J'avais lu sur le forum au mois de septembre que quelqu'un avait l'air de dire que cette taxe on l'a payait pas quand on voyageait sur air france.

Nous sommes rentrés hier de punta cana et nous avions mis de côté 80 dollars puisque nous étions 4 personnes.

Lorsque nous sommes passés pour les cartes de sorties de territoire le douanier a réclamé à mon mari :

billets, billets

mon mari a pensé qu'il s'agissait des billets d'avion et les a montrés au douanier qui a dit non taxes, taxes. Mon mari lui a fait voir qu'on était sur un vol air france, ( mon mari a tenté le coup car nous n'étions pas très surs)

et cela a marché le douanier s'est excusé et nous a laissé passer sans payer.

Des gens que nous avions connus la bas et qui étaient passes avant nous ont payes, quand on les a retrouve en salle d'embarquement et que nous leur avons expliqués le monsieur est reparti voir le douanier et apres au moins une demi heure de discussion a récupéré ses 60 dollars puiqu'ils étaient trois.

QUE DIRE DE TOUT CA

C'est du vol manifeste les vacanciers ne sont pas au courant que c'est compris dans le billet air france et pensez que sur le vol air france 747 sur 500 places combien de personnes ont payé cette taxe en especes c'est tout benef pour le douanier. si vous avez des questions n'hésitez pas

Marsans annonce un départ en République Dominicaine au départ de Marseille en Janvier avec CORSAIR. Après vérification sur le site de l'aéroport Marseille Provence il s'agit de la compagnie AIR ATLANTA. Est-ce que vous avez des infos sur cette compagnie que je ne connais pas.

Nous avons nos billets d'avion pour le Caire pour le 24 octbre prochain. Le retour est prévu le 3 novembre, soit une bonne grosse semaine.

Aprés être allés dans le sud l'an dernier (Assouan, Louxor, felouque...) avec Club Aventure, nous repartons cette année par nos propres moyens avec nos 3 enfants de 15, 13 et 9 ans.

Nous voudrions explorer les environs du Caire, sans dégouter à vie les enfants des antiquités egyptiennes par overdose de musées et partir dans le Sinai (monastere Sainte Catherine, Mer Rouge ???) de préference à l'ecart des sentiers battus.

Quels sont les moyens de transport dans ce secteur? Peut on par exemple trouver au Caire des locations de voitures avec chauffeur ? Existe t il des possibilités de monter sur un cargo pour faire une partie du canal de Suez ?

Autre détail pratique . A-t-on interêt à prendre de chèques de voyage style Traveller ( en euros ou en dollars) et pourra-t-on les changer facilement en dehors du Caire?

Je souhaite reserver un week end a londres sur lastminute.com, j'ai trouvée une offre qui me parais tres interessante : eurostar aller/retour + 2 nuits d'hotel 3* avec petits dejeuner dans la city de Londres pour 188 euros par pers. 😎

Mais je n'ose pas encore reserver car cela ne me parait pas cher, j'ai peur de me faire avoir en passant par une agence en ligne. 😕

Ca y est, nous partons en couple pour un tour de 9 mois en Amérique Latine. Après avoir retourné la carte du continent dans tous les sens pendant plusieurs semaines, imaginer tous les parcours possibles en fonction des saisons, des choses à voir sur place et du prix des billets d'avion, nous sommes arrivés au parcours suivant. Je vous le soumets afin que vous puissiez me donner votre avis, notamment savoir si on s'est pas trop planté pour les climats et le temps accordé à chaque région :

Vol Paris-Quito vers la mi-septembre

Equateur : mi-septembre/mi-octobre

Pérou : mi-octobre/mi-novembre

Pour cela, on a trouvé chez connaiseurs du voyage un vol Paris-Quito//Caracas-La Havane-Paris valable 1 an pour environ 1800 €. C'est assez chero, mais visiblement c'est le prix à payer pour des billets longue durée un peu tordus. On fera également des petits sauts de puce en avion sur place si le budget le permet.

Qu'en pensez-vous?

Quelles sont les trajets qu'on peut effectuer en avion sur place sans trop plmober son budget et dénaturer l'esprit du voyage qui est d'utiliser un max les transports locaux?

Ca c'est l'étape 1 : l'itinéraire. Il y en aura bien d'autres d'ici le départ. en espérant pouvoir compter sur vos conseils avisés.

Je compte me rende en Amérique du sud (via le Brésil) à partir de Juin pour une durée indéterminée (6, 9, 12 mois voir plus) et passer de pays en pays par des frontières terrestres. Le consulat du Brésil me dit que je ne peux entrer sans billet retour ou de continuation. Le truc est que je ne sais pas qd je vais revenir et que je ne compte pas passer en Argentine par avion. Connaissez vous un moyen d'acheter un aller simple, ou un retour avec une date super open mais pas hors de prix. Y'a bien un truc non ? je suis pas le premier dans ce cas.

Un voyage en vélo des Alpes à la Méditerranée il y a quelques années m'a fait entrevoir le bonheur et les possibilités de ce mode de déplacement: gratuit, indépendance totale( bon...faut quand méme un chemin), bien plus rapide qu'à pied tout en gardant les avantages: on entend, on sent, on ressent( trés limité en bus ou en train), on est bien plus proche des gens, on s'arréte ou on veut, quand on veut....

Du coup cette annéé, en avril, je souhaite partir pour le Mexique, descendre jusqu'à Panama en longeant la cote Atlantique et remonter en longeant le Pacifique., pendant 3 mois.

J'ai jamais voyagé dans ces pays, et je commence seulement à collecter toutes les infos que je trouve.

Alors si vous avez fait du vélo par las bas, et biouaqué en tente plus que passé les nuits en hotels, n'hésitez pas à me donner tous les conseils et bons plans, ce me sera d'une aide précieuse!!!

D'aute part si vous etes allé à El Salvador, pouvez vous m'en parler un peu, savoir si ca craint vraiment las bas?

Partant à 3 en Argentine pour 25 jours courant février 2004, devons-nous prendre nos billets de vols intérieurs en France ou est-ce moins cher sur place avec des compagnies autres que AEROLINEAS ARGENTINAS ?

Et le bus, est-il vraiement moins cher que l'avion ?

Nous sommes trois et nous partons pour 3 semaines au Nicaragua. J'ai commencé à faire un itinéraire, mais y a qu'un seul guide (Ulysse) et il es pas génial. 🏴‍☠️

Si quelqu'un peut nous donner des conseils (destinations, tuyaux, régions à éviter, précautions à prendre etc etc) ça serait super. Sinon, si jamais quelqu'un part au Nicaragua au même moment que nous ( du 25 décembre au 13 janivier), pourquoi pas faire un bout de chemin ensemble.

Three years after exploring northern Argentina and Chile, my two travel buddies and I want to discover the southern part of these two countries. We’re traveling on a budget, backpacker-style, favoring public transport and modest accommodations, but we don’t hesitate to splurge a little when it’s worth it. The classic spots that have been fueling our dreams: Bariloche, the lakes, Chiloé, El Chaltén, Torres del Paine, Perito Moreno, El Calafate, Fitz Roy, Ushuaia and Tierra del Fuego, and wrapping up in Valparaíso. We’ll take a round-trip flight to Santiago, then I’m thinking of a one-way flight from Santiago to Punta Arenas. From there, we’ll explore and do several day hikes in the south, including Ushuaia and, if possible, Tierra del Fuego. Then we’ll head back north by bus to Bariloche and the lakes, followed by Chiloé, then a bus to Santiago and Valparaíso. Hi there, I’m planning a trip with my partner (no kids this time—thanks, Grandma!) for two weeks to celebrate her 40th birthday. I’ve been thinking about Chile. We’re looking at leaving around September 18, 2027, starting in the south and returning in early April. Here’s what I had in mind:

8 nights in a van in the Lake District and the start of the Carretera Austral (up to the Chaitén area). We’re set to arrive in Puerto Montt around 2:00 PM. We don’t want to go too far south since we’re planning to explore the heart of Patagonia (Chile and Argentina) with the kids when they’re older. The idea is to spend 3 nights discovering the lakes (up to Cochamó) and 3 nights in Pumalín Park. I’ve also added two transition nights. 7 nights in the Atacama to experience another side of Chile (San Pedro), taking a domestic flight from Puerto Montt to Calama in the early afternoon. We’ll depart for France in the early evening from Santiago.

Introduction: For years, I’ve heard about Costa Rica, which seems like a country "made for me"—nature, not cities. I almost went in 2019, but a family issue made me cancel. Initially, I wanted to spend at least three weeks there, planning to go in our summer despite it being the rainy season. Then I realized what I wanted to do could fit into two weeks, so I ended up going in February. Plus, January’s weather was so awful that some sunshine should do me good. I found a flight at a decent price, but with two downsides. The first is that it leaves from Paris CDG, and the second is that it’s with Air France—a airline I’d sworn off after my misadventures with them back in 2008. We’ll see how it goes!

After going through a good chunk of the forum and travel journals about South Africa, I think my itinerary is ready...

I’ve planned 2 days with long drives to minimize time spent outside the parks. These are Sunday the 18th: Johannesburg Airport to Hluhluwe-Umfolozi Reserve, and Friday the 23rd: St. Lucia to Nelspruit (staying in South Africa) or as close as possible to visit the Canyon the next day.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on the itinerary, especially these 2 days—are they doable or not? Should I book in advance, or will there be places to sleep along the way if we don’t make it to our planned destination? What’s the crowd level in South Africa in October?

As for Kruger, I’ve chosen campsites with camping facilities, prioritizing the "satellite" camps, at least in the northern part!! I’ve planned to change camps almost every day to combine travel and wildlife spotting, but is this the right choice?

This afternoon I had a flight at 5:10 PM to Amsterdam from Nice (final destination: Berlin). I arrived at the airport a little before 3:00 PM and saw that the flight was now leaving at 6:30 PM. I went to the counter to point out that I wouldn’t have time to make my connection, and they told me I’d be spending the night in Amsterdam.

When the agent checked her computer, she saw that I’d been put on a flight with another airline and asked if I hadn’t received an email.

In the end, I had to change terminals and leave at 7:05 PM with Swiss Airlines, then Air Baltic.

Just to clarify, I checked in less than 24 hours ago for both KLM flights (Nice-Amsterdam and Amsterdam-Berlin) where I had seats assigned. I checked my emails carefully, and I was never notified!

Luckily, the Swiss Airlines flight left later—otherwise, at 3:00 PM, I wouldn’t have had time to check in (I have a checked bag), and I don’t know how I would’ve proven I never got an email. Also, thankfully, I went to the counter much earlier than planned for the 6:30 PM departure.

In the end, I was lucky because with KLM, I would’ve lost a whole day. And it’s a good thing I always travel for at least two full weeks because I’ve often lost a day due to delays—I wouldn’t do that for a week or a weekend getaway...

This is the first time this has happened to me, but there’s a first time for everything!

My friend is supposed to leave on June 26th for Philadelphia. American Airlines called him last night to ask him to cancel or postpone his flight because they’re canceling around a hundred flights from Europe, mainly due to fears of retaliatory attacks after the bombings in Iran. Their offer is either to postpone with compensation (the amount would be known once he accepts) or to cancel completely with a refund and the standard compensation for flights departing from Europe. The airline gave him until 24 hours before departure to decide. Otherwise, he can still go to the airport for now with no obligation to board since he’s traveling alone—they’re prioritizing families in case of overbooking due to some flight cancellations. The same goes for the return flight. In short, it’s total chaos. We’re waiting until tonight or tomorrow to decide whether to cancel outright.

Since no travel journal has been posted about this destination since 2020, I’m giving it a go—maybe it’ll jog some memories for a few of you or give others a few ideas... even if, in the end, there isn’t much to tell 😎! Even though the itinerary was as classic as can be, it still led to a few brain knots: in what order? How many nights on each island? Rent a car or not? In short, plenty of existential questions to land on 4 nights per island, finishing with Mahé to avoid any nasty surprises before the return flight.

Baggage claim is quick, the shuttle to the port is on time, the ferry is punctual (we, on the other hand, are *very* early for it ), and there’s Praslin in sight:



... with a sneak peek of the sea’s colors 🙂 Quick note on the photos: most were taken with a smartphone, and the colors are a bit more saturated than in real life (I did bring my hybrid camera, but in the end, I barely used it since it wasn’t very practical to lug around on the water or for snorkeling).

We pick up the car (a Grand i10 instead of a Picanto) from a muddy parking lot (it just rained) and off we go—of course, with a windshield wiper instead of the turn signal 😎, left-hand driving obliges. In just a few minutes, we arrive at our accommodation for these 4 nights on Praslin (Oh, and now the "lien" tab isn’t working! ) We’re blown away by the view from the terrace:

My wife and I took American Airlines flight no. 63 on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at 9:30 AM, with a scheduled arrival in Miami at 1:30 PM local time.

After about half an hour of flight, a young passenger had a medical emergency. They were given care, and a flight attendant went to get an oxygen bottle. Then, an announcement over the loudspeakers informed passengers that the plane was diverting to London.

Once at London Heathrow (LHR), we were waiting to depart again. But a new announcement asked us to disembark because the plane wouldn’t be able to take off until the next day. (American responded to my follow-up, saying they’re required to limit their staff’s working hours to a certain number per day.)

A crowd of travelers gathered at the American Airlines counter, where they were told to follow instructions to get to a hotel. Meanwhile, I called the airline’s customer service to find a replacement flight that same day, since I couldn’t afford to leave the next day. If I had, I would’ve lost my hotel and car rental reservations due to late cancellation, which would’ve cost me a significant amount.

After discussing in English with customer service and the counter staff (who I handed my phone to), we managed to get two seats on British Airways flight BA 0209, which was leaving about 2 hours later.

That’s how, after a stressful wait unsure if we’d get our luggage back, and once we did, we hurried—heavily loaded—to reach the far-off terminal for our new boarding on foot and by train shuttle.

We finally took off for Miami and landed around 7:30 PM, which was 6 hours later than the originally scheduled arrival time of American Airlines flight 63.

On top of the stress, there were the costs of meals in the meantime, and I had to notify the hotel and car rental company about our delay.

As a result, I requested compensation for a flight delay of at least 3 hours (and I’ve involved my insurance’s legal protection to pursue this claim). American Airlines argued that exceptional circumstances prevented them from compensating me.
