Salut à tous, Nous arrivons à l'aéroport de Santiago le 24 oct à 11h. J'aimerais décamper de la capitale au plus vite car on aura plus le temps au retour. Donc filer vers le bord de mer dès notre arrivée : idéalement vers Horcon (50km au nord de Vina del Mare) ou alors Los Molles maxi. Bref dans un endroit calme avec de belles plages histoire de se remettre du voyage. Questions : - Est-ce que le trajet vous parait jouable avec 17h d'avion dans les jambes ? (c'est la première fois qu'on part si loin) - Est-ce que vous connaissez des pensions, auberges, bed&b, ou petits hotels sympas dans cette région ? Bonjour tout d'abord à tous les amoureux des voyages...

Le vent me portera peut-être prochainement au Niger (dans la capitale) via une association locale (CaSCO)avec laquelle je suis entrée en contact récemment...ce qui n'est pas pour me déplaire, moi qui n'ai pas quitté la ville française depuis plusieurs années! Mon idée serait de m'engager pour un an, le temps de faire connaissance avec ce pays. N'ayant jamais mis pied sur le sol du Niger ni même de l'Afrique noire, je me pose un certain nombre de questions...

M'attelant à construire mon projet, je recherche en ce moment réponse à des questions d'ordre pratique: à quelle assurance souscrire (pour être la mieux couverte sans payer des sommes astronomiques!)? Qu'en est -il des moyens de communication sur place: le téléphone portable est-il approprié? Quel délai pour le courrier postal? Quelle couverture médicale (certains prétendent qu'il vaut mieux ne pas multiplier les vaccins car certains ne sont pas au point)? Toutes ces interrogations paraissent très autoprotectrices, j'en ai bien conscience...(peut-être que l'expérience en Afrique me fera penser autrement) Je pense aussi qu'un minuimum est nécessaire.

Je reste par ailleurs intéressée par vos témoignages et le vécu qui a été les vôtres dans les pays d'Afrique Noire.

Le centre international de convention de Putrajaya, la capitale administrative de la Malaisie, à une centaine de kilomètres de Kuala Lumpur, est plongé dans un crépuscule artificiel, jeudi matin. Le nuage jaunâtre est provoqué par les immenses feux de défrichement en Indonésie voisine, devenus incontrôlables.

Le gouvernement a déclaré l'état d'urgence sur l'ensemble de la vallée de Klang, où se situe la capitale, Kuala Lumpur. Ce plan prévoit notamment le déclenchement de pluies artificielles pour disperser les fumées irrespirables.

Depuis une semaine, la capitale malaisienne suffoque. Le sommet des immeubles a disparu. Les gens se sont rués sur les masques de papier dans les pharmacies qui, en rupture de stocks, limitent les ventes à quelques unités par personne. Les habitants ont d'ailleurs été invités à rester chez eux.

Le second aéroport de Kuala Lumpur, Subang, a été fermé après que la visibilité soit tombée à 300 m. Des plans d'urgence ont été mis en place au cas où l'aéroport principal devrait à son tour interrompre le trafic. Le nuage de fumée perturbe également la navigation dans le détroit de Malacca, qui sépare Sumatra de la péninsule malaisienne et par où transite un tiers du commerce mondial.

La Malaisie n'avait pas connu une telle situation depuis huit ans. En 1997 et 1998, des incendies similaires avaient obscurci le ciel d'une partie de l'Asie du Sud-Est pendant des mois, provoquant de nombreuse perturbations. Les pertes économiques avaient été estimées à 9, 3 milliards de dollars.

Je viens de finir ma préparation de mon voyage asiatique mais je me rends compte que j'ai oublié une chose assez capitale si on ne veux pas passer une nuit dans les rues moscovites.

J'arrive le 29 août à Moscou et je prends le transibérien le lendemain. J'ai oublié de réfléchir à l'endroit où je pourrais dormir en arrivant dans la capitale russe. Je fais donc un voyage de six à sept mois en Asie et mon budget journalier est asse serré.

Je cherche un hôtel, une guesthouse, un lit pas trop cher à Moscou et si possible près de la gare de transsibérien pour un départ matinal. Donc merci à ceux qui pourront me renseigner.😏

Bon, par rapport à d'autres, j'ai visité trés peu de pays, je connais bien bien bien les Etats-Unis où j'ai du y passer en cumulé plus d'un an et demi de ma vie, un tout petit peu le Canada, Londres, les Pays-Bas, la Belgique, l'Espagne, l'Irlande. C'est pas grand chose mais je serai content de rencontrer d'autres personnes ayant également eu un vécu à l'étranger. 😉

Pour ceux qui sont au Perou, je conseille a partir du 15-16 fevrier le carnaval de Cajamarca, capitale du departement eponyme, au nord du pays. Un des plus colores et des plus festifs du Perou. A voir et a faire, de plus la ville est tres belle et durant la periode de carnaval est remplie de monde. C est le fete du soir au matin. Regalez vous. A +

Our loop itinerary will take us from the capital to the coast (Sandwich Harbor, Swakopmund, etc.), the Damaraland (Spitzkoppe, Brandberg, Twyfelfontein, etc.), Etosha, the local vineyards, and Waterberg. Expect visits, hikes, and safaris. We’ll camp every other night and travel in my own 4x4. I live there, by the way, and know the country like the back of my hand. It never gets old! India inaugurates the new Navi Mumbai International Airport and the final phase of Mumbai’s Metro Line 3—a major turning point for the country’s infrastructure. Mumbai, India’s economic capital, is entering a new era of modernization. The Indian government has officially inaugurated the Navi Mumbai International Airport, one of the country’s most ambitious infrastructure projects, along with the final phase of Metro Line 3, a key axis to ease congestion in the megacity. The Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA), located about 35 km from the city center, aims to eventually handle up to 60 million passengers per year. Built to reduce pressure on the already saturated Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Airport, it features ultra-modern facilities, sustainable design, and cutting-edge technologies for air traffic management and energy efficiency. At the same time, the completion of Mumbai’s Metro Line 3, connecting Colaba to Bandra-SEEPZ, marks a major advancement in urban mobility. This 33.5 km underground section will significantly reduce travel time and congestion in a city known for its chronic traffic jams. These two projects reflect the Indian government’s commitment to transforming Mumbai into a global hub, combining connectivity, sustainability, and economic development.

The Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA), a project two decades in the making, has finally come to fruition. Phase one of the airport was inaugurated Wednesday by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar. Although the first phase, which includes Terminal 1 and Runway 1 with 10 bus gates and 29 aero bridges, has been inaugurated, flight operations will not begin immediately.

"Post-inauguration, the airport will be handed over to the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) for a security sweep, which could take 30 to 45 days. We also need to mobilize customs and immigration teams and complete end-to-end testing, which is a 45-60-day process," said Arun Bansal, CEO of Adani Airports Holdings Ltd, developer and operator of the NMIA, during a press briefing at the NMIA premises Monday. Even though an exact date hasn’t been announced, NMIA CEO Captain B V J K Sharma and Bansal said commercial flights are expected to begin in December 2025. Plans of major carriers Three major airlines—Air India, Akasa Air, and IndiGo—have already signed on to shift part of their operations to NMIA. Last month, Air India announced plans to start with 20 daily departures (40 air traffic movements) through Air India Express, connecting 15 Indian cities in the first phase. By mid-2026, it aims to scale up to 55 daily departures, including up to five international flights. IndiGo, which made its announcement in May, plans to operate 18 daily flights to more than 15 cities from the first day of commercial operations and intends to expand to 140 daily flights—30 of which will be international—within 18 months. In June, Akasa Air said it will start with 15 daily domestic flights, scaling up to over 300 domestic and 50 international flights a week within a few months. When asked which airline will operate the first flight, Bansal said, "We want all three airlines to be there on Day 1. It depends on who has the earliest slot that day, and the destination choice lies entirely with the airlines." Operations to begin with 12-hour window In the first month, flights will operate between 8 am and 8 pm, with the 12-hour window likely to be extended as operations stabilize. Although NMIA’s full capacity is 40 air traffic movements (ATMs) per hour, the initial phase will handle 10 ATMs—allowing 10 aircraft to land or take off every hour. Airlines are expected to announce routes and ticket sales soon. Touted as an international aviation hub, NMIA positions Mumbai alongside global twin-airport cities such as London, Dubai, and New York, and plans to launch both domestic and international operations from Day 1. Concession for international carriers When asked if international carriers will be given any concessions, Bansal said, "For international airlines, we will not charge them parking fees for the first year." The duo added that NMIA aims to reclaim Mumbai’s rightful place on the global aviation map. "For a decade… travelers didn’t have a choice—airlines couldn’t get additional slots (at the Mumbai airport), so traffic shifted to Delhi. We are course-correcting that with NMIA. It won’t happen overnight, but over the next five–seven years, you’ll see the change," said Bansal. He noted that Mumbai currently lacks direct flights to major destinations in Europe and the U.S., something NMIA hopes to change. "If you see east-to-west flights, Mumbai is a natural stop," added Sharma. As reported earlier, NMIA will eventually feature four terminals and two parallel runways, with a total capacity to handle up to 90 million passengers per annum (MPPA), compared to 20 MPPA in the first phase. In the long term, the airport aims to serve as a key transfer hub between the East and the West, enabling passengers from Southeast Asia to connect seamlessly to Europe and North America.

Hi there, After making good use of the tips on this site, I’m now adding my own contribution. We’ve just returned from 25 days exploring Mongolia. A trip that took us from the capital to the Gobi Desert, from the ancient capital Karakhorum to the Orkhon Valley, and also off the beaten path to places close to nature and nomadic life, all thanks to our guide Hacha. I’m used to traveling as a couple or solo, in "backpacker" mode, and I rarely—or only occasionally—hire a guide. But this time, I have to admit that choosing a guide-interpreter and a driver was an excellent idea. We set off as a group of four to share the costs. I’d spoken with Hacha, a Mongolian who used to work at the French Alliance, speaks perfect French, and has been organizing trips for over 25 years. Needless to say, she knows her job inside out and has built strong relationships with nomadic families over the years. Since she only works with small groups, she can steer clear of the main tourist spots. With her help, we were able to personalize our itinerary—and even adjust it as we went along. For example, we’d planned to attend the Naadam festival in a small town, but we found out there was another festival two days later that wasn’t on the schedule. I just got back from an unforgettable road trip in Madagascar where I drove down the legendary RN7. It connects Tana (the capital) to Tulear. Friday, April 18 Night in Guwahati Before leaving the guesthouse, I drop off a small bag that I’ll pick up when I return. I take a tuk-tuk at 7:40 AM to get to the sumo departure point for Shillong, the capital of Meghalaya. My bag is loaded onto the roof, my seat is assigned, and we have to wait for the car to fill up.



While waiting, I watch the street come to life. I have fun photographing the different modes of transport passing by.









Time passes faster when you’re occupied. We leave at 8:20 AM, and the driver does door-to-door service along the way. We make our first stop for 25 minutes at 9:10 AM, then another for breakfast at 10:10 AM. The scenery is very different from Assam and Nagaland. We drive alongside a pine forest and a large lake. There are beautiful viewpoints, but the driver isn’t stopping for sightseeing, so I have to settle for looking through the car windows.

We finally arrive in Shillong at 11:45 AM. The driver stops in the middle of nowhere, so I have to walk up the street to find a taxi. I flag one down, and he agrees to take me to my new guesthouse, the Rockski Boutique Bed & Breakfast. No sooner do I arrive than a storm with a heavy downpour welcomes me. When I arrived in Guwahati at the end of October, I’d booked a guide with a car for this week. There’s no public transport to get from village to village, so I had to take a car to visit. The tourism manager, Sachin, sent me a message to let me know that the driver, Welbis, will pick me up tomorrow morning at 8 AM. The temperature is much cooler here—only 19°C. At 2:30 PM, the rain stops, and I take the opportunity to explore the city. I start with the cathedral. Today is Good Friday, so I’m going to see how it’s celebrated here. Meghalaya is a Catholic state. The cathedral isn’t far from the guesthouse—it’s huge and all blue.



I arrive during mass, and it’s impossible to enter—the faithful are numerous outside in the parking lot. Giant screens broadcast the ceremony.

I'd love to get some suggestions for central Vietnam in February for seniors. We'd like to stay in one place, near a beach, and visit the surrounding areas. Then after a month, we'd head to the south of the country.

Hi there, I’d planned to visit Cathedral Valley, Goblin Valley, the Burr Trail/Northom loop, Factory Butte, and Moonscape Overlook, as well as the Capitol Reef scenic route over three days. The scenic Highway 12 would be for the following days.

Since I rented an AWD SUV, I was planning to contact an outfitter for Cathedral Valley, but they suggested that instead of doing Cathedral Valley with them and the rest solo, they could take me to the four most relevant sites mentioned in the title. Their plan is to start at sunrise at either Temples of the Sun/Moon or Moonscape Overlook and then hit the other three afterward. What do you think? Thanks! Louis
