Megacom SIM card, how does it work?
by Attila · 2026-06-06 · 67 replies
Hi there,

I’ve never bought a SIM card abroad or even used prepaid cards in France...

So I’m wondering how it all works?

You buy a SIM card and pop it into your phone. Okay, so far so good... 😏

But after that?

I can’t find the price of prepaid cards or how they work with MegaCom.

If someone could give me a step-by-step guide... 😊

Thanks! 🙂
Seoul Airport: taxi, bus, or subway to get to the city center?
by Sinforosa · 2026-05-28 · 2 replies
Hi there,

I just booked my hotel in Seoul—it’ll be near Unhyeongung, on Samil-Daero 30-Gil—and I’m wondering if there’s public transport from the airport to this address (bus or subway)? If not, what’s the taxi fare? I read it’s around 50 or 60 €.
Credit cards for car rentals in Chile
by Audreyaussie · 2026-05-26 · 4 replies
Hi everyone, French travelers in Chile—what credit cards do you use for your various car rentals in the country? I’m traveling in September and was planning to switch my regular debit card (a VISA PREMIER in deferred debit mode) for the deposit guarantee.

My rentals are with Figal in Punta Arenas, Econautos in Arica, and Chilean Rent a Car in Temuco, and all of them want the deposit on a credit card. For me, deferred debit *should* work, but I’ve read comments saying the opposite.

How’s it actually working on the ground with these rental companies right now? Will a deferred debit card work, or not at all?

In France, banks don’t issue credit cards, right—or am I mistaken?

Thanks for your help!
Daydreams in Corsica.

Hi everyone,

For those who can’t travel right now, I thought I’d offer a little escape—maybe!—through some images of Corsica (where I’ve lived for 48 years). This won’t be a structured travel journal or a step-by-step story, just a mishmash of landscapes and more... Through these photos, we’ll jump from one place to another, one season to the next, with no real order.

I debated adding details to each image but decided that for daydreaming, you don’t need much chatter—maybe just a place name.

Sharing cabin on Toulon-Propriano crossing and/or stay in Porto-Vecchio
by Voyageurgui · 2026-05-16 · 0 replies
Hi there, I’m traveling solo to Corsica on Tuesday, June 9, leaving from Toulon and arriving in Propriano the next day (June 10). I’m offering to share my crossing—of course, you’d need to book your own ferry ticket as a foot passenger—but I can give you a ride and share my cabin (twin beds). We can discuss the price. 😊

After that, I’m heading to Porto-Vecchio, so I can drop you off there if you’d like.

I’ve booked a spot at a campsite where I rented a hard-sided cabin from June 10 to 18. If you’re interested, we could even share the week together.

Have a great day.
Templestay in South Korea
by Sinforosa · 2026-05-10 · 15 replies
Hi,

While researching South Korea, I came across the term "templestay," which refers to a Korean program that lets you stay in a traditional temple to discover Buddhism and Korean culture by living like the temple residents and doing activities like making lanterns. A templestay isn’t just for foreign tourists—on the booking site, I saw that some temples are more geared toward foreigners, with English-speaking monks.

I was wondering if it’s still worth it, especially in temples where the monks don’t speak English?
Questions about a stay with cultural and outdoor activities in Porticcio
by Fastball83 · 2026-05-03 · 1 reply
Hi everyone,

I’ll be staying in Porticcio for a week in mid-June.

I’d love some tips on things I’d like to do while I’m there:

- Which rivers with waterfalls can you swim under or in natural "pools" near Porticcio?

- Where can I go to listen to Corsican singing in a church in the area (is there a specific day of the week for this, for example)?

- Which restaurant would you recommend for Corsican specialties in Sartène?

- Are there any excursions (Lavezzi Islands, Calanques de Piana) where we might spot dolphins?

- Where can I do hobie cat or optimist sailing, as well as jet skiing, around Porticcio?

That’s all for now! 😉 😉 😉

Thanks in advance for any tips you can share!
Which neighborhood to stay in in Seoul?
by Sinforosa · 2026-05-01 · 22 replies
Hi there,

I’m starting to look at neighborhoods in Seoul, and I’m leaning toward staying in a hotel in Insa-Dong—I’ve spotted one really close to Unhyeongung. Is this a good area—nice and convenient for exploring the city?

Otherwise, I’ve also found another hotel in Yongsan-Gu, right near the station of the same name. Is that station useful for getting around Seoul?

Since I’ll be in South Korea for nearly two months, I plan to spend at least a week in Seoul to recover from jet lag (it takes me a while to adjust...). So, I’d love a neighborhood that’s pleasant and a hotel not too far from a subway station.

Thanks in advance!
Which hikes should we prioritize in Cap Corse and the Agriates?
by Toulousaine7 · 2026-04-30 · 1 reply
hi there,

I’m planning a trip around Cap Corse and the AGRIATES in 2026, from May 8th to 15th (there are still 2 spots left, by the way! Just DM me if you're interested).

I’d love to know which hikes are worth prioritizing in the AGRIATES. We’ll be staying in SALECCIA for two days as our base—what should we focus on from there? A round trip to IGNHU beach? Any other suggestions? For Ostricano, I think it’s too far for a round trip... Thanks for your tips! Have a great day, Anie, Toulouse

Mare a Mare Sud: Organizing Accommodation and Transfers
by CaroRando · 2026-04-08 · 1 reply
Hi everyone,

I’d like to do the Mare a Mare Sud in May over 4 days. I’ve found quite a few places to stay along the route, but I’m stuck on the start and finish. I’ll be arriving by plane on Sunday evening and would like to start pretty early on Monday morning. Ideally, accommodation right at the trailhead (Alzu di Gallina) would be amazing, but I can’t find anything. Any tips? Also, for the transfer from Figari Airport to Porto Vecchio or Alzu di Gallina? At the end, I’d like to pick up a rental car—any advice on that too?

Thanks in advance!

Long layover in Seoul (ICN): questions about free guided tours from the airport?
by Lescaribous · 2026-03-22 · 7 replies
Hi there, I’ve got a long layover (about 10 hours) in Seoul on an upcoming trip. I arrive from Phnom Penh at 7:20 AM and depart for Montreal at 6:00 PM.

First question: Will my checked baggage be transferred automatically? I have a single ticket from KTI to YUL (Air Canada ticket—KTI-ICN operated by Asiana (codeshare) and ICN-YUL by Air Canada).

Second question: I saw it’s possible to join free guided tours (Airport Transit Tour). What do you think of this kind of service? And is my "actual" layover time (accounting for security checks, check-in, etc.) enough to do one of these tours?

Thanks in advance to everyone who chimes in on this!
Qatar Airways: cancellation and incomplete rescheduling
by Japanboy64 · 2026-03-17 · 30 replies
So, even before starting my explanation, I’d like to introduce myself since this is my first post on the forum :) I’m Jérôme, a huge Asia enthusiast, and I’m currently in the process of moving to Japan with my family in 2028.

Now, onto the topic :)

We’re a family of four traveling together to Seoul, with two separate bookings.

Our original itinerary was: Madrid → Doha → Seoul (March 23–24)

The issue is that our entire outbound flight was canceled, and the airline simply rescheduled the Madrid → Doha leg. Now we’re left with an incomplete journey, with no solution to reach our final destination (Seoul).

Since then:

- Can’t modify flights online (technical error every time) - Can’t get help via chat or WhatsApp - Phone support is unreachable, and the usual French number isn’t working right now

We don’t want a refund. We just want to be rerouted to Seoul, as our original ticket promised.

We’re flexible:

- On dates (we can leave on March 21 or 22 instead of the 23rd) - On the itinerary (different layovers if needed)

Have any of you dealt with this before? Do you know how to unlock a booking in this case or get a rerouting? We’re considering going straight to the airport to resolve it at the Qatar Airways counter....

Thanks so much for your help! 😊
Ferry crossing from Santa Teresa di Gallura to Bonifacio
by Bb83 · 2026-02-19 · 2 replies
Hello, At the beginning of June, we’ll be spending a few days in Sardinia. We’ve decided to return via a detour through Corsica and want to make the crossing from Santa Teresa di Gallura to Bonifacio (2 people and 1 car). There are currently two companies, Moby Lines and Ichnusa Lines, that operate this route. Unfortunately, we don’t know either of them at all. The prices and crossing times are pretty much the same, and we’d like to choose the most reliable one (punctuality/risk of cancellation for a booked crossing) and, if possible, the more comfortable of the two. Could you share your thoughts on either company to help us decide? Thanks in advance for your replies. Have a great day.
Retiring in Corsica
by Domnib01 · 2026-02-16 · 24 replies
Hello, I’ve visited Corsica several times with our kids, and we loved the warm welcome and friendliness of the locals as we explored many villages. We’re originally from the JURA region. Now that we’re retired, we’d like to live somewhere between Bastia and Porto-Vecchio. Which village or town would you recommend for a peaceful and welcoming lifestyle?
Morocco SIM Card
by HerveR · 2026-02-08 · 4 replies
Hi there, Just back from 3 weeks in Morocco, I’m selling a SIM card (INWI operator) at a low price. It still has 15 MAD + 10 GB of data left. This gives you a local Moroccan number to make/receive calls and texts without extra fees, and the data lets you use WhatsApp. See the 2 photos. Sold for 6 euros + postage
Should I book everything in advance for South Korea?
by Sinforosa · 2026-01-19 · 2 replies
Hello,

I’ll be buying my ticket to South Korea soon and I’m wondering if it’s possible to improvise once I’m there.

It’s a two-month trip in July and August. I know it’s not the best time to visit South Korea (weather-wise), so it’s the low season, but I imagine there’ll still be tourists since it’s school holidays in Europe and other countries. Is it advisable to book hotels and trains well in advance (and possibly museum entries and other tourist spots)?

I really don’t like booking weeks in advance, and for a two-month trip, it’s complicated to plan everything.

Usually, I book the first few nights in the country ahead of time, then reserve a hotel two or three days before—or even the day before—and for trains and buses, I just go to the station and take the first one leaving. For museums and other tourist spots, I buy the ticket at the counter.

I’d like to travel this way in South Korea, but is it easy to do, or will I struggle?

Thanks in advance.
Travel time from Zonza to Cargèse or Porto
by Laetiz · 2026-01-14 · 3 replies
Hi, We’re heading to Corsica at the end of July, and after a 4-night stay in Zonza, I’d like to head toward Cargèse or Porto to visit the Calanques de Piana. What’s the actual travel time? Maps says 2h40/3h, but I’m wondering if that’s really accurate. How long does it take to get back to Ajaccio Airport afterward? Thanks!

Which airline for Seoul?
by Sinforosa · 2025-12-27 · 52 replies
Hi there,

When I run searches on Skyscanner, I see that only Lufthansa has flights to Seoul with just one stop. Air France doesn’t show up, even though I thought the French airline served Seoul? I can’t even log into the Air France website—it keeps glitching.
SIM Card + Transport Reservations in Tamil Nadu and Kerala
by Petithunier · 2025-12-20 · 4 replies
Hi everyone, we’re heading to Tamil Nadu and Kerala at the start of the year for 30 days. We did Rajasthan 12 years ago, but things change fast. I’ve read that to get a SIM card, you have to buy it at a shop and then go to the operator to get a number; you’d also need an Indian mobile number. Has anyone here had recent experience with this? For buses and trains, do you need to book them well in advance? Any tips are welcome—thanks in advance! Happy holidays to all, Philippe
Is Gunsan worth a detour?
by Sinforosa · 2025-12-16 · 10 replies
Hi there,

I’ve heard about the city of Gunsan (on the Yellow Sea coast) and I’m not sure if it’s worth the trip. I’d be using public transport, and it seems like a bit of a trek from Seoul.
Paying in South Korea

Hi there,

Can you easily pay by card in South Korea, or should you stick to cash?

Is it easy to withdraw money from ATMs with any foreign bank card?

I’ve read some conflicting info about this.

Thanks in advance.
South Korea Family Itinerary - Fall 2026
by AmSab · 2025-11-10 · 29 replies
Hello,

We’re planning a 17-day trip to South Korea in October 2026 with my husband and our daughters, who’ll be 9 years old.

I’d love to get your thoughts on our draft itinerary.

First, some key details:

1/ Jeju Island is a must for us. I’ve personally dreamed of going there for years after reading a novel about it. 2/ Our girls are used to road-trip style travel since they were born, so this kind of trip won’t be an issue for them. 3/ We plan to travel by train, except on Jeju where we’ll rent a car (we already have an international driver’s permit).

Itinerary:

Seoul: 1 arrival day at 10 AM + 4 full days Gyeongju: 2 days Busan: 3 days Jeju: 4 days Seoul: 2 days

Thanks for your feedback! Have a great day,

Sabrina
Medical Treatment and Round-the-World Trip
by Ananasas · 2025-10-27 · 4 replies
Hi everyone,

I’m planning to set off on a "round-the-world" trip/long journey at the start of next year, lasting between 4.5 and 6 months. For now, the itinerary looks like this: South Korea (2 weeks) -> Japan (1 month) -> New Zealand (1 month) -> Argentina (1 month) -> United States (1 month).

I’m on medication (paroxetine 20 mg/day) and was hoping to bring enough for the entire trip so I wouldn’t have to find a doctor on the spot, deal with a molecule that might be slightly different from what’s available in France, or wonder if that’s even a possibility. Basically, it seemed simpler on paper...

But after looking into the regulations for each country, it’s suddenly way less simple . Many seem to only allow the amount corresponding to the length of your "stay" in the country... Which is a problem if I arrive in Korea with 4.5 months’ worth of medication, for example.

After all that, and even though I’ll obviously contact the relevant authorities in each country (fingers crossed for a response 😛), here’s my question: Has anyone here had any experience with this? (Even if it’s a different medication or different countries, any input would be helpful!)

Thanks in advance! 😉 Ananasas
Airport bus card for Buenos Aires – city center
by MagetLo80 · 2025-10-27 · 3 replies
Hi there,

I’m planning a trip to Argentina where I’ll be arriving at Buenos Aires EZE airport. I’ve seen that there are buses to the city center, but you need a card to board them. Does anyone know the name of the card, and if so, where can I buy it? Thanks, and have a great day!
SIM card or eSIM with data and phone service in Japan
by Caussat · 2025-10-25 · 4 replies
Hi there,

I haven’t found what I’m looking for despite my searches!

For a 15-day trip next spring, I’d like to buy a card (preferably an eSIM, but a physical SIM is fine too) that also lets me make calls in the country (to contact a hotel, a tourist spot, etc.).

You can easily find options just for data, but I haven’t come across any that include calls, texts, or even MMS. Could you recommend something?

Thanks in advance
Family trip to Sari Solenzara in the summer
by Bevr · 2025-10-23 · 7 replies
Hi,

This summer, we’re planning a family trip to Corsica.

We’ve chosen Sari Solenzara because we want to combine: sea, mountain hikes, natural pools, canyoning, and peace and quiet. Does this choice seem like a good one to you?

Second question: which airport should we prioritize to have the easiest roads to access?

Thanks in advance for your tips! :-)
