonnes désertées de Voyage Forum en raison d'une sournoise pandémie, nous avons choisi l'Afrique Australe, précisant que ce texte, destiné à notre entourage ne correspond pas tout à fait à l'esprit "Carnets de Voyages" du site, vous nous en excuserez. Comme la précédente, cette escapade est l'une des rares que nous ayons réalisée avec une agence : y prendrait-on goût ou vieillirait-on ? Pour agrémenter ses longues pages d'écriture (une trentaine pour la partie South Luangwa N P et une dizaine pour la visite de Mosi-oa-Tunya et alentours), Yolande a sélectionné les photos les plus représentatives de cette vadrouille zambienne, dont cette magnifique panthère, rencontrée dès notre entrée dans le sanctuaire.

bonjour, étant confiné comme bon nombre et pour la bonne cause, je réfléchi à une destination pour cet été, dans l'espoir que tout redevienne à la normal le plus vite possible.... l'idée première est de partir avec un vol lowcost de Marseille et d'atterrir à Edimbourg. quelques jours en Ecosse et hop en Irlande pour rejoindre Dublin et retour à Marseille.... La totalité de l'escapade devrait prendre une 10 aine de jours, nous sommes 4 (2 adultes, 2 "enfants" de 20 et 17 ans) avec une passion commune le rugby... Questions : Est il possible de louer une voiture en Ecosse et de la rendre à Dublin ? Des idées de locations, hôtels, Bn'B, etc. ? Une idée de circuit ? Merci à tous et prenez soins de vous 😉

Avec ma femme et ma fille qui aura presque 4 ans en Aout, nous réfléchissons à partir en Grèce. Pas forcément dans les îles, plutôt Continentale. Dates : vers le 02/08 et jusqu'au 18, 19/08.

J'ai regardé un peu à gauche à droite et je ne tombe que sur des road trip. Ce qui est génial (j'en fait aussi) mais moins avec un enfant de même pas 4 ans.

En gros nous souhaiterions alterner les 2, c'est à dire prendre 2 3 points de chute et rayonner avec voiture de location. Nous arriverons et repartirons d’Athènes.

L'escapade serait éventuellement dans ce style là : Athènes Nauplie Leonidion Mistra et Sparte à côté Gythio Monemvasio (peut être) Athènes Nous sommes vraiment ouvert à toutes idées.

Notre style de voyage est surtout orienté, rencontre et paysages extérieurs. Pas intéréssé par les hotels resorts (location style AirBnb est le top). Et quand même un peu de détente et plage.

C'est pour ca que sur l'itinéraire indiqué plus haut, je pensais faire : - 2 jours Athènes (En air bnb par exemple) - 5, 6 jours ailleurs (toujours airbnb) - 5, 6 jours encore ailleurs (toujours airbnb) - 1, 2 jours sur Athènes avant de repartir

Du coup, vous qui êtes expert, avez vous des idées d'endroits où je pourrais louer et ensuite rayonner ? obligation d'avoir la voiture pour 10 12 jours ? ca ne me dérange pas de louer au jour le jour en fonction.

Je pars pour Sousse ce week end et j'aimerai savoir s'il est possible de recruter un guide ou un accompagnateur pour des visites des trucs intéressants dans la région, les agences proposent des visites guidées mais je préférerais quelque chose de plus personnel. Peut-être en demandant au personnel de l'hotel??

Y a-t-il des treks en montagne dans ce secteur? Je veux aussi aller jouer au golf, une suggestion?

Avec mon petit-ami nous aimerions partir le temps d'un week-end, notre choix se porterait sur Londres ou Dublin. J'aurais donc aimé savoir si il y avait des choses à faire un dimanche dans ces villes là ? Et dans des prix raisonnables évidemment. Ca m'ennuierait de "perdre" en quelque sorte une journée à ne rien faire. Si vous connaissez aussi d'autres villes ou idées d'escapade où l'on ne s'ennuie pas un dimanche, je suis preneuse !

Bonjour, Au mois de septembre prochain, ma famille et moi (ma femme et 2 enfants de 2 et 4 ans) iront au Maroc pour un voyage de 3 semaines. Nous arriverons à Marrakech et nous repartirons de Tanger. Il s’agira de notre deuxième voyage au Maroc, lors de notre premier périple (2010), nous avions fait Marrakech, Mirleft, Ouazazate, Vallée du Dades, Gorge de Todra, Merzouga et Fes. Malgré le fait que nous avions grandement aimé notre voyage, nous aimerions visiter d’autres choses. Nous avons donc pensé de faire l’itinéraire suivant :

- - Marrakech (2 ou 3 nuits) - - Location d’une voiture et départ vers Taroudant (1 nuit) - - Mirleft (3 ou 4 nuits pour se reposer - coup de cœur de notre premier voyage, superbes plages et beaucoup de quiétude!) - - Guelmin (1 nuit ou juste une escapade à partir de Mirleft - marché de dromadaire le samedi, est-ce que ça vaut la peine ???) - - Tafraoute et sa région immédiate (Amtoudi? 3 ou 4 nuits) - - Avion vers Tanger - - Tetouan (2 nuits) - - Chefchaouen (2 nuits) - - Tanger (3 nuits) - - Retour Que pensez-vous de notre itinéraire? Quelques questions : - - Est-ce que l’Anti-Atlas et le sud vous apparait comme étant un bon choix étant donné que nous avons beaucoup aimé notre précédent voyage? - - Est-ce que nous devrions aller à Essaouira et passer moins de temps ailleurs? - - Est-ce que nous devrions passer par la route Tizi-N-Test? Est-ce un incontournable? - - Comme moyen de transport et en tenant en compte que nous avons deux jeunes enfants avec beaucoup de bagages et pas beaucoup d’aide pour les transporter (!!!). devrions-nous : (1) louer une voiture pour la durée totale de notre voyage c’est-a-dire la louer à Marrakech et la remettre à Tanger; (2) louer une voiture à Marrakech et une autre à Tanger et prendre un avion pour faire Marrakech à Tanger ou (3) louer une voiture à Marrakech, prendre l’avions à Tanger et aller à Tetouan et Chefchaouen en autobus?

quant à moi , Facile et ça ne surprendra personne la Bretagne ! j'aime beaucoup son côté sauvage et préservé , c'est un peu ma deuxième maison. Mais pour changer un peu j'aimerais prévoir une escapade en Languedoc-Roussillon, Région dans laquelle j'ai vécu quelques temps et que j'ai beaucoup aimée. Vu que je suis FRANCO-ITALIENNE je tiens aussi à dire mes destination préférée dans mon pays natal. L'Italie est un très beau pays que j'ai passé presque que toute mon enfance et j'y vais de temps en temps. Les régions que je préfère il a Roma là ou j'ai grandit et je garde de très bon souvenir , il a aussi Abruzzes waouh , une très belle région avec ces montagnes et ces parcs nationaux.

Ma marraine qui y habite depuis septembre me dis que là bas l'hiver arrive et qu'il faut prévoir du chaud mais quand je vois les températures ça ne me semble pas si froid. Il s’agit aussi de notre 1er voyage en Birmanie, nous souhaitons bien évidemment visiter les incontournables: Rangoun, Mandalay, Le lac Inlé (en faisant un trek de 2 ou 3 jours de Kalaw au Lac Inlé), Bagan et finir par 2 ou 3 jours de repos sur la côte si cela est faisable (Ngapali Beach ou Ngwe Saung ?). Nous sommes aussi prêts à faire sauter cette escapade balnéaire si notre programme est trop chargé. Nous aimons loger chez l’habitant et privilégions les transports en commun (possibilité de prendre un bus de nuit pour gagner du temps). Pouvez-vous aussi me conseiller un itinéraire le plus cohérent possible afin de ne pas perdre trop de temps dans les transports et découvrir ce beau pays ? Merci à vous et très bonne journée!

mon vol entre Sydney et Auckland à changé et au lieux d'avoir 4 h d'escale je me retrouve avec une escale de 13 h à Sydney . je me demandé quoi faire à par attendre ou si c'était possible de sortir et de visiter quelque part. chrystelle
