Bonjour et bonne année à tous !

Nous avons 2 garçons de 7 et 8 ans.

Nous essayons de passer des vacances qui plaisent à toute la famille (c'est à dire : plage et châteaux de sable pour les enfants, et découverte d'un pays, aventure et culture pour nous parents). Pour cette raison, nous avons utilisé jusqu'à présent la formule "hotel-club + excursions organisées par l'hôtel".

Nous sommes allés de cette façon : en Corse (bien), Tunisie (très bien), Sénégal (très très bien), Ténérife (beurk), Majorque (très beurk !), Turquie (très bien).

J'avoue qu'en tant qu'anciens voyageurs, nous commençons à saturer sérieusement !... D'autant que la majorité de la clientèle de ces hôtels-clubs ne nous ressemble pas. Nous ne sommes pas du tout du genre "bronzette à la plage-cocktail près de la piscine"...

J'ai sûrement été (trop) longue mais je souhaitais me situer.

Nous envisageons de partir en Grèce tous les 4, fin juillet ou début Août.

Je me pose quelques questions :

Faut-il réserver d'avance les hôtels (style : autotour proposé par les voyagistes) ou peut-on n'acheter que les billets d'avion et chercher des hébergements sur place (nous aimons changer d'endroit) ?

Les jeux olympiques à Athènes ne vont-il pas être génants (je n'envisage pas de visiter Athènes que je connais déjà) ? Dans l'affirmative, je pense que je me dirigerai peut-être plutôt vers la Crète. Mais j'ai l'impression que la Crète doit être moins jolie.

Ne fait-il pas trop chaud à cette époque ?

Bonjours, quelque peut-il me dire la différence entre les pages Varadero ou Gardalavaca a Cuba et Punta cana ou Bahaiba en rd. La couleur de l'eau, le sable, les palmiers etc

est ce quelqun peux m aider ? je cherche un hotel a l ile Maurice ou je puisse partir de la plage en PMT (palme masque tuba) avec mes enfants pour observer le recif : donc un endroit ou l eau est claire (pas comme le lagon de Grand Gaube), ou il n y ai pas que du sable, ou les courants soient moderes, et pas envahis par les engins rapides (jet ski, bateaux, funboard...).

Est que le Morne est bien ? le recif a l air assez loin du bord et j ai lu que le courant y etait fort...

Il vaux mieux remonter un peu sur la cote ouest ?

Je connais deja le nord, donc je prefererais la cote sud ou ouest.

S'IL vous plait aidez moi, je cherche un hôtel en république dominicain, voici les critères recherchés: plage planes où l'on peut faire de longues marches, sable fin, eau turquoise, jolies chambres pas trop vieilles avec aucune odeur du style moisie car j'y suis allergique, avec mini bar, bonne bouffe diversifiée, boisson internationales, et surtout pas trop de marche à faire ou avec navette sur le site s'il est très grand. De plus je ne voudrais pas payé plus de 1599$ canadien par personne pour 7 jours...

Bonjour! Nous prévoyons aller à Cuba vers la fin de l'été. Nous voudrions avoir des commentaires concernant Cayo Largo (surtout le Sol Cayo Largo) et Cayo Guillermo. Plage (sable et vagues), bouffe, propreté, etc. Est-ce qu'il y a quelque chose à voir autour de l'hôtel? Nous pensions aussi à Playa Pesquero à Guardalavaca. Est-ce que la plage est vraiment moche? Un silence lourd, presque solide... un silence qui vous entoure et vous envahie...c'est un liquide dans lequel on peut respirer, sans crainte... je suis comme sur le fond d'un océan, couché sur sur le sable, dans une apnée délirante où l'on redevient poisson...animal en rapport direct avec les forces essentielles, en dehors du temps. Il vous met à nu, oubliant un instant tout ce que l'on m'a enseigné, tout ce qui fait de l'homme un homme... j'ai découvert ce soir le silence en tant qu'élément, quand la paix et le calme me manqueront, je serai faire appel à lui, dans mon souvenir de cette nuit passée dans l'Erg Chebbi.

Hi everyone!

I wanted to share my experience from the trip I had this summer in Mongolia, in case it helps anyone get their bearings—I also relied a lot on forums myself.

We went as a couple with a French-speaking guide, Hacha, for a 17-day trek through the steppes and the Gobi Desert.

The experience was amazing—the landscapes are truly diverse and stunning. We started with a quick visit to Ulaanbaatar, then headed into the steppes for half the trip, including the Orkhon Valley, before moving on to the desert, which isn’t just sand but has incredibly varied scenery.

We traveled with Hacha, who has been a guide for 27 years and knows Mongolia inside out. She was accompanied by her daughter (with our consent). Hacha teaches French the rest of the year and speaks it perfectly. Her kindness and humor were much appreciated, and she’s become a friend. She prepared delicious homemade meals throughout the trip, adapted to European tastes since she’s used to it. We also had a driver who was really friendly and professional.

I injured myself on the way there with a sprained ankle, and Hacha immediately adjusted the pace and some activities to accommodate my injury, as well as booking more comfortable lodgings for the first few nights. She didn’t tell us it cost her extra, and we only found out later—we chose to pay a supplement, but she never asked for anything. Hacha was very fair with money, and her rates seem a bit lower than what we’d found elsewhere. She also tailors the program to the budget we gave her, and we had the option to adjust accommodations to fit our budget.

As for lodging, we stayed in tourist yurt camps (more comfortable with restaurants, showers, etc.), guest yurts, nights with nomadic families, and a few nights in tents. Our most memorable experience was two nights with nomads who welcomed us warmly, even though it was only the second time they’d hosted tourists. They shared their traditions with us, and the location was beautiful—right by a lake.

Hacha also adapted to our last-minute requests. For example, I mentioned wanting to see a shaman, which was tricky since it wasn’t planned in advance (my fault for not bringing it up earlier), but she used her contacts to see if there was a possibility. Unfortunately, no shamans were available, but we spontaneously stopped by the family of a young shaman during one of our trips. She wasn’t there, but we got to hear her parents’ stories and ask questions about the rituals to become a shaman and their experiences. It was a rare and unique moment I won’t forget!

We’ll definitely return to Mongolia as a family to explore less touristy regions (though we weren’t really bothered by tourism), as Hacha offers other off-the-beaten-path itineraries, including one that visits a turquoise lake surrounded by sand dunes—which sounds incredible, according to her.

I highly recommend Mongolia to anyone looking for an authentic trip that pushes you slightly out of your comfort zone while still feeling safe and enjoying breathtakingly diverse landscapes. And I 100% recommend Hacha—she created a personalized trip based on our requests and adapted to our needs and wishes on the spot!

Family of 4—2 adults and 2 kids (11 and 15) who are well-traveled. We’re planning a 15-day trip to Indonesia and would love your thoughts on our itinerary. We love discovering local culture, food (!!), seeing beautiful landscapes, and keeping an active pace. We’re not the type to lounge on the beach for 5 hours or spend ages by the pool when we’re halfway across the world. Also, we try to avoid places "ruined" by mass tourism (like Holbox in Mexico, which we loved 10 years ago but not at all on our last visit, or Phi Phi in Thailand, completely destroyed by mass tourism).

Special note: we love traveling by train :)

Here’s what we’ve planned so far:

**Day 1** Arrival in Jakarta, then domestic flight to Yogyakarta. Settle in Yogyakarta.

**Day 2** Borobudur in the morning, then exploring nearby villages.

**Day 3** Prambanan in the morning, followed by culinary discovery / market / local vibe in Yogyakarta.

**Day 4** Train to Jombang, then driver/bus to the Bromo area. Overnight stay.

**Day 5** Sunrise at Bromo, exploring the volcano and sea of sand. Relax in the afternoon.

**Day 6** Travel to eastern Java, then train, ferry, and road to reach Sidemen in Bali.

**Day 7** Sidemen

**Day 8** Sidemen

**Day 9** Sidemen

**Day 10** Transfer to Gili Air (car to the port + fast boat?)

**Day 11** Gili Air

**Day 12** Gili Air

**Day 13** Transfer to Ubud

**Day 14** Ubud

**Day 15** Return to Bali airport, flight to Jakarta, then international flight.

Does this itinerary seem coherent for a family? Does it feel too packed or well-balanced? Would you make any changes to certain stops, durations, or transfers?

Hi there, I'm planning a 4x4 road trip from Darwin to Broome with a rooftop tent in July 2026. I'd like to know if I need to book overnight stops in advance or if I can just wing it and stop wherever I feel like it? Some evenings, we'd like to stop and make use of campsite facilities (restaurant, shop, showers, toilets). What do you recommend? Do I need a permit?

Hi, For those who’ve driven on Iceland’s gravel roads in their own or a rented Duster, could you tell me what tires were fitted on the vehicle? Were they All Terrain tires or more "standard" ones like all-season tires, for example?

We’re planning a 13-day family road trip in Morocco this July, with six people in a Toyota Prado 4x4 (renting in Marrakech). We’ll alternate between bivouacking and small hotels/riads depending on the stops.

Here’s the planned route (in this order):

Marrakech → Ouarzazate → Draa Valley → Zagora → Erg Chegaga → Lake Iriki → Foum Zguid → Tata → Tafraoute → Aït Mansour → Tiznit → Mirleft → Taroudant → Back to Marrakech

Our goal:

Atlas Mountains + desert + dunes + plateaus + valleys + a bit of coastline. We’ll cover about 1,700 km in total.

We’re planning:

Bivouacking in the Chegaga/Iriki area Flexible for the rest (booking the day before or same day) Sand gear: traction plates, compressor, tow strap, roof rack

Questions:

Is the Zagora → Chegaga → Iriki → Foum Zguid crossing in July doable on our own (single vehicle, no guide)? Are there any truly technical or risky sections between Chegaga and Iriki? Does the overall itinerary seem manageable in 13 days without rushing? Any suggestions for great bivouac spots or particularly interesting stops along this route? The points on the route are provisional overnight stops. Some spots will include two nights in the same area.

I’d love to spend a week in July on a Greek island with my 8-year-old son. I’m totally in love with Amorgos, but not all the beaches are accessible for him. I’ve been to Santorini and Naxos before and don’t want to go back. Would you have an island to recommend that’s not too crowded 😕, with a few accessible beaches and where we won’t have to fight to get around or park?
