Northern Thailand is the region of Chiang Mai, heavily influenced by neighboring cultures from Yunnan or Myanmar. It's the "land" of hill tribes, treks, and the Golden Triangle. In short, a Thailand focused on "nature and adventure." As for Isaan, bordering Cambodia and Laos, it's an off-the-beaten-path area that also offers the chance to discover many beautiful Khmer ruins.

While the region faces some issues, particularly near the Malaysian border, it remains synonymous with Thailand's "relaxation-holiday" image for many. The highlights: stunning beaches, countless islands, lively seaside resorts, and party spots—though sometimes it can be a bit of a "free-for-all."
