Parcours sur la côte Est des Etats-Unis English translation pending
Bonjour à tous,
Nous prévoyons cet été un parcours sur la côte est, qui irait du Maine à la Caroline du sud durant un bon mois. Nous sommes une famille de 5 (3 enfants), et nous comptons en profiter pour bien visiter et nous "imprégner" de NYC. Nous aimons les visites de ville, et les rando à la journée.
A la lecture des différents posts de VF (mais pas si nombreux sur le sujet, surtout comparés à ceux consacrés à l'ouest américain) et du LP, je suis en train de concocter le programme des vacances. Auriez-vous des coups de coeur, des coins à ne pas manquer, ou bien de petites villes, ou au contraire hors des villes, qui passeraient facilement inaperçus à la lecture d'un guide ? Pour l'instant, rien n'est encore fixé de manière définitive, j'en suis à la phase d'exploration...
POur info, nous arriverons et partirons de NY.

Et connaissez vous des circuits qui vous ont marqués (si vous y êtes aller) ou que vous me conseillerez ou me déconseillerez.

The Foam of Days
Now that the curtain has fallen on the past year, it’s time to see what’s happening around here.
It seems pretty quiet, but I’ll read more in detail later.
First, I need to tell you all an anecdote.
My eldest little girl, in her third year of law school, was really scared she wouldn’t pass the year. I told her: “Trust yourself, you’ve worked so hard, and worst case, if you fail, you’ll just redo the year.” “But I don’t think I’ll make it—they changed the rules, and if I mess up even one unit, I have to start all over.” I knew her grades weren’t exactly stellar, and with what I was about to say, I wasn’t taking much of a risk. “Here’s the deal, sweetheart: if you pass, I promise I’ll take you to India, just the two of us.” I have to admit, India is a country I’ve talked about so much to all my grandchildren that in their minds, it’s become a magical, mythical place (hmm).
July had barely begun when my phone rang, her name flashing on the screen. “Mamido, I did it!” My promise came rushing back—oh no, oh no, oh no! “Congratulations, sweetheart!” A little shyly, she said: “Is the India trip still on?”
And me, replying: “Of course it is!”
And that’s that—a promise is a promise, or you risk losing that precious trust that keeps hearts warm and at peace.
We’re leaving in February. Only 8 days—yikes, the carbon footprint! But we can’t miss her tutorials, or she’ll be kicked out. Personally, that works just fine for me.
Going to India has become a challenge for me. It’s far, it’s exhausting, I sweat, I hate mosquitoes, the spices bother my mouth when I used to love them. There’s noise all the time—at night, the dogs bark nonstop, and we almost get run over. I’ll get lost in the streets because my sense of direction has vanished. I don’t like rice anymore. All that chaos and those cultural differences that once enchanted me now just overwhelm me. But I promised.
The upside—and it’s a big one—Raman, the same driver I’ve had forever, will be at the airport with a sign with our names. We’ll stop at the same little shop for chai (or tea, plain and simple) with that aroma that intoxicates me, halfway through the trip.
It’ll be a tiny trip—staying with friends, I’ll show her a few places I love: Chidambaram, Mamallapuram, and the clinic where I worked. Then we’ll head back. My little girl will go home to her parents.
As for me, I’ll leave right away for our Scottish island with Homme for our chilly winter.
How can you love a country so much you want to live there, then suddenly reject it, no longer able to appreciate what once made it special? That’s the mystery of love, I guess.

Pour le coup, je ne sais pas trop, je n'ai eu aucun voyage horrible ou de grosses mésaventures... mes pires voyages sont surtout dûs à la météo, ça gâche un voyage quand il fait vraiment moche, mais bon de là à parler de "pire voyage", pas vraiment...

Mais vos conseil pour mon premier voyage (au costa rica, panama, nicaragua) en sac a dos m'avais vraiment éclaircie les idées.
La je parts dans un tout autre type de voyage, réaliser le rêve de mon père malgré son handicape:
parcourir la route 66 de chicago a las vegas.
Pour cela nous avons prévu 3 semaines. nous atterrissons a Chicago et repartons de los angeles. nous voulons louer une voiture a l’aéroport de chicago et la laisser a los angeles.
Pour le voyage nous pensons faire des étapes de 4h par jour.

je me suis demandé quels étaient en ce moment mes défis, mes satisfactions, mes plaisirs en tant que voyageur-photographe, ou amateur de photos de voyage... Ce qui correspond le mieux:
"Intérieurs"
tant dans le sens concret d'un lieu, que dans celui plus abstrait d'intimité.
Chambres, ruines, palais, cuisines, cases, tentes, je pense d'abord à des domiciles, mais on peut inclure d'autres intérieurs évocateurs, théâtres fantômes, bureaux administratifs interdits, salles communes inusitées. Je suggère des témoignages visuels de vos rencontres, découvertes, lieux inédits, au-delà du spectacle de la rue. Évidemment halls et chambres d'hôtels, musées, lieux d'expositions publiques et autres endroits infiniment faciles d'accès ne devraient pas figurer à notre concours, en principe. Allons vers l'intime, le caché, voire le secret!
Le règlement du Concours est identique aux précédents :
- 3 photos (maximum) par participant, postées chacune dans un message différent. - N’oubliez pas de numéroter vos photos. - Même si les images doivent parler d’elles même, une légende (localisation, contexte, courte présentation …) est toujours appréciable. - On imagine et on souhaite que vous soyez bien l’auteur des photos présentées.
Dépôt des photos jusqu’au jeudi 24 octobre 2013, 16h, heure de Montréal, 22h, heure de Paris (directement en réponse à ce message)
Début des votes à partir du vendredi 25 jusqu’au mercredi 30 octobre, 18h, heure de Montréal, 22h, heure de Paris (toujours directement en réponse au présent message).

Road trip New York - Miami English translation pending
Bonjour, j'ai 27 ans je m'inscris pour la première fois sur le forum car plusieurs fois il m'a aidé dans mes voyages, donc tout d'abord MERCI.
Ensuite je suis ici car mi-Aout je part fair road trip avec ma soeur pour les États-Unis côté Est, de New York à Miami en voiture.
Ayant déjà fait le côté Oest l'anné derniere j'ai kiffé se délire je remet ça. Je voudrais savoir quelle ville a visité en priorité car nous partons 3 semaines et je trouve que cela fait un peu juste pour pouvoir bien en profiter.
En faisant des recherches j'ai déjà pu noter quelque grande ville du genre Atlanta, Chaleston, Orlando mais j'aimerai avoir l'avis de ceux qui l'ont déjà fait et savoir quelle ville a surtout ne pas rater.
Et je pense aussi fair la Nouvelle Orlean en vol interne. Donc savoir si ça en vaut la peine.

Nous commencerons par la N-Z suivi de l'Australie.
Pourriez-vous me dire s'il existe des compagnies aériennes low cost pour rejoindre Adelaide à partir de Wellington ou Auckland ?
Je ne trouve rien sur la toile. Enfin, si mais des vols à 300 € l'aller simple avec 9h de vol/escale... bref, pas très intéressant...
