Que privilégier dans un itinéraire de 10 jours au Camboge, venant de Trat en Thailande avec 3 jours à Angkor ? Merci !

Bonjour, nous partons au Cambodge l'année prochaine pendant 10-15 jours après un tour au VietNam. 1/ Nous pensions arriver par Phu Quoc à Sihanoukville, mais apparemment, on ne peut pas entrer au C par là ? 2/ Est ce vraiment dommage de "louper" Phu Quoc ? Donc, si pas possible, nous allons arriver par Chau doc pour rejoindre soit PP, soit Sihanoukville. 3 /est ce possible d' aller directement à Sihanoukville depuis Chau Doc? Est ce long ? Quels moyens ? Ensuite nous pensions aller à Kampot, Kep... 4 / Est ce qu'il est possible de rejoindre Battambang depuis le Sud O sans passer par PP ? Après : Battambang en bateau pour Siem Rep, puis Siemp Rep PP en bateau. 5 / Est il possible de faire SR Kampong THOM en bateau ou en bus sans passer par PP ? Ensuite nous rejoignons la frontière du Laos par Stung Treng, il paraît que c'est chaud ! Avez vous des infos ? merci les amis...

Je vais passer 2 semaines prochainement au Cambodge (avec vol de retour à Paris à Bangkok) et j'aimerais terminer par quelques jours de plage-plongée-farniente. 😎 Mais j'hésite entre passer ces quelques jours sur la côte sud (ou une île) du Cambodge, ou bien sur une île en Thailande qui serait à mi-chemin entre Pnom Phen et Bangkok (Koh Chan par exemple).

Quelqu'un parmi vous aurait-il un conseil à me donner, une expérience à partager, ... ? Quelles sont les différences entre les côtes thailandaises ou cambodgiennes ?

Je part avec mon amie pour deux ou trois semaines au cambodge fin Aôut (et oui c'est pour bientôt) c'est aussi en pleine saison des pluies, mais parait-il il ne pleut pas trop en ce moment.

Aussi quelques questions subsiste J'ai l'intention de faire Angkor, PP, Sihanoukville n'est ce pas un peu trop touristique comme parcours? n'y a t'il pas d'autre endroits a proximité sans egager de trop gros frais qui valent vraiment le coup ? Est il possible ( en cette saison ) de loué une moto pour visiter les temples d'angkor ? j'ai envie de prendre un guide le premier jour puis evoluer plus librement les second et troisieme jours, Le risque de paludisme est il important sur le site ? Quelle sont les veritable centres d'interets a PP, et faut il vraiment tous dissimuler (app photo, banane etc..) dans cette ville que les guides presente comme un peu dangereuse, est il possible de loué raisonablement une moto sans risquer sa vie?, ou le taxi est il bon marché ?(sachant que je ne monte pas sur les moto dop) Quand au station de Sihanoukville et Kep sont elles agréable en cette saison .

J'aimerai faire par de certain choix que j'ai fait pour ce voyage au curieux qui sont en train de faire leur recherche sur cette destination 1° le palu au cambodge !!!!!! J'ai decidé de faire le traitement aprés beaucoup d'avis pioché a droite a gauche, effectivement le cambodge a l'air assez touché par le probleme et je pense qu'il est dommage de ne rien prendre alors que l'on en a les moyen, 2° les Vaccins J'ai fait tous ceux recommandé par le site du ministere des affaires etrangéres sauf l'encephalite japonaise 3° Protections anti moustiques J'ai pris avec les conseils d'un medecin baroudeur la gamme Insect Ecran qui semble etre la plus efficace

Voila j'espere avoir eclairé la lenterne de certains en tout cas je me tiens a disposition pour d'autre infos 🙂

J’arrive le 28 février à Bangkok d’où je compte me rendre directement au Cambodge où j’aurais une petite quinzaine de jours à passer avant de revenir à BKK pour mon vol retour (le 17 mars) vers Paris 🙁.

J’aurais besoin de vos conseils : Je compte commencer par Siem Rep/Angkor… Connaitriez-vous une bonne agence à BKK qui organise le trajet jusqu’à Siem Rep ou le moyen le plus simple/rapide pour s’y rendre ? Avez-vous une idée du tarif ? Je compte rester 4 jours sur Siem Rep. De là, j’hésite : faire un tour à Battambang (pour le trajet en bateau !) ou aller directement à Phnom Penh. Je voudrais passer 2 jours plein à PP avant de rejoindre Kampot/Kep car j’ai aussi envie d’un peu de mer… Quel parcours vous paraît le mieux, combien de temps à consacrer à tout ça ? Quelle(s) plage(s) me conseillez-vous dans le coin : Kep, Sianoukville, autre ? Ensuite je voudrais faire Sianoukville-BKK en bateau/bus. Je cherche des infos précises sur ce trajet, sur le temps que ça prend, savoir s’il faut prévoir une grosse marge de sécurité pour être à temps à BKK…

Hi everyone, We’re planning to return to Cambodia in July 2026, as a family, for the third time. Since we’ve already visited Siem Reap and Battambang, we’re not considering going back this time. Instead, we’d like to travel more slowly and take the time to settle in. We’re thinking of an itinerary around Mondulkiri, Kampot, and Koh Kong (Tatai waterfalls, mangroves, etc.). For those who know the Koh Kong province and Mondulkiri well: are these areas still accessible and enjoyable during the rainy season? We’d also like to spend 2 or 3 days on an island, but we’re not sure if it’s really feasible at this time of year (sea conditions, boat crossings…). If it’s doable, which one would you recommend? We’re planning to spend only a short time in Phnom Penh, then a few days with family near Koh Thom. If you have any other ideas, firsthand experiences, or suggestions for stops that work well for a trip in July, we’d love to hear them. Thanks in advance !

Hello, I’m starting to plan my adventure in Cambodia. I’ve read a lot of your posts and really appreciate all your articles. Now it’s my turn to share my plans with you: 12/01 arrival in PP 13/01 arrival in SR where I’ll meet up with 2 friends for 6 days exploring the temples and surrounding areas 19/01 I’ll leave and finish the trip solo. I fly back on 29/01 at 8 PM, so I’ve got 10 days for a little immersion. The dilemma is whether to: # head to Battambang, then make my way to PP, Kampot, and 2 nights by the sea # go to Kratie and head down to Kampot with 2 nights by the sea (or, to cut down on kilometers, go via Kampong Cham to Kampot). Option 2 is my preference. I’m almost 70 and not too keen on rushing 😅 Thanks in advance for your time and any helpful tips! Françoise

I’m planning a road trip through Southeast Asia with my girlfriend starting in mid-January 2026, and I’m torn between two possible itineraries.

The goal of the trip is to explore the region before catching a flight to Tokyo at the end. The main difference between my two options is the order in which I’d visit Thailand, Malaysia, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Laos.

👉 Itinerary A: Paris > Thailand (Chiang Mai) > Southern Thailand > Malaysia > Flight from Kuala Lumpur to Siem Reap in Cambodia > Cambodia > Southern to Northern Vietnam > Flight to Tokyo



👉 Itinerary B: Paris > Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur) > Southern Thailand and Bangkok > Cambodia > Southern to Northern Vietnam > Flight from Hanoi to Vientiane (Laos) > Laos > Northern Thailand > Flight from Bangkok to Tokyo



Initially, I thought about doing Malaysia > Thailand > Laos > Vietnam > Cambodia, but after looking into it, it’s tricky to get to Tokyo from Cambodia—there’s no direct flight.

My questions: - Which of these itineraries seems the most logical/smooth in terms of transportation? - Which one do you think offers the best overall experience? - Do you have any other route suggestions or visit orders?

Hi everyone, I’m starting to plan my next trip to Southeast Asia this winter (2.5 months, leaving in early December), and here’s a rough outline of my route—I’d love to share it with you and hear your thoughts and tips.

- I’ll start in Bangkok and already have three spots I’ve marked: Ayutthaya, Kanchanaburi, and Uthai Thani (I haven’t been to any of these places yet). - Next, I’d like to cross the country from west to east to reach the Laos border. I’d love suggestions for any interesting stops along this route—I don’t know this part of Thailand at all... - Then I’ll head into Laos, probably at Savannakhet (you can usually get a visa at the border). - > I’m tempted to spend a week in Hoi An, Vietnam, since I loved that city and the area when I visited two years ago. No visa needed for Vietnam now, so it could be a nice little detour. On the map, it doesn’t look too far, but I know you’ve got to be careful with these things, and I’m not sure if it’s a good idea. Any opinions on this? - Back to Laos (maybe via Dakta), and I’ll head south along the Mekong, probably doing the Bolaven Plateau loop that I missed last time. Then Paksé, the 4,000 Islands... I’ve been before, but I’d happily go back. - Crossing into Cambodia, I’ll follow the Mekong down to Phnom Penh (I know this area and love how untouristy it is). From there, I’ll probably spend a few days in Kep (quieter than Kampot). Still undecided, though. - Then back to Thailand (BKK), likely by plane from Phnom Penh since the borders between the two countries are currently closed (plus, let’s be honest, Cambodian roads... ;-). We’ll see how things look when the time comes. - After that, I’d like to explore southern Thailand, taking it slow with short hops. I’ve got my eye on Khao Sok National Park, and I’ve heard good things about Krabi... Again, I don’t know this region well, so any info or tips would be great.

So, I think this should be doable in 2.5 months, especially since I prefer short hops of 300 km max to avoid getting too tired, and I like staying 2-3 days in each place to explore. Plus, I’ll take a week off to relax if I find a spot I love—maybe by the sea for some real downtime.

So, my flight tickets have just been booked for a trip to Cambodia from November 4th to 27th, 2025. I’ll be traveling solo and want to explore this amazing country while getting a bit off the beaten path. I’m arriving in Phnom Penh and also departing from Phnom Penh. My goal is to travel as much as possible by bus and scooter. What itinerary would you recommend? What are the must-do things? I’m open to all tips and info. I spent 3 weeks in Cambodia this January, and I completely fell in love with this country—especially the Cambodian people. I took my time because it was possible, and it turned out to be a total success. Originally, this trip was planned for 2021 and 2022 with my husband, but COVID and an illness threw everything off. Now traveling solo, I went with Siem Reap à la Carte, a local agency. I can’t recommend Mélanie and Nathalie enough—they helped design the itinerary together with me, and the guides and drivers were top-notch. Since I was alone with them, the connection was incredible.

My itinerary: Phnom Penh (2 nights). I arrived at the airport at 1 PM, and everything went super smoothly—I had my E-visa and E-arrival. I had the afternoon free on arrival, a guide the next morning, and the afternoon free again. Battambang (2 nights) with a local guide for all the visits (temples, the bat flight, bamboo train, the surrounding countryside, markets, etc.). Siem Reap (6 nights). I chose to take the public boat across the Tonlé Sap—8 hours on the water, but it goes by quickly, and the scenery is stunning. Of course, in Siem Reap, it’s all about the Angkor temples—most people come for that—but Nathalie and Mélanie also arranged some unique experiences, like visiting a lacquer workshop (even though this wasn’t my first trip to Asia and I’d seen them before, this one was different). I even tried making incense sticks (I’m not very good at it), and we had lunch at a local’s home. There are, of course, the markets, and I also took a cooking class with a chef at his home, where we ate what we prepared. I also spent another day on a boat visiting a village on the Tonlé Sap. I used my free time for a massage, a stroll around town, and in the evenings, I’d head to Pub Street—guaranteed fun. I also visited the Thousand Lingas River. I won’t list all the temples I saw—you can make your own choices or follow recommendations. Either way, everything is breathtaking. Banlung and Ratanakiri, where I spent 4 nights. Because of that, I didn’t go to Mondulkiri. I loved it—jungle walks, visits to ethnic villages and cemeteries, and for those who want, there are plenty of waterfalls where you can swim. The most tourists I saw at once was 5 (a group of 4 and me a little farther away, so you can have peace and quiet). I also spent time at an elephant sanctuary. I was hesitant at first, but everything had been so perfect up to that point that I went, and I have no regrets. It was just me, the guide, and the rangers—lovely people—and the elephants were living their best lives. Next, I headed to Kratié for 2 nights: temples, the Irrawaddy dolphins, and a half-day on Koh Trong Island by bike, tasting their famous pomelos—a pure delight. No cars on the island, just calm and serenity. On my way to Kep, where I spent 4 nights, I stopped for a night in Kampong Cham, visiting temples, villages, and the bamboo bridge. With this kind of travel style, it’s easy to stop wherever you feel like it. So, I arrived in KEP to taste the famous Kep crabs—don’t miss them! The agency arranged a full-day motorbike tour (I wasn’t the one driving!), exploring the countryside and salt marshes. Of course, you should also visit Kampot, and if you love pepper, make sure to leave room in your luggage to bring some back. A full day of fishing by boat, with lunch on board (the fish we caught—though not by me, I’m terrible at that too). A kayak trip through the mangroves. In short, everything was perfect here too, and I took my time to enjoy the sunsets. Back to Phnom Penh for one last night before returning to France. A sunset cruise on the Mekong, and I visited some places I didn’t have time for when I arrived. This was my first solo trip—I usually travel with someone—but the organization was flawless, and the people were wonderful. I didn’t go to the islands near Sihanoukville, even though that was originally part of the plan. But I truly fell in love with this country. I’m considering Thailand next winter, but I’m also seriously thinking about returning to Siem Reap or even visiting those islands. If you’d like more details, I’m happy to help.
