Je compte partir (si ma peur de l'avion ne l'emporte pas !) en Argentine début septembre jusqu'au mois de novembre. Je rejoins des copains là bas qui partent pour skier. Une fois rejoins, on va se mettre en route pour s'en mettre plein la vue ! Argentine, Pérou...Quels sont les bons plans niveau hébergements, visites...etc. Si vous avez des trucs à faire partager n'hésitez pas.

Bonjour à tous! Je pars pour ce moi d'août en Algérie avec 2 copains et nous seront donc 3 jeunes. Nous voulons voir du pays, differents horizons autant le littoral que les montagnes et le désert seulement nous savons où dormir seulement sur constantine, Skikda et Alger. Pouvez vous me conseiller des villes autant littoralles que traditionnelles ou désertique et surtout des endroits où dormir comme des auberges ou des hotel pas trop chers afin de profiter un maximum de ce voyage. Nous n'avons pas encore choisi notre point de chute à Bangkok. Pour se déplacer à Bangkok est ce qu'il vaut mieux le skitrain ou le métro ? Peut-on passer de l'un à l'autre facilement. Ensuite quel est le meilleur quartier (+ de restaurant, + de commerce et proche des marchés de nuit) Vaut-il mieux Silom, siam square ou sukhumvit ? Merci si quelqu'un a des détails sur chaques quartiers.

ça y est le billet en poche pour l'argentine, j'ai en effet l'intention de me diriger vers les stations de skis, mais pour je ne sais quelle raison, j'ai choisi d'arriver a buenos aires pour ensuite faire le reste du trajet en bus ou autre......ayant tout mon temps et rien qui presse une fois sur place auriez vous des bonnes adresses sur B.A (chambres, bars.....)ou autres bonnes agapes pour que mon passage n'en soit que joie et bonne humeur....!!!!!!🤪"ce n'est pas parce que c'est difficile que nous n'osons pas, c'est parce que nous n'osons pas que c'est difficile"

Sachant que l'on doit amener des skis et tout le matos qui va avec... Pensez vous que 2 paires de skis par personne peuvent passer? Ou 1 seul ne passera déjà peut être pas?

nous habitons à la réunion, et pour être bien dépaysés nous pensons à un voyage de 15 jours en laponie finlandaise entre fin déc 2006 et mi janvier 2007 ? y a -t il un moyen d' y aller sans passer par nelles frontières ? en individuel ? peut-on skier, faire de la moto neige etc ... à cette période de l'année ? il fait nuit, non? toutes les remarques et suggestions seront les bienvenues.

j'aurai besoin de quelques petites infos pour la tchéquie : quand partir : j'suis invité par un pote d'Oloumouc et j'me pôse la question de la période (sans tarder car y'a de la neige mais peut on skier, est ce pas trop chaint pour circuler !! ou attendre le printemps ???) avec quelle compagnie : ou c'est le moins cher pour les billets d'avion ? qu'y a t il a ne pas rater en tchéquie ?

On est à Rio Gallegos en attendant notre bus pour Ushuaia. Ca nous laisse un peu de temps pour méditer la terre de feu avant de la toucher pour de vrai!

On monterait bien sur un de ces gros brises glaces russes ou ukrainiens qui vous emmènent vers la banquise de la péninsule antarctique (on renonce d'entrée aux propositions des quelques skippers francais echoués à Ushuaia qui vous proposent le grand saut à bord de leur voilier : 30 jours de mer hauturière dans les 40èmes rugissants), histoire de ressentir le froid de ces latitudes, voir les icebergs et rigoler en voyant les manchots faire du tobogan sur la glace. En parcourant le net, on trouve pas mal de croisiéristes, anglo-saxons notamment, qui proposent des tours de 10-12 jours. Les tarifs sont prohibitifs, au moins 4 000 USD. Mais on se dit qu'en se pointant la bouche en coeur à Ushuaia, la veille du départ d'un bateau on pourrait peut être négocier des tarifs cassés? Avez-vous eu des expériences similaires? Recommendez-vous certaines compagnies?

Hello everyone, My husband and I are planning our honeymoon in Tanzania, hoping to go on a safari and spend a few days in Zanzibar, or even on Mafia Island. We’d like to work with a local agency, both for financial reasons and because we usually travel backpacker-style, adapting activities as we go. Apparently, for safaris, it’s better to plan a bit ahead. We’re thinking of going in September–October 2026. My mother has health issues that could worsen, so I’d like to have a backup plan in case I need to cancel at the last minute. Do you know if credit card insurance covers trips booked with local agencies? Or is there another way to insure it? Have any of you had to cancel a trip last-minute for personal reasons? I’m planning my next trip outside Europe for next year, but unfortunately, I don’t have a choice with the dates—it’s late June to early July. Last year, I went to Japan for three weeks, and it was constantly 36-37°C with over 90% humidity. It wasn’t easy, but it wasn’t impossible either.

For Egypt, I know it’s a period to avoid if possible, but I’m thinking that by the sea, it might be manageable. Otherwise, I’ll consider another destination.

Day 1: Arrival in Hurghada in the evening Day 2, 3, 4: Hurghada Day 5: Hurghada, then drive to Luxor in the early afternoon Day 6: Luxor Day 7: Luxor, then drive back to Hurghada in the late afternoon Day 8, 9, 10, 11: Hurghada Day 12: Return flight

For the Hurghada trip, either rent a car or—easier—a private car/van. Is it worth adding an extra day in Luxor?

During the stay, we’re planning activities like camel rides, quad biking, jeep tours, snorkeling, and jet skiing.

Hello, We’re heading to Finnish Lapland near Rovaniemi as a family at the end of February with two kids (8 and 14 years old). We’ve got direct flights with Luxairstours. The itinerary is already set, but I’m wondering if anyone has traveled with Luxair before and knows exactly what kind of clothes they provide on the second day? The agency just told me it’s a heavy-duty cold-weather suit. I’m thinking we should get Sorel Caribou boots, maybe second-hand. Here’s what I’ve already planned: - Thermolactyl leggings and tights from Damart for the whole family as a base layer. - A first layer of Damart socks + Nordic Stocks socks in 70% merino wool for all four of us. - Loose fleece layers, including some Polartec. - Ski pants for hikes. - For my son and me, a The North Face Himalayan down parka with a hood. - A ski parka for my husband and my 14-year-old daughter (she *really* wants a Roxy one—I hope it’ll be warm enough). - For myself, for the flight and the first day at Santa’s village, I’ve packed The North Face winter hiking pants, a long-sleeve merino wool top from Decathlon (thin), a fleece, and my big parka.

I’m wondering if I should just pack fleece joggers or sweatpants for the kids and my husband, at least for the first and last days, to be comfortable on the plane? I’m also planning to buy balaclavas and neck warmers in addition to our beanies, as well as mittens for all of us. I really need advice because I have no idea—I’ve never been skiing! Also, for a 4-night, 5-day trip, should I pack a second set of base layers, like from Odlo?

Of course, I’ll be leaving cotton clothes out of the suitcase.

As you can tell, I’m someone who gets cold easily—especially my feet, hands, and ears—so that’s my biggest worry. I *don’t* want to be cold, even at -20°C during dog sledding, snowmobiling, or aurora hunting when we might be standing still. We won’t be in the city, and the kids will likely spend most of their time outside, as they usually do.

Let me introduce us quickly—I’m Matteo (21, originally from Paris, but I’ve been living near the Pyrenees and the Alps for the past 3 years), and my girlfriend Justine (21, grew up in the Alps). We’re starting to get really fed up with being cooped up and sitting in chairs (yep, we’re studying physics and geography at the École Normale Supérieure in Lyon). So, we’re taking a gap year to make a slightly crazy project happen: hitting the road, meeting people, and most importantly—climbing, skiing, and exploring the mountains!

We’ve always been into the mountains: •🧗‍♂️ 6c-7a/b sport climbing, 6b trad •❄️ Skiing and ice climbing (grade 4/5) •🏔️ Alpine climbing in the Alps (Chamonix, Écrins…) and the Pyrenees—I’m training to become a High Mountain Guide

Our project in a nutshell: •Buying a van (or 4x4) converted in British Columbia around September/October 2025. Ideally, we’d go straight to the US to buy the vehicle there (but reselling might be easier if we buy in Canada). •Heading down to the US to climb at legendary spots like Yosemite, Tuolumne (if it’s too hot), Indian Creek, Moab, and Joshua Tree. •Heading back up to the Canadian Rockies around December for skiing, ice climbing, and winter alpine climbing (might be easier to buy skis there). •Selling the vehicle in Canada at the end of the trip (we need to be back in France by early March 2026 because Justine is preparing for the AMM). I’ve already been to the Rockies, but I want to go back in winter for ice climbing. It’ll probably be too cold to sleep in the van, so we’re hoping to find a small cabin, lodge, or chalet (ideally alone or shared to cut costs). Otherwise, we could work for a month or two at a hostel or something to get free accommodation and earn money to rent a place another month just for climbing. •Visa-wise: we’re hoping to get our Working Holiday Visa (WHV) (still waiting for a response) so we can work there during the trip. For the US, we’ll stay as tourists (no work visa—too complicated and expensive). Any feedback on the WHV or differences from a regular work visa would be great. •With our savings (we’re working in mountain huts this summer), we should be able to buy the van. For daily expenses, I’m hoping to tutor online (math and physics). We live pretty simply and resourcefully: we plan to sleep mostly in the van, cook for ourselves, wash in rivers, and make the most of free nature spots. We’re super motivated, pretty well-rounded when it comes to mountain sports, and we’re not afraid to live simply for a year (we’ve got other projects too: biking to Greece with our climbing gear, a trip to Patagonia for alpine climbing).

Questions and advice: Of course, a road trip like this raises a lot of practical questions. This is our first time embarking on an adventure of this scale, so we’d love to hear your experiences and tips. If any of you have done a long van trip in North America or a WHV in Canada, your insights would be incredibly helpful! Here are some of the questions we’ve got: How do we buy (and later sell) a converted van in British Columbia? We’ll probably land in Vancouver. Is it better to look for a vehicle on online classifieds, Facebook groups, or used car dealerships? Are there any pitfalls to avoid when buying? And for selling it a year later, any tips to make it go smoothly (best time to sell, paperwork, etc.)? What budget should we plan for van life in North America and Canada? If you’ve got any info or feedback on the cost of living in a van in Canada/the US, we’d love to hear it. We’re thinking about expenses like gas (a big one, I imagine!), van maintenance, car insurance, possible tolls, campgrounds or paid spots, etc. We’d like to get an idea of a daily or monthly budget so we’re not too tight. In France, we never stay at campgrounds—we prefer being alone or going where we want. Is that possible in the US and Canada? Any tips for saving money (free camping spots, useful apps…) would be great! Visas, borders, and paperwork: We’re hoping to get a WHV for Canada, but in the US, we’ll be on a tourist visa (90 days max with ESTA, I think). Has anyone combined a WHV in Canada with a trip to the US on the same trip? Anything we should know about crossing the border in a van (insurance, customs, how long we’re allowed in the US, etc.)? We want to avoid any administrative hassles, so any advice on this would be super helpful. Route and seasonality for climbing and skiing: We’re thinking of starting climbing in the US around fall 2025 (probably September/October). Is that the right season for Yosemite, Indian Creek, and Moab? Any must-see spots along the way? For winter, we’re aiming for December to March in the Canadian Rockies (Banff, Jasper, Golden…) for skiing and ice climbing. Any tips on ice climbs or major backcountry skiing spots? We’ve got all our climbing, skiing, and alpine gear—should we bring it all or buy some stuff there? Is the “Wilderness Season Pass” for winter in the Rockies worth it? We came across this pass that offers 7 months of unlimited nights in HI mountain hostels in the Rockies. Has anyone here tried it? Are the dorms usually crowded? Working on the road: To fund the trip, we’re planning to work a bit along the way. Any tips for finding work in Canada while traveling (peak seasons at ski resorts, WWOOFing, odd jobs…)? That’s it for our (many) questions 😅! If you’ve done a similar trip—or even just parts of it (van life, climbing tour, winter in Canada…)—we’d love to hear your experiences, or even if you’re in the area and want to share a few days of climbing.
