Je m'envole pour l'Argentine le 12 février et je compte passer deux semaines avec ma copine à visiter les environs. Mais alors que je devais passer les deux autres seule (mon amie reprenant le travail), j'ai retrouvé une amie de longue date qui habite à Recife et avec qui j'ai correspondu pendant des années avant qu'on ne se perde de vue.

Elle m'invite à passer la voir, et j'adorerais! Mais sur les sites où j'essaie de savoir combien me coûterait le vol... je ne vois que des prix exhorbitants... et quant à faire le trajet en train/bus, je me serais peut-être tapée l'aller, mais pas le retour, ce serait beaucoup trop long et pénible...

Que me suggérez-vous? J'aimerais tellement revoir mon amie au Brésil, mais est-ce que je pourrai me le permettre? Combien coûtera le vol, le train, le bus? Est-ce possible?

Bonjour a tous, Je me trouve maintenant a Koh Lanta depuis quelques jours... Quelle desolation... L apres Tsunamie se fait sentir...Plus de la moitie des restaurants et boutiques ont fermes faute de touristes... On peut compter les touristes sur nos doigts. La plupart de Thailandais retournent dans leur village natal ou la ou il y a des touristes puisqu ils n ont pas les reins assez solides pour attendre a la prochaine saison...Ici, la Hi season est terminee.

L ile semble morte, pour ceux qui connaisse Lanta, on dirait qu on retourne 10 ans en arriere... Cependant l ile est tres secure et les gens ne doivent pas hesiter a venir... C est certain que l abondance manque... mais pis... ces gens ont besoin de nous...de notre soutient...

Existe il un bateau entre le pays equateur et Panama ? Je ne souhaite pas passer par la Colombie et je ne veux pas prendre d'avion!

Hier 38 C a l ombre et d un coup la pluie ( alleluiaa est arrivee ) la temperature a chuté de 14 C en 30 minutes, de quoi attraper froid !

Donc je le dis, je le redis et je le re re redis .......faites vraiment attention et renseigner vous si vous etes au fin fond de la Pampa, des Andes ou de la Patagonie....car lorsque l eau arrive en Argentine, ca mouille fort et vite de quoi innonder les routes ! Quels sont les agances de locations les plus interessantes ? Quels sont les endroits accessible et les parcours interessant a effectuer ? Vaut il mieux aller de pays en pays par avion et ensuite louer sur place ? Vaut il mieux faire un mix train / bus / avion et aller ou dans quel ordre : Commencer par buenos aires et finir par lima ?

J avais pense a la moto mais j ai cru comprendre qu il fallait mieux ne pas y songer vu l etat des routes m a t on dit.

Je suis preneur de toutes info ASAP puisqu il ne me reste plus que 1 mois pour tout reserver.

J aimerais avoir un bon plan hebergement, notamment savoir dans quel quartier il vaut mieux etre.

D autre part j aimerais aussi assister a un match a la bombonera, si quelqu un a un tuyau pour achat de billet et pour les matchs a venir, je suis preneur.

Mon amie et moi envisageons de faire l'Argentine cet Hiver, entre Bueno Aires, puis descebdre vers le cap horn en voiture.

D'où ma question, est ce faisable en voiture (2500 à 3000 km) en qqs jours ?

Nous ne partirons au total qu'une douzaine de jours (car enfanst, travail, etc ....)

Qualité des routes ? locations de voiture ? entre BA et le Cap Horn ..... Est ce dingue ou largement faisable ?

PS : Et un Aller retour vers l'antartique depuis la terre de feu, c'est faisable ? cher ?

voila, je suis en ce moment en Bolivie et depuis six mois. J'y ai fait un peu de volontariat et pas mal de ptits voyages avec ma copine et d'autres copains Boliviens.

La date de mon retour en France ce raproche et j'avais en tete depuis longtemps de voyager un moment tout seul. Je suis partie pour un mois, et une semaine est deja deriere moi. Bon vous allez vous dire, "ou est ce qu'il veut en venir ce ptit gar...?" J'y arrive.

Donc, une bonne semaine que je me balade tout seul en Bolivie durant laquelle je n'ai croise casiment aucun tourists. Mais la j'arive dans les lieux touristiques (ce matin, je suis arrive a Sucre pour ceux qui connaissent). Voila, il y a pleins de Gringos dans les rues ici...

Et moi qui justement commencais a me sentir un peu seul dans ce voyage, voila qu'ils me font peur...j'ai pas envie de les aprocher. J'ai meme l'impression que ce sont tous des tourists faux et que je suis le seul qui a le droit d'etre ici...

Mais qu'est ce qui m'arrive??? C'est grave docteur?

30 ans de recherche ... le Vietnam si loin, si inaccessible enfin la famille retrouvée le 25 déc 1998 le + beau cadeau sur terre ! Préparatif voyage en famille 4 soeurs. Interminable le vol entre Paris et Saïgon... arrivée à l'aéroport... ouffff que se passe t'il ? nous somme le 29 oct 1998, il fait une chaleur mais ce n'est rien cette sensation ! Nous voici toutes les 4 en train de poser le pied sur la terre de nos ancêtres ! Non seulement l'émotion nous envahit mais peu à peu nous nous rendons compte de la réalité. Nous sommes immenses les vietnamiens nous arrivent à l'épaule ! ils sont tous parqués derriere des barrières avec interdiction de les franchir ! c'est impressionnant !

Ah voilà notre nom sur une pancarte et un tout petit bout de femme avec un sourire qui lui fait le tour de la tête nous accueille. Ses deux mains chaleureuse nous rassurent et elles nous guide vers le taxi réservé qui nous conduira jusqu'à notre hôtel. En route, pffff quelle circulation, des cyclos, des motos, des vélos, des taxis et chacun usent et abusent de son klaxon ! Ah mais ils sont fous ils conduisent dans n'importe quel sens, il en vient de tous les côtés ! pfff ça passe à un cheveu ! Impressionnant, stressant mais délicieux à la fois nous n'avions jamais vu ça !

Le lendemain matin nous partons de bonne heure pour O mon village où maman est née. Le taxi nous conduit pendant + de 5 h environ c'est long, tout le monde dort, moi je suis trop excitée par toutes ces nouveautés, ces paysages féériques. J'immortalise vite fait tout ce petit monde dans les bras de morphée et clip clap c'est dans la boîte à photo. Je suis comme une enfant, le nez collé à la vitre et je contemple... oh un bufle je n'en avais jamais vu de si près, il laboure les rizières. et les nénuphars rose qui commencent à s'ouvrir c'est trop beau !

Ah nous nous arrêtons, tiens une guitoune, notre chauffeur paye le droit d'utiliser la route, en fait c'est l'autoroute... vitesse maxi 80 km/h nous roulons au milieu des vélos, des motos tiens un pouss pouss qui traverse l'autoroute... nous ralentissons car un bufle n'a pas terminée sa lente traversée... le riz sèche à même le bitume... arrêt à nouveau cette fois-ci nous traversons un bac et devons sortir de la voiture. Nous sommes assaillis par une multitude de vietnamiens pieds nu qui tentent de nous vendre des légumes, des fruits des boissons des passeoires, des pelles de tout ... Devant notre regard affolé, le chauffeur nous autorise de rester dans le véhicule mais demande aux hommes de traverser à pied. un ouf de soulagement. A travers la vitre, les gens nous dévisagent ils sont peu habitués aux touristes. la traversée dure + d'1/2 heure... nous traversons un autre bac et nous réempruntons une route toute aussi parsemée de couleurs, senteurs, maisons sur pilotis, mes yeux ne savent plus où regarder tellement c'est merveilleux.

Nous approchons le village, oh il y a foule tout le monde nous accueille Tata nous montre le chemin, comme elle ressemble à maman je suis toute émue et mes yeux me trahissent, mais bon je me reprends vite tiens, je scrute mes soeurs...elles se reprennent vite aussi !!!

Tata nous conduit à l'école du village. nous rentrons par un portail et le directeur nous accueille avec quelques professeurs... petit thé... discussion avec ma soeur aînée qui est trésorière d'une association à Lyon en vue d'une création possible d'une classe supplémentaire.

Nous nous retrouvons dans la cour... la cloche sonne et quelque bambins nous rejoignent... puis nous sommes encerclés par une nuée d'enfants... ils sont impressionnés de nous voir... ils nous regardent avec curiosité se demandant qui nous sommes. L'interprète nous indique c'est la 1ère fois qu'il voit un occidental. le village de O mon est perdu dans le delta du mékong et aucun touriste ne se rend jamais là-bas !

Ils crient de plus en plus et bientôt toutes les classes nous encerclent et c'est le brou ha ha total, tous les gamins maintenant veulent toucher le ventre de Bernard notre beau frère il faut dire qu'ils le prennent pour un bouddha avec son ventre bedonnant c'est pas étonnant ! Les enfants sont heureux !

Nous devons nous rendre vers la maison... avec la fin des moussons le sentier est un peu inondé et le voisin nous amène dans son sampan... nous voilà sur un des bras du mékong... le paysage... les petites maisons avec les toits fait en feuilles de palmiers d'eau, les gamins qui s'amusent dans l'eau... un peu plus haut tiens une lessive... en remontant tiens... rien de tel que le mékong pour laver la salade... nous voici arrivés à la maison o% maman est née !!! Moment d'émotion... mes yeux me piquent j'essuie une petite larme... mes soeurs sont dans le même état que moi...

L'autel des ancêtres... nous rendons hommage et pensons très fort à maman... une prière de la plus grande à la plus petite... je suis la dernière et ma prière terminée...enfin maman ton âme peut reposer en paix !

Ce soir j'ai envie de dire à tout le monde que la vie vaut la peine d'être vécue, que la vie est belle si l'on s'en donne les moyens. On dit souvent cela mais quoi de plus vrai? Tout le monde est capable de réaliser de grandes choses s'il en a vraiment envie..VIVRE....

Alors, partir pour de nouveaux horizons...quoi de plus exitant?

Mais simplement, qu'est-ce que l'on recherche en partant ailleurs? J'ai l'impression de n'être bien qu'ailleurs, loin des miens alors que je m'entend très bien avec ma famille et mes amis proches. Mon grand père a fait le tour du monde. J'en suis fière et pourtant lui n'en parle pas beaucoup (c'était en temps de guerres, il était mécanicien dans la marine)...Qu'est-ce qui me pousse aujourd'hui à vouloir "partir" sans cesse? J'ai toujours besoin de découvrir de nouvelles choses, de nouvelles personnes...Tout est tellement plus fort ailleurs..Mais le meilleur moment est celui de la découverte..et puis après?? Partir toujours partir, j'ai peur de passer à côté de ma vie.

En y réfléchissant, à chaque fois que je pars pour une nouvelle destination, c'est un petit peu de moi qui se dévoile au contact des autres...Tout est plus facile ailleurs, l'image que l'on renvoie...J'ai besoin de découvrir de nouveaux horizons pour me connaître chaque fois un peu plus ...c'est peut être ça la clef...?

I’ve blocked out 3 weeks at the end of March/beginning of April, arriving in Sydney and departing from Adelaide while following the coast.

Kangaroo Island is a bit of a question mark for me. If I go, I can dedicate 2.5 days to it. Is it worth the time and the cost? I’ve read plenty of travel journals highlighting the landscapes and wildlife, but I’m sure I’ll see plenty of that along my route anyway. I’m not factoring in the financial side (which isn’t negligible for KI), but I’d rather not be disappointed. What are the real added values of KI, especially since the island has been affected by fires? I’ve also come across people online calling it a tourist trap. For example, I ruled out Phillip Island because it felt too organized and structured. Sorry if I’m opening Pandora’s box here!

I got approval for my visa on May 16th. There’s a new provider handling passport delivery now, but when I submitted my application online, it was a different one—I’d already paid for delivery with them. Specifically, it was CSRA FRANCE SARL, 3-5 rue St Georges in Paris. I’d like to get a refund for that delivery, but there’s no way to reach the embassy, and I don’t have a phone number or email address to contact them. MOROCCO END 2024 / BEGINNING 2025 Off-season, I was lucky enough to negotiate hotel prices. I should also mention that this was for a solo traveler until December 30th. After that, there’ll be three of us! Practical info. Here’s all the info I gathered during my 3-month trip. Cities: TANGIER / CHEFCHAOUEN / FES / MOULAY IDRISS, VOLUBILIS / AZROU / MIDELT / ERRACHIDIA / RISSANI / MERZOUGA / TINGHIR / BOUMLANE DADES, AIT OUGLIF / OUARZAZATE / TALIOUINE / TAROUDANT / TIZNIT / TAFRAOUT / SIDI IFNI, LEGZIRA / AGADIR / ESSAOUIRA / MARRAKECH ///

From there, we’ll be three people. Cities: IMLIL / OUARZAZATE / AGDZ / ZAGORA / AIT BEN HADDOU / MARRAKECH / ESSAOUIRA / CASABLANCA. (Generally, I found that mattresses in Morocco were quite hard. My solution: I put two, even three folded blankets on the mattress to add some softness. Wi-Fi almost never works in the room.)

Tangier: Hôtel Fuentes Petit Socco, Old Medina +212 539 934 669 (For one person, end of October) Upon arrival, 19 € for a double room with a private bathroom. Breakfast included. Chefchaouen: Dar Besmellah Av Ibn Askar +212 539 986 489 (For one person, end of October). I don’t recommend it. A small, low-ceilinged room with a window facing a patio. Very dark and damp. Shared bathroom. 9 € Dar Bleu Pearl N° 4 Derb Benyaakoub +212 (0)539 88 28 86. Negotiated on-site to 130 MAD instead of 160 on Booking. Small room, furniture, Wi-Fi, private bathroom. Fes: Riad Alfredo or Riad Rocco—it’s the same place. It’s in a very narrow alley. N° 15 Derb Sidi Kjih or Qjih Talla Sagira +212 662 769 688 (see photos and virtual tour) Negotiated to 13 € on-site; on Booking, it was 16 €. Breakfast included. Atypical Anne room with private bathroom, Wi-Fi. The room is a bit dark. One of the best beds on my trip. Again, this was for a solo traveler off-season (end of October to end of December). Moulay Idriss: Gite El Menzeh (see the map) Negotiated on-site to 14 € with breakfast; on Booking, it was 24 €. I also negotiated for dinner—very good and hearty—for 5 € (the manager wanted 20 €). I stayed in the large upstairs room with a double bed, window, and private bathroom, not the tiny windowless rooms downstairs. Azrou: Hôtel des Cèdres Place Mohamed V. (see the map and photos) Negotiated 13 € instead of 16 € on Booking for a room with two small beds and a private bathroom. This hotel is honestly run-down and not worth the price at all. The owner thinks it’s a very classy hotel because of its old reputation! Midelt: Chez Ali, city center (see map) Negotiated to 14 € instead of 17 € on Booking. Room with two beds, bathroom, window, small terrace, and Wi-Fi. Er Rachidia: Hôtel El Fekri. Rue Moulay Abdalah Ben Ali (see map and photos) Couldn’t negotiate on-site—14 €, but on Booking, it was 5 € more! Rissani: Hôtel Restaurant Panorama +212 615 978 445 Well, I’d say skip it. Rooms without windows and shared bathrooms. Or on the terrace, there’s a sort of space with a big bed and a small bed behind a locked iron door with a window and an external bathroom that’s also used by people eating on the terrace. If there are people on the terrace, forget about privacy! Not to mention the internet doesn’t work, and the bed is as hard as a straw mat. All that for 150 MAD—luckily, I didn’t book through Booking, or it would’ve been more expensive!!! I didn’t stay. This closet isn’t even worth 100 MAD—and even that’s too much! A little further on, I went to a hotel where no one spoke English or anything else. I got a large room with 3 beds, a private bathroom, and Wi-Fi for 100 MAD. Merzouga: Said’s apartment +212 618 659 264. No real address—it’s right next to a souvenir shop, far from the center. (see photos) 15 €. The apartment is large with two bedrooms and all the comforts. But for me, it was too far from the village. Chez Belkecem: Marked on GPS. I don’t have any coordinates (see photos). +212 666 911 732 Negotiated on-site to 13 € with breakfast; on Booking, it was 2 € more. The room is decorated in a Berber style, with a private bathroom and a window to the outside. The worst breakfast I had in Morocco! Tinghir: Dar Al Medina Av Mohamed V (see map) Beautiful hotel negotiated to 13 € instead of 18 € on Booking. Breakfast included, Wi-Fi, room with a double bed and a single bed, window, and private bathroom. (Top floor) Boumlane Dades: Auberge Tamazirt (no contact) see GPS. Negotiated to 13 € with breakfast. It’s rustic, but I had a private bathroom, a large bed, Wi-Fi, a window, and a double bed. And the best part—the super-friendly owner gave me one of the gas heaters from the hallway. Aït Ouglif: Hôtel Aït Marghad. (See the map) Negotiated to 150 MAD instead of 240 MAD with breakfast. The place was half-closed because it was off-season. Room with a double bed on the ground floor, window, Wi-Fi, and bathroom. Heating provided—essential. The hassle was that there was almost no hot water. Ouarzazate: Hôtel Atlas 13 rue du marché +212 524 887 745 It’s on the pedestrian street. (See photos) Negotiated to 13 €. Old-fashioned room, double bed with a very hard mattress. Private bathroom, window, and Wi-Fi. Taliouine: Hôtel Le Safran. A 20-minute walk from the center—no other choice. Otherwise, there are a few local hotels, but even if I’m not always picky, there are limits. (See the map) Negotiated from 300 MAD to 200 MAD. Breakfast, Wi-Fi, window, king-size bed, private bathroom. The room is large (No. 11). (There’s a pool in the hotel.) Hôtel Atlas Bordeaux: +212 666 752 292 (next to the bus station) Usually, I’m not too picky, but honestly, skip this one. This place could be good because it’s central if: the cleaning was thorough. The bathrooms need to be redone... etc. No sheets—just a sort of blanket on the mattress and another to cover yourself. Obviously not clean. No towel. A bathroom that hasn’t been cleaned in way too long. In short, absolutely avoid. 120 MAD! Taroudant: Hôtel (mini) Atlas Bld Mansour Eddahbi (see map and photos) Double room with window, large bed, private bathroom, Wi-Fi (not great). A hotel that doesn’t look like much but is sparkling clean! 90 MAD for a single, 120 MAD for a double. Tiznit: Résidence Chem (see map) 100 MAD for a room with two single beds (very hard), window, private bathroom, and Wi-Fi. Clean but poorly maintained. Tafraout: Espace Tifawine (see the map). Hotel with a pool. Negotiated to 14 € on-site instead of 30 € on Booking. I could even choose my room. A large room with two beds—one big and one small. A large bathroom, a window, and Wi-Fi. Sidi Ifni: Hôtel Suerte Loca. (No contact, see GPS) I paid 140 MAD for a room in this dive—no negotiation possible. My room had a tiny terrace, the walls were repainted, but it’s super noisy (neighbors). Worse, when someone uses the water, there’s a loud machinery noise. That’s not all—the mattress is really worn out and sagging. The bathroom isn’t great. The Wi-Fi doesn’t work! This place still enjoys its old reputation, but it’s really run-down, and everything is old. The bedding is the worst I had in Morocco. Skip it. There’s much better for cheaper elsewhere! Hôtel La Belle Vue: Just before Suerte Loca +212 528 875 242 The reception staff was more than unfriendly. After seeing the rooms, I didn’t stay because the bedding would’ve been like sleeping on a yoga mat. Obviously not worth the 200 MAD asked for. Hôtel Aït Baamrane. Further down on the beach. Same price as above. The only difference is that everything is in good condition and comfortable, with a warm welcome.

Hôtel Safa: (see the map and photos.) On-site, no negotiation possible—200 MAD; on Booking, it was over 350 MAD. Huge room with all the luxury you could hope for. Breakfast included, large bay window, king-size bed, TV, Wi-Fi, furniture, and of course, a private bathroom. Agadir: Hôtel Kamal (see map) The only hotel I booked through Booking because there was a good discount. Except on-site, the hotel never wanted to give me the discount. However, the reception staff is warm and tries to satisfy you. 120 MAD booked on Airbnb! Imlil: Auberge de la Vallée (see map) Large room with 4 beds. All comforts. Private bathroom, heating, Wi-Fi, and breakfast. Negotiated on-site to 300 MAD for three people. Ouarzazate: Hôtel Iazal: Av. Moulay Abdellah +212 524 886 187 (see photos) Very expensive for this hotel. Small room for 3 with a tiny, impractical bathroom. Heating, Wi-Fi, window. The showerhead is placed between the tiny sink and the toilet. The small space floods quickly. Far from the pedestrian center. No negotiation possible—350 MAD for three. Agdz: Guesthouse Le Chant des Palmiers. (See map) Very nice room—more like a small apartment with a fireplace corner, gas heating, private bathroom, Wi-Fi, windows, bedroom area plus two single beds. Breakfast included. Negotiated to 400 MAD for 3 people instead of 840 MAD on Booking. Zagora: Hôtel La Palmeraie. (See map) Room with bathroom, Wi-Fi (not great), heating, and window. Breakfast included. No negotiation—300 MAD (for 3). Aït Ben Haddou: Auberge La Barraka (see the map) Large, beautiful room with windows, Wi-Fi, heating, bathroom. Breakfast included. Pool. Negotiate a good price—but I didn’t note it down. (Around mid-January) Essaouira: El Kasbah Souiria. (See above) Room for three. Same benefits. No negotiation. 500 MAD. Sidi Ifni: To go to Legzira, there are green shared buses that leave every 2 hours for 6 MAD. Petit Taxis: You have to negotiate hard—the price can double. Example: In Fes, they asked me for 50 MAD from the bus station to the Blue Gate. By walking a bit further and being patient, I got a taxi for 20 MAD! Another example: From Agadir’s bus station, they asked for 40 MAD to go to Hôtel Kamal. In the end, I paid 15 MAD! A turbulent period came to an end around 2022.

Many of us have returned to big trips after making only very small ones—or none at all. For a little anecdote, my dentist told me that due to the lack of travel, a lot of clients treated themselves to implants they would’ve otherwise skipped. The joy of traveling again probably gave some vacationers smiles they hadn’t dared to show before!

Here, you can share what’s on your mind: Have these new, real trips disappointed you, rejuvenated you, or just relieved a long frustration?

For my part, not being so young anymore, there was definitely relief but no explosion of joy. I just had the feeling of picking up the thread of life after a foggy pause, with the bitter taste that 2 or 3 years of my life had been partly stolen from me.

Well, yes, it'll be me, the one, returning to our travel or vacation site about this destination. A site still imitated, never equaled, and by far.

A country that, when you discover it, charms you. Then comes the time for nostalgia, followed by one or more returns to the Land of Smiles. It's almost inevitable.

It's a real gut punch when you've met and grown fond of locals, only to learn about all the hardships the Covid sequence brought upon them. Broken careers, shattered hopes, disrupted lives.

Like after the tsunami, life and activity have bounced back, sometimes in different forms. Many things haven't changed much: the exchange rate, the quality of the food, the politeness and kindness of the Thai people.

As for us, we've lost members of our VF Thailand community along the way, to whom we pay our respects, but we're now happy to reconnect with both old and new faces. Sometimes in life, it's a chance to start over, forget old worries and squabbles, and be able to exchange thoughts again on one of our favorite topics.

A quick shout-out to Monsieur François Boucher, without whom, as the saying goes, none of this would have been possible. The growing success of VF over the years silences any criticism on that front. He kept his word on both the maintenance and sustainability of the site. Finally, he can be congratulated for his courageous stances during this troubled period, which, in hindsight, we must admit he got right. On a personal note, it did me good to hear voices like his speak up.

Soon, for the Thailand destination and all others, the word Covid will finally stop appearing, and long live the new era!

Pour démarrer le sujet, voici ce que nous avons prévu : -- les 2 voyages ( USA et Yucatan ) qui étaient prêts seraient reportés à 1 an, peut-être à 2 : c'est de l'optimisme ... -- le voyage de mai, 3 semaines dans les Pouilles : quasi complètement remboursé ; peut-être reporté au printemps : il est fin prêt aussi ! -- cette année, vacances de 6 nuits à la belge : 3 jours à la Côte et 3 jours dans les Ardennes ; un peu court mais une météo plus qu'agréable ; belle bouffée d'air ... J'espère que vous avez mieux à nous raconter !
